There are a few of these locations on Long Island. This is the worst one. I can confirm the other reviews that the posted business hours are not always kept, which is unacceptable in retail, especially since 10 – 6 during the week isn’t exactly convenient for people who are at their own jobs during the exact same hours. So, when you leave work early to get there before 6 and the woman closes the door in your face at 5:45 because she has somewhere to go, you are not going to get anymore of my business. And yes, their prices are marked up. At their other locations I was ok with this because I was shopping locally and getting good service. Not here. Unfortunately, Matty’s in Merrick makes it easier to go to Toys R Us or the internet. My prediction — this place doesn’t last much longer.

Not quite sure why they even list their business hours. I came by before 6pm close time to pick up a gift and the place was all locked up. Waste of time sitting in traffic for nothing.

Went to this place because my son got a gift certificate. Was completely shocked wen I went in and saw prices are $ 20-$ 25 more per toy then any other place like target, babies r us, toys r us, online stores. I have no plans to ever go to this store again after this gift card is used. Apparently Unilocal doesn’t show the unrecommended reviews along with the good reviews which is ridiculous! Is not in bokd and it brings you to a different page. So at first glance this place looks like they are 5 star. I’d give it no stars but I’m seeing if it shows up with the one.

Buyer Beware! I’m all about supporting local business but if you don’t know your prices, you can get seriously «gouged» at Matty’s Toy Stop. I bought a Fisher Price playset for my grandchild at Matty’s which was priced at 44.99 plus tax. When I got home, I looked it up on Amazon and they were selling it for 18.50. I then looked it up on the Fisher Price website and they had it listed at 15.99. Really, Matty? A mark-up of nearly $ 30.00??? I understand that local stores would be more expensive than big chains, but this much more? Perhaps it’s time that mom and pop stores support their communities as well by not participating in price gouging.

I don’t shop at Toys R Us because I shop here! Love this little gem. Has all the coolest toys and totally retro feel. It’s a mom and pop shop just like the olden days. The register area is a wonderland of pocket and hand held delights. Great for young and old. I always find the perfect toy here and even stop in to browse.
