Got some kani salad and simple rolls(spicy tuna, tuna, spicy salmon, etc, etc.). The rolls I got were very large — much larger than I would expect from a $ 5ish roll. Aside from the size, the rolls had great flavor and the servers were very nice and professional. I’ll be back. Great deal, great portions, great rolls.

I pass this restaurant daily on my way to the train station and have been wanting to go just on it’s small, unassuming appearance alone. I most definitely picked the right spot! I was hoping they had«Uni» which is sea urchin, my favorite. However, as with many other places it was not available although it is on the menu. Regardless, the outstanding flavorful food, excellent service and cozy, dark ambience made me totally enjoy my visit. Highly recommended!

It’s hard to find good take out sushi in this area so I went on Unilocal to see what was getting the best reviews. I stumbled upon this place and figured it was worth a try. I’m glad we did take out because walking in that small place was somewhat claustrophobic. Everything was how we ordered and tasted great! My boyfriend loved the Kani salad and the buffalo roll. I loved the sweet potato roll and the clear soup! Definitely will be coming back when looking for some takeout sushi!

Waitress spilled ENTIRE cup of ice water on my boyfriend! Omg so he had to eat lunch with WET pants and socks! That’s how much water got spilled on him… Food is ok, but the service?! C’mon…

The hubby and I ate here the other day after getting our taxes done right next door. We were hungry and saw this place, walked in and were blown away by the sushi here! We ordered the edamame to start, it was hot and had the perfect amount of salt. After that we had the tri-color sushi, Philadelphia roll and the fire Phoenix roll which I highly recommend. It was a spicy tuna roll wrapped in avocado and had a thick layer of spicy crunchy salmon on top. It was delich! For a spontaneous sushi trip, it was one of the best places we have been to. Staff was quick and friendly. I highly recommend it!

Best Sushi in Merrick. By far. I would even go as far to say that it’s better than most sushi places in NYC. And the service is always fantastic. The waiter/waitresses are very friendly and welcoming

I ordered delviery from here and the food came faster then expected. Each sushu roll was as fresh as can be and simply delecious. Price was also resonable for a sushi boat for 2. It came with Miso soup and a salad which were both good. Looking forward to eating in next time.

Actually decent sushi for the area but not worth the $ 30+ it cost. I got the Geisha Roll and the Tequila Sunsrise Roll. These were both«special» rolls but were so small that they both fit in a small take-out platter. It’s also really tiny inside so I would only recommend this place for delivery or takeout.

I really enjoy this place. I have to many sushi places and this is one of the best ones. It is a little bit on the pricey side, but you are quality food. I will usually order take out and it is made to perfection. This place is on the small side however and it can get packed quickly.

This was my first time here, and I was impressed for what the place is – a super small sushi bar in Merrick. The place was small and intimate, and quite clean. I went on a Saturday afternoon when it wasn’t packed and the service was friendly and fast. For example they spotted that I was antsy waiting for my sushi so they gave me a complimentary soup. As a vegetarian I can’t comment on the quality of the fish, but the rolls that I ordered were fresh and tasty. Of course if you’re expecting Nobu you’ll be let down, but they exceeded my expectations and I go back.

I have been coming to this place for years and the sushi has never failed. However the service in this local sushi bar is extremely subpar to the other options such as Koban and Xaga. You can walk into this place on a Tuesday night and be the only people in the place and still have to wait 30 minutes for them TOTAKEYOURORDER then another century for the food to come out. Takeout is the same. You call they tell you 30 minutes and you show up and they haven’t started your order. The sushi does not deserve a two star rating but the service is horrific.

I hardly ever give any place 5 stars but I really do think this place deserves it. I come here a lot when I’m on LI. They have an amazing sushi specials. You get any 3 rolls from a very large selection, with miso soup AND salad with delicious ginger dressing for a very reasonable price and it is available all the time for lunch and dinner and even weekends and holidays. Given the size and quality of the pieces, it is extremely impressive. Whenever I want sushi, I try to come here. The atmosphere is pleasant, it might not be a fancy restaurant but it is cute inside and a great place to bring friends and family. I highly recommend the Snow Crab roll which is apparently a rarity. I think the miso soup can be a little bit better though. I wish this place opened up branches in the city so that I can be addicted to it ALL the time!

I’ve been trying different sushi spots around work(Freeport/Merrick) and this was next on my list. I had the sushi & sashimi lunch. Pretty much, tuna, salmon, whitefish and a piece of shrimp with a California roll. It wasn’t bad at all. The fish was fresh. The California roll was a little on the thin side compared to other’s I have had in the past, but was still OK. The miso was really good as was the hot green tea. The salad was basic but had too much of the white parts of ice berg lettuce for my liking. I was the only person there so the staff was attentive and the second I was done with anything the plate was gone. Kinda a bit too attentive, like give me a second to put the chopsticks down lol but I’d go back again if I was over in this are of Merrick again during lunch

We had to look around for awhile to find this place and somehow stumbled upon the back entrance. Not sure what our problem was! The hostess sat us with our party of people who weren’t directionally challenged. She was friendly and polite as she took our drink orders. B and I each ordered a roll and others in our group ordered the bento box. I wish we would’ve chosen the bento! It had a TON of food and looked absolutely delicious. Our rolls were good, but a little on the small side. A good option for sushi!

Really really fresh fish which is a tough find. Usually I find acceptable places in terms of quality. This exceeded my expectations which is why I will be going back. Even the rice was fresh and soft. I didn’t sit down but they seem super nice. Clean and decorative as well.

I really need to update my previous review. Stopped in last night to grab takeout on my way to my boyfriends place. There were 2 other couples in the joint at around 9pm. The place is tinyyyy, but the décor is nice. It immediately smelled like fresh fish when you walked through the door; this may be a turn off for other people, but I liked it. We were given menus quickly and were asked to sit at the sushi bar. I ordered a spicy crunch salmon roll and a geisha roll. They were assembled and packed in literally 5 minutes. An added bonus was the garden salad with delicious ginger dressing that I didn’t order that was placed in my bag! The spicy crunchy salmon had a perfect ratio of tempura flakes to salmon; it was delicious. The geisha roll was a show stopper! Spicy scallop and shrimp inside with snow crab salad on top. Genius! Delicious! Worth the $ 13 price tag. I’d come back here again any day to try any of the other rolls on the menu!

There’s not much to say that Nick hasn’t said. My guy and I came here on his recommendation while swapping sushi spots. Swapping sushi spots! Oooh! Sushi aliteration! I will say that this place is almost impossible to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for. We almost went to no less than three incorrect sushi spots. Between an iPhone, a droid and GPS, none were right. The correct address when I called is 46 — the numbers have recently changed. If you plug in for Outback it’s right next to it. And Ralph’s ice — which will come in super handy when the warmer months once again return upon us. This is more of a hole-in-the-wall sushi hideaway, not fancy, just a cool little spot with a few tables. My kind of place. The sushi menu is very creative and inventive — I hate when all the special rolls are filled with crab, caviar and lobster(don’t really eat that, and there’s more to special rolls than those three fish items). They make tuna, salmon, yellow tail and others in awesome combos. As I said in the tips for this place, the Amazing Roll is amazing. Get it. I also loved the Fire Phoenix Roll. You should get that too. I kinda wanna go back there, soon. The tea was of good quality(we might be tea snobs. okay, we are — he far more than I) and I think it’s a good sign when a Japanese place has good tea. Not all green teas are created equal. The prices are right, service is very good, the food is delicious, and it’s a great spot to come to away from the crowds when you want some sushi times. We shall return and try some new rolls, and girl scouts honor that I’ll share more pics and my thoughts with y’all.

While I’ve had a bit of sushi from various places over the years, Sushi Bar and Tea honestly takes the spot as the number one sushi restaurant for excellent food, atmosphere and service. The location is great(right off Sunrise Highway) and although the prices are very reasonable(a refreshing change from super upscale venues) the food is just as good if not better. Defiantly is a must visit for anyone that loves Sushi.

Some of the best, freshest, and most inventive sushi I’ve ever had! This tiny little corner sushi shop is very easy to overlook. As a matter of face we almost did! Not being able to find it originally(smart phone was telling us it was on the corner of 27, not 2 blocks up), we almost wound up at a bigger more pronounced sushi place very close to this one. But while looking for a parking spot, we passed this dimly lit corner store front that just said«Sushi» above the door. This is the one. When I say tiny, I mean a max of 10 tables. The staff is about 4 people, and some of the kindest and friendliest people you will meet. The menu had a little bit of everything going on. An amazing amount of apps, such as the classics like Miso, Gyoza and Harumaki, but threw in a few we haven’t seen before like Spicy Tuna and Guac, or Shumai soup. The spicy tuna and guac was real different and very tasty. A ball of spicy crunchy tuna on a Fritto Scoops with a half of avocado shell filled with fresh guac w/spices. The sashimi was some of the freshest tasting we have ever had. Always a huge huge plus. The rolls were extremely inventive as well, and plenty of them, the choice was extremely difficult. After deciding on the Tuna Family, Geisha, & the Silver Star(see pictures), the decision then became about which was the favorite. Still haven’t decided. Each one was such a different literal burst of flavor, there was no way of deciding which was better! Wrap up; It will be difficult to not get the same thing in our next visit, but the menu seemed so diverse for such a small place that if we were to go 10 times we would be able to get a different spread. And if everything is the level of quality and taste of what we ordered this night, we know we are in for an amazing sushi meal!
