Best sandwiches in the world and the owners and workers are all so nice you feel like family

Its a great sandwich shop thats hidden. Parking is very limited and try not to park at carvel at the corner because they have signs all over saying you will be towed away. They only take cash but if you need a atm they have one outside. The sandwiches are nice and big for 12 bucks i got a soda, chips and chicken supreme. The sandwich was great and filled me up with no problem. Next time i must try the chicken parm which a few friends told me i must have.

I have worked in Merrick for 10 years and i maybe ate here about 5 times and all the other times I have attempted to go here like today I just kept driving because the line is out the door and their is no where to park plus I don’t have 30 minutes to wait because I kid you not its happen to me and plenty of my co workers waiting on line that long, i haven’t eaten here in about 3 years so today I thought I would give it a try being its Saturday and I know during the week how packed this place gets due to the school kids and others coming here for their lunch breaks. So I thought 3:00 on a Saturday I should be ok well I thought wrong. First i called for about 5 minutes and got a busy signal which means it’s busy because they take the phone off the hook when it’s packed, so I drove here and saw the line was almost to the street so I kept driving, seriously? You would think they were giving away free sandwiches, I don’t get the hype with this place at all. Yes it’s cheap but this is merrick people have money here so what will you save by coming here 2 bucks. Or is it so good because they drown their sandwiches in oil and vinegar which I think is gross… If you want a good place where you get a ton more food, try Tamburinos deli in Lawrence because that’s where I went after work. And guess what I was the only person in their no lines out the door no busy signal.

When someone asks for a good sandwich, there is no better recommendation than«My Hero.» One of my personal favorites is «The Champ» with the works, but you can never go wrong with a «Chicken Club» or «Meatball hero.» My grandmother, a native from Cuba, has tried many sandwich spots in attempt to get a good«Cuban,» and the only place that has ever gotten close has been«My Hero!» Basically, every sandwich on their menu is worth a try. Their ingredients are always fresh and they add more meat than any other deli, making it more bang for your buck! You’re missing out if you’ve never had«My Hero!»

Best sandwiches, not that expensive and they are huge so they can serve as 2 meals… Also love catering in from them for big round heros, they are always a hit! One downside they are alwayssss busy and the line is always out the door but its worth it!

If you live in the area and haven’t been to my hero, SHAME my friend, shame on you. This spot offers classic(and delicious) deli sandwiches. Whether you get a cold sandwich like The Champ, or a hot Chicken Parm, My Hero won’t disappoint.

Oh thank goodness!!! Whatever happened that one time I came here and the bread was awful has been completely remedied. I’m so glad these guys are still rocking the best sandwiches in Nassau County.

Come on… just COMEON. Reviewing My Hero is almost stupid. It’s like reviewing a Chipotle. Everyone already know’s its awesome. The chicken club is always my go to here and please, don’t be a rookie and forget the works. I usually order the large, eat half and save the other half for a meal later. The pricing is fantastic and the portions are great. It’s been said in dozens of past reviews, but this place is tiny and there’s often a line out the door. The best move is to call an order ahead as the staff is always diligent in getting food out super fast. THEONETIME, I had an issue at My Hero they apologized and gave me my food for free. 5 stars for My Hero, no doubt.

Classic deli sandwiches! Local staple, with regulars coming and going. In the mood for hot sandwiches? Then get the chicken or meatball parm… can’t go wrong!

5 stars every time. Have never been disappointed here and the place doesn’t change their prices everyday like some other delis. A solid $ 8 for a huge and delicious chicken club!

I can’t say anything that dozens of others haven’t already said. This place is just the best sandwich, it’s a Bellmore-Merrick institution. There is no better place to spend your lunch money. Chicken club is the standard, I go Champ when I want to switch it up, but there is no way to go wrong here. Insider tip… the line is always out the door especially in the summer and during peak lunch hours, so a wise man calls his order in 30 min before.

My go to spot for sandwiches. The line is always long regardless of what time I come here. I call ahead of time now and it’s ready in the time they promise(just go straight to the register). The champ and chicken club are my favorite. I usually order the large, and half of the sandwich pretty much gets me full. They sandwiches are fresh and packed with meat and soo tasty. I really do hate their parking lot, its so tiny with space for maybe 7 cars if u cram it all in. If u do manage to find a spot in there, there is only one little ramp to come in and out. So try to find street parking if you can.

After waiting for my sister at the beach because she was eating at My Hero, we decided to try it on our way home! The line was out the door, so you know it’s great if people are willing to stand on a line for 10 or so minutes on a hot summer day. I got the Chicken Supreme(a small one) and my fiancé got the All American. Although we order smalls, they were by no means small! We each only ate half of our sandwich and got to have lunch the next day too! The sandwiches both had perfectly distributed ingredients. A lot of people say«A sandwich is a sandwich» But this is so not the case, once you find a good sandwich place, you gotta hold on to it! & I’m holding on to it! :)

I love to come here when I’m on Long Island. It’s not much to look at with not a lot of seating(some indoor and some outdoor), but it’s the bees knees. I usually get a large hero with whole wheat bread, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and oil and vinegar. They really pile on the meat!!! Half of the hero is sufficient for a meal for me. I think what makes the heroes so good here is the bread and the amount of meat. The bread is so fresh. The meat is so plentiful and delicious. I honestly crave their heroes when I’m not on Long Island. I have heard the chicken cutlets are amazing. The service is also good here. The line can be pretty long most times, but it goes quicker than you think. Try to call ahead(if you can get past the busy signal). If you call ahead you can kind of bypass the line. This is a grade A Long Island deli!

Great sandwiches, great people, and great value. You’re getting huge sandwiches with freshly cooked ingredients, for the price of fast food«subs». Its just a shame there aren’t more places like this around.

My husband and I split a Chicken Club(Chicken Cutlets, Lettuce, Tomato, Mayo & Bacon) with the works. Super crispy and definitely filling enough for 2. Not quite Sal, Chris, and Charlie’s status but a great option for locals!

I mean how good can you make a basic hero… well they make it as GOODASITGETS. I have gone to many deli’s and sandwich shops in my day but something just works here. Their cutlet is perfectly juicy, the combination with the meat and bread ratio is perfect and even their chicken salad is has the perfect amount of crunch to meat. There is a line out the door everyday for a reason… GREATFIND!

I’m a regular @ My Hero because they make THEBEST Bacon, Egg ‘n Cheese Hero hands down! For Mother’s Day, we ordered ½ trays of Penne Alla Vodka, Chicken Francaise, Stuffed Rolled Eggplant & Sausage and Peppers. Believe me when I tell you, ALL were ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! The chicken francaise had a very nice lemony sauce and was lightly breaded. The penne had the right amount of vodka sauce and was perfectly al dente! The eggplant was stuffed w/ricotta and topped w/a very flavorful sauce and mozzarella cheese. The sausage and peppers was another winner! They used plump, sweet sausage that ‘snapped’ when you bit into it(casing). It was also in a delicious tomato sauce along w/green peppers. For catering, I know where to go from now on. My Hero truly is MYHERO!

This is a true staple of Merrick. I have been going to My Hero since I can remember. The sandwiches here cannot be beat. If you have never been, then starting with the Champ is a must. Best Italian hero around. They also have a great chicken club. Just be aware the place is small, so a long line out the door is a usual. However, it goes quick. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars, okay really 3 reasons, the place definitely needs a makeover. It looks exactly the same as it did when I was a kid. The parking is horrible, and finally, I once tried a hot chicken parm hero, and I didn’t like it at all. Overall, this place is awesome! PS, they also don’t accept credit cards, which is a pain.

By far the best heroes in Long Island, there is almost always a line to order. They also make sandwich rings, great for parties and their sandwiches will not disappoint! The guys are always very nice and friendly, they even comped me a pickle on weekend. I love you guys!
