We stayed here last weekend for my daughters birthday and had such a nice time. The lady at the front desk Nancy was such a sweetheart! She went above and beyond making our stay even better.

GROUPSANDBUSINESSESSTAYAWAY! I called this hotel after being REFERRED to them to inquire about blocking some rooms for a large group event that I plan on an annual basis. Apparently the Sales Mgr Paul is over more than one Country inn and suites in the area. After waiting on him to return my call, i never called to follow up so this would be the first time after leaving one message that I would be speaking with Paul. I finally received a call from a 219 number I didn’t recognize but I missed the call. The person that called didn’t bother to leave a voice message. I called the number back Literally 2 minutes later and the Country inn and suites rep picked up. I told her I believed the sales mgr was attempting to call me about the block of rooms. She put me on hold, came back, and abruptly stated yea they said they can’t do it because the dates aren’t available. So I explained to her that I had waited on the actual mgrs call and I would like to speak with him for further detail. She put me on hold, this time she didn’t put the phone on mute and I heard her whispering to Paul that I wanted to speak with him and him telling her he didn’t want to talk. But he just called me? She then gets back on the phone and says um yea, what dates were you requesting again? Amazing! How are they denying business if they’re not even clear about the dates. So I gave her the dates, again she didn’t put me on mute and she whispered back to Paul and came back on the phone stating again… Yea, he’s busy but we can’t do the block and wouldn’t disclose what they’re rates were. I explained to her how unprofessional they both sounded and to not worry about it since PAUL couldn’t give a customer the simple courtesy of speaking with them and providing a common detailed explanation; especially someone offering a great deal of business. Literally, after waiting a couple wks for a response from this incompetent poor excuse of a mgr, I have yet to hear his voice, he obviously does not care about business nor the Country Inn and Suites Hotel chain or their guests. Point blank, groups, businesses, and guests, go anywhere but this hotel chain under Paul to block rooms. I’ve done business with many of them in the area for my annual group events and would recommend ANY other chain but country inn and suites in the merrillville hobart area.

This was actually one of the worst experiences of my life. We were locked out of our room for three hours! When the manager finally arrived no apologies no nothing! My partner is an employee of Carlson companies so I had to keep my cool however I did give him a piece of my mind because I have very bad allergies and my prescription was locked in my room. The story was one of his employees walked out and quit and the one that showed up after him was not empowered to make customers happy not that the manager did any better when he arrived. Oh I forgot to mention not only did the manager make the situation worst when he arrived he threaten to call my partners boss! What a joke! This would have never happened in Minnesota! They don’t call us Minnesota nice for nothing! ALWAYSTAKECAREOFTHECUSTOMER! SHOULDBEANYDIFFERENTBECAUSETHEYHAVEANEMPLOYEEDISCOUNT!

When I think of Country Inn, I thought it would be decked out in a wilderness theme along with a moose head promptly displayed in the lobby. Luckily, it’s nothing like that. We stayed here for one night and all in all, it was a good value. Our room was really nice and clean and they ended up putting us in a handicap suite(although neither of us are nor did we request) so things seemed spacious. The beds were really comfortable and that made me not want to get out of bed in the morning! They have nice amenities pool, hot tub, gym and free breakfast in the morning nut no free wifi so that was a bit depressing. Sadly enough the breakfast kind of sucked, it was very basic with cold eggs, sausage, Belgian waffle maker and various pastries so if you’re like me and trying to watch carbs and sugar that can be a bit difficult. It’s right along the highway and right across the street from Southlake Mall so there is a ton to see and restaurants aplenty in this area. The free cookies at the check in counter don’t hurt either!
