Great service, high value, tasty Mexican food describe this small cozy restaurant. I got two beef tacos and a burrito with pulled beef. The burrito was fantastic. They did a great job with seasoning the meats. Staff was friendly and eager to please.

A great quick lunch spot. They serve chips and salsa, and I ordered a chorizo torta and Mexican Coke. The sandwich was tasty and fast, and service perfectly adequate.

I’m on a road trip and saw this place advertising .99 cent tacos and decided to stop by. I ordered a sope and a torta, and both were really gross. The sope was really doughy and didn’t taste fresh at all… Kind of like they just fried it in the morning, then slathered on some room temperature toppings and called it a day. The carne asada was GREY colored. The torta was beef and the meat tasted like a low grade Taco Bell beef, and the bread was so soggy it was almost like the texture of bread pudding. Gross. The chips are very thick and unusual, but very addicting for some reason. Just wish the chips were fresh as well. Salsa was really salty. When I got my food, the waitress disappeared. I looked around for any other staff members and eventually came into eye contact with quite possibly the cook. I just wanted some green salsa to go with my meal because other than the complimentary chips and salsa, no other salsas were given. I only took two bites of the sope and one bite of the torta and lost my appetite. If I could rewind time, I would’ve just gone to a Taco Bell instead.

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. One if the most authentic around. I had Chile Relleno . Superior to others in the area. Prices are great . Family run and owned. If your on the grill your family. .99 tacos are a great deal. Chips and Salsa, wow great chips. The Only Issue I Have. It’s to far to eat here every day.

99cent tacos! You can’t go wrong! We also ordered 2 superman burrito meals! Best money ever spent! Great flavor, huge quantities! Only downfall, I believe there should have been chips and salsa with the meals! We will return!

I really liked this place! For starters, the chips and salsa was very good. Great flavor! Then I got the 3 chicken quesadilla dinner. The quesadilla’s were great! The beans and rice were decent. Server was very friendly. I would definitely come back.

I drove here for dinner because the posted hours were that it would be open until 10PM. Unfortunately they were closed an hour earlier than they were supposed to close and I was rather disappointed.

Food presentation was very poor. The quesadillas are not at all flavorful. The meat was not seasoned. Everything was a greasy mess.

Taco Depot is a hidden gem in Merrillville, IN. While it is currently difficult to exit to get back to Rte. 30 East due to construction, it is totally worth the wait. The barbacoa tacos are delicious. Their food is simple, just onion & cilantro as toppings. The tacos are small so if u r a big eater, be sure to order several which isn’t a bank breaker since they’re only $ 0.99! Service isn’t that great but the food & price makes up for it.

Long overdue review! Back in 2012, It was snowing out and I had just got off work. Everything was closing early, even Starbucks closed! I stopped in at the Taco Depot on a whim. They were also getting ready to also close early so I was going to leave, however, the manager/owner opened his door to me. He was willing to stay later and they pulled additional food out to make a meal for me and my family. You might think he stayed open for me for the money, but the best part is… he didn’t charge me. He said to just spread the word!

Stopped at Taco Depot on the way from Chicago to Indianapolis. My wife had one fish and one veggie taco($.99 each), my daughter had a kids quesadilla meal and I had a vegetarian burrito meal. All of the food was great. Chips and salsa were also very good. Service was outstanding! We make this trip many times during the year and will always plan on stopping at the Taco Depot along the way.

The quality of the tacos can be a hit or miss depending on the cook, however, for .99 cents, its a great deal. This place lost a star because of their temperature system inside. It’s either way too cold to dine in during the winter or too balmy in the summer. Today it was drafty! All in all, not a bad place to grab a quick bite for an excellent price!

I really liked the vegetarian Big Boy burrito. It’s pretty big and more than sufficient for lunch. It’s probably like the same size as a Chipotle burrito. The flavor and all were good, except for the potatoes — I thought that tasted somewhat off in a burrito. Probably next time I’d order it without the potatoes. If I ever had the chance to try that I’m sure I’d move the rating up to 4 stars.

Yum! This place is great! We stayed three days near here and I had lunch twice at this local establishment and not just because they were close, but because it was very good! I tried the min burrito with pork and the tamale dinner, everything was authentic and excellent. I also had a cabrito taco which was also amazing, I would give it five stars but it isn’t a five star restaurant. Thanks!

At the onset of a two day road trip we saw a guy on the side of the road, holding a sign advertising authentic Mexican food. This looked like a fantastic idea… And it was. (++) Yep, five stars. This place does not try to be anything more than a depot of tacos and for this humble honesty, I applaud them. Straight forward, simple, no frills, 99 cent tacos. (+) And there’s a drive-through. (+) Cheese is extra; I don’t mind. Carnitas, steak, chicken, pork, beef, or beans. The green sauce is preferred(we had mild when we ended up here again on the way home) and carnitas were my favorite. I also prefer onions and cilantro instead of lettuce and tomato, but they’ll hit the spot either way. Definitely a better idea than Arby’s, McDonalds, or other greasy fast food options. (+) Also, the service was unconventionally friendly, endearing even. Thanks for being good for something, Indiana.

I have become a fan of Taco Depot; great chips and salsa and $.99 tacos. When first going into the restaurant, my expectations were not very high because it isn’t anything really classy and the outside doesn’t look very clean. However, once inside, you are immediately greeted and seated. However, the inside seems a little outdated and the restaurant is fairly new. I was immediately served chips and salsa. I think I was won over by the chips and salsa. They are homemade and they were still hot from the fryer when served. When it was time to order, I ordered two chicken tacos on flour that was on the $.99 menu. I enjoyed the tacos, but it was missing something, they also have a homemade taco sauce that adds flavor to them. I enjoyed the food and it is a great lunch option. I believe the chips and salsa makes the restaurant, because that was the best thing that I had there. The servers are also very friendly; they are always making sure that we were doing okay. I was very pleased with the service. I would definitely recommend Taco Depot if you are looking for a cheap meal. However, I would suggest using the restroom before going because it literally stinks in their restrooms. It was hard for me to just wash my hands in there; now how do you think I would feel if I actually had to close the door and use the restroom. Someone needs to get that restroom checked out ASAP!
