Buckley’s Great Steaks

Excellent food yet I feel a bit overpriced. Bartenders are prompt and knowledgeable. Food always good with again, a price which doesn’t match. I’d go there again and focus on specials; Oysters etc. Went here to impress Gfs daughter and they were out of prime rib? Got the salmon.

Best restaurant in Merrimack hands down. I daydream about the meatloaf it is the best I have had anywhere. The building itself is charming. Staff is pleasant and service is top notch.

Really excellent, reasonably-​priced steakhouse.
The steaks are great, well aged and expertly cooked. The specials are always excellent. Even just a relaxed meal sitting at the bar and getting one of their amazing burgers is a real treat! I consider their burgers to be possibly the best in NH. (And has been rated as so several times by various publications.) The burger meat is hand-​ground from their steaks.
Their cocktails are well-​crafted and generous. Their wine and beer selection is excellent.
Buckley’s features both dining rooms and a tavern area. The dining rooms give you a more intimate, formal experience. The tavern (and bar) is more casual and laid back. The full dining room menu is available in the tavern.
On a friday or saturday night, if you arrive between 6 and 8, expect a minimum 30 minute wait. But they take reservations and also have call-​ahead waiting list, I believe. many times, I just plan for the wait, and get a drink from the bar while waiting for a table.
Overall, and excellent choice for a nice night out.

Appears to be a converted home into restaurant. Very Charming New England atmosphere. Seemingly a local joint… hostess says to me… where are you visiting from… I guess I looked lost or out of place.
The real star here is the steak. In my opinion, not so much on the sides. My food: Amazing prime rib… blackened with hollandaise and red wine demi… tender, outstanding flavor, like cutting into a soft stick of butter. Complex flavors perfectly blended, rich and savory.
I did not like the mashed potatoes, nor the green bean almandine. Mashed potatoes were cake frosting consistency, meaning they are pureed to the point that they can be dispensed from a frosting bag into a very hot cast iron serving pot. Yeah… even with the fancy frosting tip. As for the flavor or lack thereof… not my style. Green bean almandine was whole green beans with butter and almonds… there it is… again, not my style. I said I didn’t like it, was not offered anything else to substitute.
Great place to chill (tavern area), romantic dinner (dining room[s]), outstanding steak. Recommend.

Ive never had a better surf and turf meal! Lobster tail with the best steak i ever ate.
The service was just excellent and very helpful.

Service and atmosphere are excellent and quite pleasant. However, every time I have been here, I have left feeling like I got a low quality steak served nicely. I keep hoping that it will be a better steak… I don’t know if it is the aging, or what, but no hitting the mark. I had the Cowboy Cut and have had this at other places many many times… This was a nice sized piece of bland steak.
I think the group that owns this restaurant (it is a group) should look at The Hanover Chop house and compare, as Hanover has a better product.
I want to like this place… But at $ 42 for a nice steak, I wanted a nice tasting steak.

It pains me to say this place is just «OK». Michael Buckley is a terrific restauranteur, but by comparison to MT’s and Surf, Buckley’s falls short.
Prices are high end, but the food falls short consistently (of the prices). The food is good, don’t get me wrong, but the prices set the expectation of «great», which it’s not. The best way to approach is hit up the bar for a cocktail and apps.
It’s nice that Merrimack has a «high-​end» joint, but after numerous «ehh» experiences, I’d love to see them live up to the hype.

Absolutely the best steakhouse in NH! From Dave the rockin’ bartender to their entire staff you will not have a better dining experience (or steak)! The burgers in The Tavern are also amazing and it’s a great area to sit in for more casual fare.
