Policicchio Groves

So delicious to have fresh juice from the grove. It tastes sweetly refreshing and crisp yet tart when it is freshly juiced after being picked the same day. They had a variety of citrus for sale in addition to other treats. Great stop on the way to Merritt national wildlife refuge.

Bought a bottle of fresh orange juice. It was gone within a few minutes. MMM good!

This is where we buy our fruit when the crop is in. Prices are much better than Harvey’s. Our juicer got a good workout over the holidays and everyone enjoyed the quality of the fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit juices for breakfast.

This local road side stand is located along the way to Kennedy Space Center and a great place to stop for fresh citrus. It might not look like much from the outside but inside — oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, tangelos, lemons and limes are available for purchase (at least on the day I stopped in). The fruit can be purchased individually as well as in several bushel sizes (¼, ½ and full). In addition to fruit, the store sells homemade fudge, jellies (orange marmalade for example), fresh orange juice, and local honey.
On of the great things about this store is that they have samples of the fruit available for purchase. The fruit might not look «pretty» but one taste and this ugly step-​sister to a Sunkist orange will make you think twice when you are next in the grocery store. A little more pricey then what I am used to in Connecticut but the taste is second to none. Sweet and juicy — just what you would expect from Florida citrus.
**One thing to remember is that if you purchase fruit to bring back home, AND plan on packing them in your suitcase, make sure to get USDA certificate so they won’t be confiscated by TSA**
