These tour guides are spectacular. Super engaged, inspired and informed. I learned more than I thought I would!

I would not use a tour again. I would drive over there and keep my own pace, eat lunch in air conditioning and leave when I was done. The driver of the van did not tell us anything that was not on the information signs. Because it was hot 90 degrees the trip seemed very long. the tour included sandwich, drink etc and this was eaten under trees outside. Fun if not so hot but what they would have done with worse weather not sure, Eat in van? The resturant has good selection and is comfortable. Given the heat I should have gone early, gotten the ranger talk tickets I wanted and I would have adjusted for the weather, morning tour, not mid afternoon in melting weather. The people picked up last had to contort to get to the last seats in the van. If you have mobility issues this is not the tour for you. If you do not have a car this would be a good option.

My boyfriend and I took the Mesa Verde Highlight Tour with Shane. We really, really enjoyed it. For $ 70, the tour lasted from 10am to about 5:30pm, and it included transport from Duranog, park entry, lunch, and also a separate ranger-led tour to Balcony House. There was only myself and my boyfriend on the tour(I understand that there was another group that went out earlier for the full day tour), which I really liked. It allowed Shane to improvise and give us the option to make our own schedule. We could choose to do more cliff dwelling tours vs. the older mesa history, or vice versa. I definitely got more out of the park by using Mesa Verde Tours rather than trying to visit the park myself. Also, i found the tour guide more interesting than the ranger-led tour we took at Balcony House.
