If you’re planning on sending your discs to Azuradisc for resurfacing the disc to buff out scratches, there are a few things to consider. If the disc is performing fine, and the scratches are only cosmetic, I DONOT recommend performing such a service. The reason being that the discs may very well come back in an unplayable fashion. However if your disc fail to perform at all, then in this instance you have nothing to lose and its worth the shot, as the service may fix the disc. There is a risk associated with this service so I further recommend to attempt to fix the problem through a few other methods first before resorting to this. If your disc refuses to work in this case there’s nothing to lose and possibly getting your disc fixed is a good choice. I will outline my experiences. I’ve been struggling to play one of my favorite and rare gamecube games for years Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. After a long time I finally built up the nostalgia to try and play it once again since I never got to play it due to some smudges on it among some minor scratches(none deep at all). And playing it I ran into the same problem, the game disc would perform for a while, but in the game, whenever some specific animations were performed, the game would stop running a lot of the time. I had attempted to fix the game to no avail which is why I resorted to this service. When I got the discs that I had sent back, the scratches for the most part were completely gone, so I was very excited at the prospect of finally getting a chance to enjoy this game I’ve been longing to play for years. However, in the process of trying to play the game, where the game would ALWAYS load up and only have problems in cinematics, now the game refuses to load up on my Wii. Only after 15+ times of me removing the game disc and putting it in will it finally load up to the title screen. After that the game works almost fine. I am able to get through many whole levels of the game without the game freezing up. But every once in a while will my game freeze up while I’m in the menus of the game which frustrates as I must repeat the 15+ process all over again. It’s an annoying and tedious process. It is also worth noting that when I had received the discs that I noticed that at the center of the disc where it looks like clear plastic, there is now a milky like residue that had only appeared after the service was performed. This happened only to the two gamecube discs that I have sent in to Azuradisc and this residue is impossible to remove as it seems its inside the plastic. I have considered that this could be very well the issue to why the game doesn’t perform so well. Its a shame that the service didn’t resolve the entire problem with the discs. It made a semi-unplayable game into a near impossible to start but semi-playable game. If there are other superior services that would have been able to completely restore this game to it’s full extent, I would gladly pay for it as this game is a rare game that’s worth $ 80 and up and would have gladly spent the money to repair it. The residue I spoke of, I felt is odd, and could possibly been avoided with better service, and if it is indeed affecting the performance of my game, I am very disappointed with the service. But seeing as there are no scratches, and the disc started previously with no problem, I can’t quite think of any other possibilities other than the service just risks damaging the disc in general. I’ve tried one of the other games and it seems to work fine. So overall the service may work for you or it may not. It’s not so great, but its worth a shot if you have no other options. If you are aware of other options to fix this game or other professional services with a better rap, I’d say its worth doing a bit of research on. I have contacted AzuraDisc via email. I will see if there advice works from there on.

Here is the email I sent to them after I tried the disc they had«repaired». “I just thought I’d let you know that your service made the disk much worse. When I received it there were visible marks on the DVD that I swear were not there when I sent it in. The DVD rattled around in the cakebox on the return shipment so may have incurred additional damage that way. Either your service is terrible or your machines don’t work. This DVD was a precious memory for my family. I would have gladly paid much more to have it repaired. Now it is trash. Your company should not do that to people. If you can’t do a good job for what you charge, you should either raise your price or stop doing it.“ If you try them I sincerely hope that they do a better job for you.

I was very impressed with the results I received from Azuradisc. I inherited a pretty badly-scratched Wii disc that, despite my attempts to clean it via some of the usual DIY techniques, didn’t bear any fruit. Getting it buffed at a local video game shop also didn’t fix the issue either since the scratches were too deep and superficial cleaning was not sufficient. What ultimately needed to happen was that the disc needed to be resurfaced– meaning a layer had to be taken off the top. This is where Azuradisc hit the nail on the head. I sent the disc over to them and within a week(amazing turnaround time since I’m on the other side of the country from them) they got it back to me, scratches gone and the disc looking flawlessly shiny. The game save info was intact and the disc played correctly without any errors. I got exactly what I paid for and the $ 5.63 was more than worth it. This company delivers and does the job you pay them to do. Highly recommended.

I sent Azura five CD’s to remove the scratches. Of the five, three were returned with scratches(skipped music) and one of the three had a song deleted. I sent two emails with no replies. Beware! Karen from LI, NY

In addition to selling disc cleaning machines, Azuradisc has the absolute cheapest mail-in disc cleaning service out there. I should also mention I was able to have a back and forth email conversation with an employee who always responded quickly and nicely. Top it off with quantity discounts, easy steps for mailing, quick service, and report emails to let you know what is going on, and it is safe to say it doesn’t get any better than this.
