Ever seen a Singing Crêpe before? Not sure I even understand what that means. Maybe it got lost in translation or maybe it’s inspired by somebody’s opium dreams. So anyway, there’s a karaōke place where you can rent karaōke rooms by the hour in Mesa called the Singing Crêpe(歡唱快樂譜). So we came here late in the afternoon on a Saturday and there was no one around. We walked into the entranceway and called out but nobody came out. We figured there must have been SOMEONE around because the entrance door was open and some sort of stew was being heated on a table in the entrance lounge area. So I called their phone number and talked to some guy letting him know we were in front of the business and a few minutes later a guy walks out from the back and greeted us all and gave a tour of the place. So we spent a few hours here and had fun. Since the only other place like this I’ve ever been to and possibly the only other existing place in the valley(do please correct me if I’m wrong: P) is August Karaōke Box I can only make comparisons to that place. Ways it’s better than August Karaōke Box: 1) Seems like a better music selection. They actually had Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Eagles, and a slightly better Beatles collection. Mind you it was only TWO Zeppelin songs but hey — that’s two more than August has! 2) Maybe it’s less known than August Karaōke Box so it was really easy to book and there was no other group of folks in there when we started. 3) It’s located in a nicer mall than August Karaōke Box. Way’s it’s not: 1) Room was not as clean as in August Karaōke Box. 2) Karaōke Console GUI was not as intuitive and easy to use as the one at August Karaōke Box. Also this GUI seemed to have a lot of glitches — songs suddenly skipping to the next one on occasion when nobody did anything to the console. This place has the Console running in Windows. If I remember right the August Karaōke Box console was running on Linux. 3) The whole process here seemed less organized than at August Karaōke Box. 4) Not sure if I’d order food/drink from this place. I mean, where’s the kitchen? Out in the entrance area? Holy Health Dept. Batman! There was a glass fridge where we saw a few beer cans — that were expired(yes, Virginia, beer has a limited shelf life). Bring your own. We brought our own drinks we got at the nearby Asiana. So pricing is about the same as August Karaōke Box. The guy was able to split our costs evenly among all the folks in our group which was very cool so we didn’t have to fight about who owed who what later on. Not sure but I think I prefer August Karaōke Box overall but this may be a good backup plan if August is all booked and we still wanna get our karaōke fix. Place is in the mostly Asian mall at the northwest corner of Southern and Dobson. Shares the mall with Saketini, Oregano’s Asiana Market, Best Hong Kong Dining, Hodori, Szechuan Express, and Beijing Acupuncture. The entrance is actually between Szechuan Express at the southwesternmost corner of the mall and Beijing Acupuncture. Lots of parking. Also lots of Asian drivers so you’ve been warned.

Came with few of my buddies on they’er soft opening night… and let me tell you I really missed a place like this back in china we use to go out every weekend to sing and now after moving here to the states it’s been super hard to find a place to sing and have fun like we use to but finally we have one here. The décor is super nice from the front lobby to the private ktv rooms all the way to the rest rooms. The sound system is very nice as well with 50inch led high def TVs and wireless microphones makes the night even better, they don’t offer alcohol yet but the owner tells me he’s working one the license so the offer a wide verity of soft drinks and juice and ice teas there songs selections is huge well the Chinese and Cantonese ones are since I don’t sing Korean and Japanese but they do offer it looks like there’s more then a few too. One other thing I want to mention is that they will be selling icecream and crepes too but that’s in the works as well too I asked and the owner said he will have it all going in 2 weeks but I came to sing so it’ll be a plus when they start to sever sweets and food as well and of course this will be my new go to place on weekends from now on!
