K got a co-worker to cover her call so she asked me to pick up a cupcake for her as a «Thank You». Originally, I went over to Mind Over Batter but they’ve gone out of business. Hmm, so I checked on Unilocal*and Sugarlips popped up. A couple miles a way was no biggie. The place is cute enough. There was a good selection of cupcakes in the case. I saw a lot of information of their wedding cakes, or specialty cakes, as well. K needed a cupcake but how could I just bring one home. I bought the Chocolate Cupcake for K’s friend, Red Velvet for me, Vanilla for K and White w/Sprinkles for C. Each cupcake was $ 2.50 and there was a «check in» deal from Unilocal*for one free cupcake. Booyaa, love freebies. I want to also point out that Sugarlips did not charge tax. So, the 4 cupcakes minus the free one were $ 7.50. Although the 3 of us ate our cupcakes, we all came to the same conclusion about them. It’s a cupcake. No, really. Just a cupcake. Seemed to be the same size as the cupcakes I can make at home. The pricing was fair for the product. The cake tasted like cake. Just like the cake I get at Fry’s, Safeway, Albertson’s, my cousins house or really anywhere someone pops open a box of cake mix and makes cupcakes. The frosting was fine. Again, tasted like frosting. The kind that comes in a little can and you spread it on the cupcakes that you just made from a box mix. So it tastes fine. Nothing special. But, nothing bad either. OK Cupcakes. Fair prices w/o tax added on. 3 Stars.

I attended a cake tasting with my daughter for her upcoming wedding. Sugarlips was highly recommended by wedding venue. The«consultation» was far from one. The woman helping us brought out cupcakes, cut in half with a smear of filling on the top, and icing next to the cake. The presentation was terrible if you’re trying to give he bride an idea of how her wedding cake with look. The consultant wasn’t helpful at all. She had us look through photo albums for ideas, instead of probing the bride with questions about the wedding. She repeatedly said, «I’ll give you some time to discuss.» Perhaps she thought she had to merely present the butchered cupcakes and take our order. We tried the pink champagne, white with raspberry filling, and white with strawberry filling. After not being impressed by any of the options, we purchased red velvet and carrot cupcakes. The red velvet was terrible! It tasted like vegetable oil. Everything we tried,(five different types of cake) were dry. Long story short, after another consultation with different cake bakery, where we had a completely different experience, I decided to write this review.

My son and I went in last Saturday to make a cake purchase for my son’s birthday. I had previously purchased two cakes from this bakery in the past. To say the service on Saturday was rude is an absolute understatement. The person handling the cake order did not provide any type of direction nor pricing on the cake. The service was rushed and the person appeared to be annoyed when any questions were asked. After my son had picked out what he wanted, I was absolutely astonished when the person taking the order indicated that the cake was $ 180 for 30 people. When my son asked for a cup of water with his cupcake, the person at the counter was rude after a seemingly large purchase — I had also ordered a coffee which was finally offered to me as I was walking out of the bakery after being there for over 15 minutes. My sister went in today to make changes to the cake which is not scheduled to be ready until Saturday and was told that because I had already paid in full, there could be no changes made to the cake. It was further told to her that if we were to go somewhere else it was fine because I had already paid for the cake. Next cake order, I will go elsewhere.

I really like this location for sugarlips! Very cute and compfy:) Cupcakes are super delicious! Happy hour Wednesday 4pm-5pm & Saturday from 1pm-2pm… $ 1. WHAT??? That’s right just a buck, and this is ALL the cupcakes, not just a select few. Thumbs up!

I actually stumbled onto this place because I won my wedding cake from them. After having my consultation and my tasting I fell in love with their cupcakes. At least once a week I swing by to grab a cupcake because they are that amazing. First off, the frosting is light and perfect. It’s almost a mix between a whipped frosting and regular frosting. No matter what, it is always perfect. Plus they mix it up by adding new flavors for the week so there is always something new to try. They are always moist, never dry and full of flavor. The prices are great considering you are getting a true gourmet cupcake for only $ 2.50. My favorite is the chocolate on chocolate cupcake. Some places have a weird tasting chocolate but Sugarlips does it perfect! Not to mention the décor is adorable. Stop on in and it will change your life!

Today I bought a cupcake without the sprinkles. Diets are hard… ;) I tinkle sprinkles. Anyways, who doesn’t like cupcakes? If you don’t like cupcakes, I don’t like you. Like seriously, remove me as a friend because I breathe, sleep, and eat cupcakes like whoa. So this super cute, shabby chic, pastel dream of a cupcakery is ridonkulously close to my house. How I have waited so long to stop by is beyond me. After discovering this cute shop, with the most adorable nook and décor, I stopped in two days in a row. In my defense, the second day was on Saturday during their Happy Hour, from 1PM-2PM, where cupcakes can be bought for a meager $ 1 [normally $ 2.50 during non-HH]. $ 1.00! Why waste calories and fat in-take on a Hot & Spicy when you can get something sugary, cute, and possibly has edible glitter?! Plus you’ll be supporting your local cakery! Like at all places, they have some really good stuff and stuff that isn’t quite as good. Granted, I’ve only tried six cupcake flavors and a brownie so far but I must say that the Nutella gots me hooked! It’s not too sweet and I think the topping might be whipped cream which is my favorite kind of cream to go on a cake. I’m not too crazy about the Pineapple Rum, the Salted Caramel was a bit too sweet for me even with the salt on top, and the Pink Champagne was decent. I have high hopes for the Red Velvet that I’m saving for breakfast tomorrow [Yeah, I’m the kind that eats a cupcake for breakfast. Bite me.]! The cake itself can be a little dense but they’re still moist. It’s not quite fluffy but it’s still delicious. Seriously y’all, come to Sugarlips to make your sugary lips even sweeter! I just ran my first marathon today. Just kidding. I had two cupcakes for dessert. This place is gonna turn my ass into a Pokemon — a Jigglypuff. :(#AddingLifeToMyDays #NotDaysToMyLife

Fantastic! We have ordered 3 cakes from here on 3 different occasions and each one was fantastic! Recently, we ordered a chocolate chip cake with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting. Absolutely moist and delicious! Our guests went back for seconds. There was no cake leftover. Yum!

Got a red velvet cupcake and it was best cream cheese frosting ive ever had!!! The cupcake had a bit too much baking soda but it was light and fluffy. Super cute décor in the store I wish they had more selections of cupcakes though!

This place is gorgeous and I could spend all day here, it’s so relaxing. NOW! As far as the cupcakes go, I can believe they’re legal, I thought all of the great and wonderful things in life were illegal. They are amazing and I would never go to $prinkle$ again. Thanks Sugarlips!!!

I read the reviews when I came in and expected to be blown away, but the cupcakes were just average for me. The décor inside was incredibly cute, colorful, and inviting. I had asked what the most popular flavors were so I picked triple chocolate, red velvet, salted caramel and a seasonal coconut. The cake itself was a tad dry in my opinion. The frosting amount was appropriate(I hate it when they overdo frosting) but there were no flavors within the cake itself that popped out. The coconut seemed like the only thing that made it coconut was the flakes on top. It all comes down to personal taste for cupcakes– I don’t like cupcakes that are overly sweet, and they have to be incredibly moist, so I still prefer My usual spot in Phoenix. However, the décor inside was adorable and inviting, and the staff was helpful and friendly– it was a hidden gem in Mesa!

My daughter wanted the perfect birthday cake, and Sugarlips made it happen! 1 .===The CAKEWAS adorable≠== We ordered the 10 inch round Red Velvet Cake with cream cheese frosting, and we wanted it to feature«The» Grumpy Cat. The in house artist did the most amazing job making it look just like the real deal! They really exceeded my expectations on all of the aesthetic/visual components of a professional cakery. When I was in the shop I saw a few other cakes(probably bridal) that were both really on trend, gorgeous cakes. 2. ===The CAKEWASTASTY≠== The flavor of the cake was very rich and perfect for a special occasion. We had a few cake-connoisseur types at our event whom swear by the whole foods cakes alone.(they are really really good over there, they truly are) However when skeptically tasting the Sugarlips cake, they all exclaimed its flavorful merit! 3. ===The CAKEWASWELLPRICED≠== I called like 5 other Cake shops as close to Gilbert as I could get them, and for my Grumpy cat request I was quoted anywhere from 70 $-97 $ Sugarlips was like nearly ½ the price as some of the quotes, so they won my purchase for this event. However after all of the other facets of my enjoyable experience, they have also won my future business! I Highly recommend you choose them for your next Specialty Cake purchase.

This will be my first Unilocal review but it is well over due. I love this place. Not only is it a short drive from my house, it’s right next to my real estate school. I love their vanilla cupcake. The cake itself is soft and fluffy, while the frosting is the perfect amount of sweet. I’ve order these cupcakes for a bridal shower and they were decorated exactly as I described. I also got my boyfriend’s fire academy graduation cake here and everyone loved it! I was really picky on how I wanted it to look and they took the time to listen to my ENDLESS instruction. The cake turned out beautifully and not only did the cake look amazing, it tasted just as good! Great cakes and great customer service, what else could you ask for ?! P. S. Wednesdays and Saturdays have a cupcake happy hour !

Can’t beat their Happy Hour on Wednesdays from 4:00 — 5:00 pm and on Saturdays from 1:00 — 2:00 pm, where their cupcakes are only $ 1.00. No need to check your glasses. That’s right — I wrote $ 1.00. $ 1.00! Their cupcakes are good. The cake is light and fluffy. I am a pretty big fan of cupcakes being soft heavenly pillows in your mouth so these do delight. The frostings are gosh darn tasty too. By far the best cupcake on the menu is their TRIPLECHOCOLATE. It was deemed the clear winner by my office coworkers. It is chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, and chocolate sprinkles. A triple threat of chocolate goodness. I’m now on request(required) to bring much more of them to work next time. My personal favorite was the almond raspberry one I had a while back. The filling really made it something unique and special. Plus, I’m a sucker for edible glitter in frosting! I’m glad Sugarlips is close to where I live to fulfill all my spur of the moment, spontaneous, cupcake needs.

Sugarlips made the most delicious birthday cake for my son. I wanted it to be exactly like the triple chocolate cupcake, and they exceeded my expectations. This cake has to be the BEST birthday cake that I have ever eaten. Thank you Sugarlips!

Ordered a last minute birthday cake for my mom and luckily, Sugarlips Cakery was able to accommodate my request of the customized bday cake in such a short notice(like ordered today, need it tomorrow night. –__-’) in a very reasonable price The staff were friendly and very helpful. The cake was a hit! Everyone loved the cake specially my mom! Definitely got some inquiry where I got the cake and of course I told them where. Highly suggest this place! The cake was not only very detailed in design(even though it’s simply just Sully’s fur) but the cake tasted really good(red velvet). I will for sure order future cakes here again and let my friends know about it! Thanks for the cake you guys! There was no left overs at the bar because everyone loved it!

Sugarlips absolutely saved the day for my wedding in October. After finding out a month before my wedding that the person making my cakes could no longer do it, I panicked a little and then sent my sister on a research mission to find a new bakery. I was especially worried because I wanted a pretty non-traditional cake(5 single tier cakes of different sizes with different designs in ivory buttercream) and was not sure I’d be able to find a new baker who could create what I was looking for. By the time we got in touch with Sugarlips they were so accommodating and nice about my situation. Not only that, the cakes they created for me were so beautiful(and delicious!) that it was like my original plan never changed. They also worked closely with my florist to add some flowers to the tops of the cakes and the end result turned out beautifully. I would recommend them to any of my friends or family.

I stopped by on NYE. The place looked clean, but I didn’t stay very long. They had several flavors and I chose Red Velvet and Salted Caramel. Mmmmmmkay, dat’s tasty! Frosting on RV is OMGyum. Cake is decent. SC is regular cake, but good fluffy frosting and a noticeable salty taste. I’ll be returning here to try their other flavors.

These folks came thru with a Sesame Street themed cake for my daughters first bday. Due to copy right laws they couldn’t technically create the exact characters but instead they helped create a scene that incorporated her character toys! It was a huge hit! The cupcake toppers were ordered thru someone else but the cupcakes were AWESOMETOO!

In AZ for Spring Training and as a self proclaimed cupcake aficionado, had to stop by and try these beautiful little treats. Lovely décor and ambiance, great display with beautifully decorated cupcakes in an ample variety of flavors. Took home 4 flavors: pineapple coconut, pink champagne, salted caramel and raspberry lemon. Cakes were all moist with just the right amount of tasty frosting. Only criticism is the frosting on the salted caramel was a bit grainy and lacked that salt flavor to cut the overwhelming sweetness of the caramel. Definitely worth a visit!
