I brought a basketball tournament out to Mesa in July. It was really hot. But the city did all they could for us, rolled out the red carpet and made us feel special. The facilities are top notch. The staff there is really helpful in providing maps, directions, and suggestions about where to go. Josh Todd is an awesome guy, he serviced our event very well. Went above and beyond the call of duty.

The next time you’re downtown Mesa, you’ve got to check out the art sculpture called, «Climb as High as Your Dreams.» This artwork is located on Main Street in Mesa on the north side of the road between Center and McDonald. It is such an inspirational piece. It makes you want to reach for high goals and exceed the limits. I admire artist Chris Navarro’s ability to create something that evokes such emotion and feeling. This bronze sculpture is about seven and a half feet tall. It is thin and tall in a wavering, undefined diamond shape, almost flame like with a man climbing up inside it. The look is both inspirational and encouraging. The City of Mesa web site describes the sculpture: «The overall design of this sculpture is that of a flame, representing the flame of desire that burns inside a man. Inside the rock crevice, a man — strong in body, mind and determination — struggles to pull himself up a difficult passage to reach the top. His fate is in his own hands, and only with self-discipline will he reach the top.»(1) Chris Navarro’s art is a proven winner. This is a centerpiece selected by our city as part of our permanent city art collection to display for visitors and the public. Compared to the other artwork in the permanent collection, it makes a true statement of our ambition and willingness to strive to obtain higher goals both as a city and as a people. If you haven’t been downtown to see and enjoy this sculpture, definitely put it on your list. It’s well worth your time. I rate this sculpture as a five star contribution to our city’s collection of sculptures.
