Old diner that is a truck stop diner knock off. Old rude people working here that cant wait to take a smoke brake. Food is greasy and cooked in veg oil. No flavor and bland. Save your self grief and fine a Dennys

You like the Ben E. Keith truck? Then this is the place for you. The CFS was a perfect oval, the mac n cheese tasted processed, the fake butter was oily, the mashed potatoes were okay. Then again, you are paying $ 6.99 for a meet and 3 sides. And the only difference between the smoking section and the non-smoking is that one doesn’t have ash trays on the table. That’s probably why the place is so popular as you can still smoke at this place til your heart goes out.

After telling our greeter that we chose to be seated in the the non-smoking section we became quickly aware that the entire restaurant was the smoking section. We couldn’t stay long enough to place our orders as the smell was unbearable. They didn’t seem to be suffering from any lack of patronage, however.

My dad is a character. There’s always a joke. The waitress at Paula Sue’s knew exactly how to handle his type. Dad: What do you get when you cross a cheetah with a hamburger? Waitress: I am SURE I do not want to know. Dad: FASTFOOD! The waitress rolled her eyes and walked away while my dad giggled like an 8-year old boy. You gotta love that! And that’s the difference between an four-star greasy spoon and a three-star one. The folks working there! My grandmother loves this place because the chicken fried steak is not really a steak per se. It’s very tender. But it’s way better than one you’d get at some fast food joint. And the sides are pretty dang awesome. I had a stuffed bell pepper with hominy(which was super fantastic), blackeyed peas and mac-n’cheese. That’s how the lunch special works. You get an entrée and three whopping sides with homemade rolls. This place can’t compete with your gourmet comfort food joints, but as far as diner food goes, this place is near Barbec’s. If I were just basing it on food I would have thrown a three-star review out there, but the staff was just over the top great. My one itty bitty complaint is that it’s in Mesquite which still allows smoking in their restaurants. We were in the non-smoking section, but I could still smell it. After a few minutes it didn’t bother me as much but I’m spoiled by the Dallas ordinance. Otherwise this was a great place to grab birthday lunch with my grandmother.
