It was my first time selling a car, and I didn’t really know all the procedures. I found this place upon learning that I needed a notarized bill of sale in the state of Louisiana, and I thought that the $ 15 was reasonable, so I didn’t look any further and decided to go out of my way to go here. The car sale was a Craigslist deal, I didn’t know the guy well, and I was just trying to do what I need to get the deal done so that I could move on with my life. I thought all we needed to do was fill out a form and sign it in the presence of a notary and get the stamp and go. Well, when the notary asked for both our drivers licenses, I was forthcoming with mine but then the buyer started to go on and on about how he was getting the car for his daughter. The notary started to explain that I’m going to need the buyer info on the bill of sale but then quickly said that it’s up to us and that he can’t make us do anything. I really would have liked clearer professional advice here. The buyer kept rambling about how it was for his daughter and she’s in California, so I blurted out, «I don’t care,» as in I don’t care what he and his daughter figure out, and I said that I wanted to do what was supposed to be done to not get in trouble with the DMV. But once the notary heard me say I don’t care, I guess he took that as I don’t care about anything at all and he didn’t care to listen to anything I said after that, and he just proceeded to make copies and gave me the paperwork saying, «15 dollars.» I clarified multiple times, saying that when I said I don’t care, I meant that I don’t care what the buyer and his daughter work out, and I would in fact like to do what I am supposed to do as far as the paperwork is concerned. And the notary just sat there waiting for his 15 bucks and did not offer any help. The notary did tell me to turn the plate into the DMV asap. I don’t know if Absolute has the means to take the plate and didn’t offer it to me because I wasn’t using them for a more expensive service or what, or if they just don’t offer to take license plates, but I ended up going to another title place that was willing to take the plate without a fee, and those guys were a lot friendlier and gave me a lot more information and advice. And you know what? A bill of sale there would have been $ 10. Needless to say, I will not be bringing any future business here.

I was referred to a notary a few blocks away from here but was surprised when u was told it’d be $ 65 just get a bill of sale notarized. I got on to Unilocal outside and absolute titles came up first, I called and it was only $ 15! Wow! Such a big difference. I stopped what I was doing, went down the street to absolute. And I must say I was very very very satisfied! The customer service was excellent!!! After I got my bill of sale notarized I came back to complete my auto title transfer! Everyone was pleasant and it went smoothly. I would definitely suggest this place if you need something notarized or a title transfer. I’m not sure of their other services but give them a call!!!
