So New Orleans doesn’t have a lot of great sushi places mainly because they all think imitation crab is snow crab, but this place has some of the best sushi I’ve had in town. They have a happy hour all week on half price sushi and that combined with tvs to watch football makes this a top sushi destination for me!

I personally believe this is the best food I’ve had from any restaurant in Old Metairie, not to mention the best variety of food. Yum all the way, you can’t go wrong here.

I’ve dined here at least 5 times and every single time the food has been amazing. The sushi is SO good. The combination of flavors that a lot of their rolls entail has my taste buds dancing. I’ve had a handful of dishes off of their regular menu, too, and they’ve all been dynamite. This is easily in my top 3 restaurants in the New Orleans area. And, you know what puts the cherry on top of this place? The fact that they are on . That means, you can go to that website and purchase a $ 25 gift certificate to Conola for under $ 10. I usually wait until has a coupon code which puts the certificate at only $ 2 – 4. YOUMUSTDINEHERE. Try something from both menus. This place is exceptional!

This place is a hidden gem in Old Metairie. Really. Service is always top notch and the variety of foods keep things interesting. I’ve tried quite a few of their dishes and none disappoint. My favorite is the fried goat cheese appetizer with Tasso. Try it! You will thank me :)

This is the old Sun Ray Grill location. I would stick more to the grill than the sushi here. For the price there is better sushi in the area. The flaw of Sun Ray Grill was that the menu became too complicated as it tried to do too many genres of food and that mindset has continued into this establishment. They need to focus on making their grill items the best they can be and leave the sushi to sushi joints or dedicate to being a full sushi joint. They do most things good but with a bit more focus they could do things great.

The best burger I had. Period!!! We would have missed the real feel of New Orleans if we would have missed it. Ask for Ken and Brian, you will be in great hand, they will take care of the rest!

Accidentally stumbled across this place while browsing Unilocal.I can not believe that it has been open a year and I had never heard of it. A well kept secret indeed. Everythihng was amazing. The selection of food and craft cocktails, the sushi and the best bread pudding that I have had in awhile. The service was fantastic. Our server was so concerned with pleasing us that we actually thought that he was the owner. Will be back for a big bowl of jalapeño grits!

Love this place! Great to come with kids and or foodies. Comfortable laid back atmosphere. We got the crawfish hush puppies for and appetizer. Then for dinner we split the All American and Blushing geisha. While both were delicious the Blushing geisha was our favorite, with the jalapeño cream cheese inside! The cucumber lemon-aid was a refreshing alternative! Our new place for sushi, we will definitely return.

I took a chance on this spot just off Metairie Road for lunch last week. And I think it has a bit of an identity crisis and is trying to be all things to all people. It has sushi AND is an Asian influenced Bistro AND has a burger selection AND looks like it might be a straight up bar(based on the drink menu) at night… even more so then the Sun Ray Grill location that was here previously. Nothing on the grill menu jumped out at me so I opted for sushi for lunch. I had a couple of pieces of nigiri(tuna & salmon) and an avocado/cucumber roll, along with a miso. The miso was incredibly salty. The nigiri was well cut and beautifully presented and the avocado/cucumber roll was the perfect palate cleanser. For me, there is too much cream cheese in the roll menu, but that may be what sells in the area. My server was hustling and the spot did have a fair amount of business for 2pm on a Thursday. Ultimately this was probably a 3.5 for me, but the service and the sunny locale upped it to a 4 star.

This is only going off of the sushi I have had here — but I am hoping to try the grill menu soon enough! You like white fish? Come here. You like a good happy hour for sushi rolls? Come here. You like good beer variety and TVs for watching your favorite game? Come here. The atmosphere is calm and happy, but it’s friendly and welcoming nevertheless. The sushi is some of the freshest I’ve had in a while — and I really can’t even compare it to most places in Metairie — it’s that much better. The servers are goofy and fun, but attentive and helpful if you need them to be. I think the owner is also the master behind the sushi, and he KILLS it and making this stuff. Man… I got the All American Roll — something I’m normally not into, and was blown away by the filet mignon on top. Whew! The Blushing Geisha and other rolls were also wonderful and original. But yes, the white fish. It is my favorite, but I am always so disappointed when I get it at most other restaurants. Here, y’all, it was like butter. Just melts in your mouth. I could eat that nigiri all day. Anyway, go for the sushi, stick around for the grill menu and great set up for watching your favorite sports. I should also mention that while I was eating there last, who do I see but THOMASMORSTEAD eating with a few friends! Also, fun fact — that man can devour nine sushi rolls. NINE. So, this place has my approval(very important) and also Thomas Morstead’s… I don’t know what more you could ask for! Oh wait, and the mix drinks are great… try the grilled watermelon martini. My boyfriend got it and was completely blown away. A+ y’all.

Man, this place is pretty good. It would have earned a full five stars except the rolls were lacking special sauces, they were good, don’t get me wrong but what sets special rolls apart from regular rolls are usually a sauce or two. The sunomono was different than what I was used to and I didn’t particularly like it. But the goat cheese fritters were yummmmmy. We had a gift certificate for $ 25 off $ 50 so we ate like kings and our bill after tax and before tip was $ 29. Cannot beat that with a stick. We will be back. We enjoyed it!

We were a table of four among 13 total guest for a brunch crowd. Our order consisted of three breakfast items and a sandwich which took a full hour to make after placing it.

Upon the referral of a friend who normally has similar tastes as we do, we went to dine here last night. After looking at the reviews and knowing the place has been around for about 6 months, we were anxious to give it a go. If you remember the layout of the old Sun Ray Grill that was in the space, there has been little if any change to the inside look and feel, which is one of the first things that actually caught me. We decided to get the roasted cauliflower with garlic bordelaise as a starter. We’ve had roasted cauliflower at other places and I even make a version of it at home, so this was something we were very much looking forward to trying. It was ok, but tasted like it could use a few more minutes in the roasting process. It also could’ve done with a tad more seasoning. Bordelaise, as I’ve been understood to know it, is a demi glacé type of sauce. This wasn’t very much like that, nor did it really taste like it had any garlic — this coming from my wife, who can taste when anything we eat has even a hint of garlic in it. We were also trying to figure out what the 3 slivers of cheese were doing on top in addition to it. As entrees, we ordered the shrimp and grits as well as the root beer braised short ribs, which we found from the person serving us were two of the most popular dishes. The shrimp and grits was good — the sauce was a reddish tomato sauce, which was a nice vehicle for the grits and carried along the spice nicely. The short ribs had a nice taste to them as well although I failed to taste anything that would remind me that they were braised with root beer — usually there’s something in the taste profile that would indicate as such. The staff made a faux pas was when they gave us someone else’s bill(the table next to us). Thankfully, fortunately, they were literally the exact same price for 2 completely separate sets of orders(what are the odds, eh?). They apologized as we paid. Some props on presentation for all of the dishes. A little eyebrow raise on the menu editing inconsistencies, especially after being up and running for a half year. Online, some of the dishes are said to come with mashed potatoes and in the menus we had, they were listed as «mash» potatoes. On the dessert side of the menu, ganach is missing an ‘e’ at the end. I may come back to give it another try and get a couple of other items, or try them during lunch, but in a city that offers so many different and wonderful eating places, this one was just a tad bit disappointing and underwhelming.

The sushi is delicious! I had the Spicy Tuna & Avocado Roll & the Shrimp Tempura Roll. The Tuna was fresh and perfectly spicy, the shrimp tempura was good, nothing über spectacular but very big! The presentation is adorable as shown in my picture and the service was good! The waiter was super nice and even chased after my friend once he realized she left her keys on the counter. Only complaint? There was a weird smell when I first walked in… like a dirty mop or something. They should look into that lol.

I always like the food options that keep popping up in the city. This place opened up a couple of blocks from my house, it used to be a Sun Ray Grill. Now, it’s a cool little sushi place with a grill, too. I had two of the rolls, I’m not sure which ones there are so many. I thoroughly enjoyed them, and they are prepared on the spot. My oldest child wanted to try sushi, and ate parts of it but didn’t eat the whole thing, but he seven. My daughter who is almost 4, just wanted chicken and fries. They had no problem getting that out. The prices were expected and not beyond reason at all. Service was efficient and kind, and even the resident regular was helpful when he gave the mussels a thumbs up. He was right, too. I’m definitely going back, and think its a nice addition to our little Old Metairie neighborhood.

My wonderful friend treated me out to dinner here, and I have to say that I was beyond excited! I mean how many places have so many five star reviews? Now that I’ve eaten here in starting to doubt my fellow Unilocalers. I went in for dinner and we had the whole entire restaurant to ourselves. We were there from 7 – 830. Peak dinner time… The service was great, but let’s talk about the food. The menu offers one menu of American entrees like meatloaf and other hearty dishes. The other menu offers sushi rolls and a few raw fish appetizers. I love ceviche-esque apps. We ordered two appetizers from the sushi menu — the beer smoked salmon and the tuna something. The salmon was cooked properly but it barely had flavor. I know you’re not supposed to have much flavor so that you can taste the fish itself but I would have liked more of a citrusy lime type of flavor or some kind of kick, really anything. It was almost like we ordered sashimi. The tuna appetizer was mashed up raw tuna smeared over a chip, with multiple chips stacked on top. This was also missing the same flavor I was hoping for. Then we got the highly recommend roll with the steak on top — I believe all American roll. …I hate to be so mean but it tasted like grocery store sushi. Then we ordered the Thai barbecue chicken. The chicken was very very dry. I didn’t really taste anything Thai about it: it was two chicken breasts with a sweet and sour type sauce on it. The Thai rice was really sweet and delicious though. Overall, I was really disappointed in how every single item we ordered lacked flavor! I’m not a put-salt-on-your-dish type of person, but if you are I think you’ll like it. I however, did not.
