It was a beautiful night for catching a suburban parade. Plenty of floats, marching bands, and beads. Our favorite place to catch the parade is the u-turn on Severn. A lot of other people also like to catch it here. We park at a friend’s house, eat and party the afternoon away, and when we hear the noise of the parade, we start walking. Of course, since we arrive«late» we are stuck in the back, but the throws really are not why we go. And what I do catch tends to go to whatever child happens to be near me.

The Krewe of Caesar is the best Metairie parade to roll during carnival season. They have the most beautiful costumes, great floats, and tons of throws. It is the closest thing Jefferson parish has to a super krewe. Like all Carnival parades, some areas along the route are easier to access than others. The last few years we have enjoyed catching it along the Bonnabel Blvd. turn-around. Parking isn’t too bad, there is plenty of room for everyone to hang out before the parade, and you can practically catch the parade twice, once on either side of the street.

The Krewe of Caesar has been rolling for 33yrs and their signature float is the Hydra(not sure what it is exactly but it looks like a dragon). This is the largest parade outside of NOLA city limits with over 600 members! If you want to see a parade in Metairie during Mardi Gras this is one of the ones not to be missed. It is full of local high school bands and cool floats. RECOMMEND!
