This place is ok. It’s a like in hole the wall place. Looks like a neighborhood convienience store. Food is alright; a bit pricey for what they serve. We order a 12 inch shrimp poboy and large cheese fries to split. The cook behind the counter was nice enough to serve the poboys on seperate plates. The cheese fries was a very big portion. We only ate a third of that. My boyfriend didnt like that the poboy was served on sesame covered french bread. I didnt mind it too much. The shrimp were nice sized but this was definitely NOT overstuffed. The lettuce and tomato were shredded and diced and sparce. It just really wasnt anything worth bragging about. It was just… ok. We left out of there full but not satisfied. We contemplated on what better options we had with the money we just wasted on this place. We couldve split a kobe beef burger at cheesecake factory for probably the same price. Im not even crazy for cheesecake factory’s atmosphere. Well, lesson learned. Always gonna be hit or miss when trying new places. I always have high hopes for small mom and pop businesses but for the most part this was somewhat of a let down.

Best turkey sandwich I’ve ever had. Cheap and easy to order. My friend had the roast beef and loved it.

Great dressed roast beef poboys. Yes it’s a convenience store with zero ambience, but if you are in the area it’s worth the stop. We have been coming here for years. Parkway is the best in the city, Qwik Check is a good choice if you are closely.

I passed by Qwik-Check for years before ever going inside. I didn’t have great expectations since it looked like a convenient store on the outside, but to my surprise they had a full menu of seafood poboys, platters and daily specials. The mom and pop operated store gives a friendly atmosphere. They have coolers in the back of endless drink choices. They sell chips and candy bars too. You order at the counter, but they have a good amount of tables inside to give you the option to stay and eat. I tried the catfish platter and it was just as good if not better than any catfish I had at any other well known establishments. Another great thing about this place is they cater! Everything from mini muffalettas to jambalaya. The prices are very friendly on your pocket, but the flavor and freshness is all there! I am so happy I found this little secret! Or maybe its not so secret to everyone else since they are always quite busy!

Great sandwiches at value prices. You can’t bet the roast beef«overstuffed» poboy! I like to get a side of gravy for my fries.

I was born and raised in Metairie, but I’ve been in Baton Rouge since 95. I’m always on a search for a great RB poboy and this one is at top of my list. A lot of well flavored meat, on a loaf of sesame seed French bread. Delicious gravy and plenty of it. I disagree with another poster that it is thin on the meat and gravy. I rate this one slightly under Mother’s, but slightly better than Short stop. I’ll definitely be back.

I would kill to find out where they get their ham, it is so good! No ham I get at the grocery store even compares. The seeded bread makes any po-boy taste 100 times better, in my opinion. This is just a perfect sandwich! Simple, but every element of it is a hit. I can’t get off the overstuffed ham poboy long enough to try any of their other offerings!

This is definitely a dive atmosphere… a Metry strip mall dive that is. They serve their po boys on Italian style bread with sesame seeds like R&O’s does. Their po boys run smaller and seem to have less meat than a lot of other places which I guess is to up-sell you on their«overstuffed» option. The roast beef is alright and has some decent flavor and has some juiciness but not a whole lot of gravy deliciousness to it. The seafood gumbo has some good flavor but the roux is a bit thin and watery for my taste. I’m pretty disappointed they don’t have fresh brewed iced tea here and only offer bottled drinks, beer, liquor, or fountain drinks. The folks that work here will give you a good exposure the Yat accent and seem to be really nice people. I would certainly recommend up-sizing to the overstuffed option when ordering a po boy as that makes it a much better value and sandwich. Certainly worthy of a visit on a po boy tour of Metairie but it probably wouldn’t be my first stop. If they just served iced tea and the prices/portion size were a bit of a better value this would be a three star joint.

If you’re in the Clearview and West Napoleon area of Metairie and are looking for a good poboy, I recommend Qwik Chek. They offer overstuffed poboys as well as hot plates and salads. We like to order the overstuffed bbq beef poboy and the hot sausage poboy They have about 20 different poboys to choose from. I like their bread, but some may not — as it has sesame seeds on it. They have a few tables to eat there, but we mostly order ahead and get it to go. We also like that they sell the Barq’s Root Beer in bottles there. Gotta have the cold bottle of Barq’s with your poboy!
