If you value your data and systems, do not send in your Macs to these people to be serviced. Had a screen failure and purchased a new MBP through Shear Systems. Needed to have drives cloned and a Time Machine drive setup, too. Upon picking-up the new MBP, Shear did not want to give me back my old MBP. After some confusion, I bluntly said, «Did you expect to keep my laptop for free?» I own that laptop. At this point, the owner appeared to realize I wasn’t leaving without all my gear, gave me back my laptop with all the screws missing and refused to give them to me. Then said when he had time, he would mail them to me. Never got them back. All I could think is you bring your car in for service, they take it apart, and you decide to buy a new one instead. Does the dealership get to keep your old car? And when you ask for your old car back, they don’t put it back together? Thank god nothing was destroyed.
