Awesome grilled panini cheese sandwiches with slow roasted pulled pork on fresh home baked bread. Washed down with fresh squeezed strawberry lemonade.

The food here is a perfect example of how delicious and wholesome food can be when it is handcrafted with artisan ingredients by someone who knows what they are doing and who truly cares about how he does it. I had a Mocha Expresso(Real expresso, mind you. Not that crap you get at Starbucks) And a bacon and cheese panini with sweet pickle chips. The bread is handmade and the bacon and cheese blend well with the sweet acidity of the pickle chips.

This place is just fun. The staff are super nice and friendly, love to chat about local tales, and have a wide assortment of memorabilia, snacks, and trinkets. My personal fav, the popcorn and popcorn flavorings. Metamora is a historical treasure in Indiana that needs to be preserved and celebrated.

Funny name for a great place to eat! Smelly himself made our food. I was too hungry to take a before pic, but the cornbread is made with ground corn from the grist mill here in Metamora! You get a little cup of caramel corn for dessert included with your meal. Spooky the cat is super friendly, as are all the wait staff!

Wow, what a find! Smelly Gourmet is a quaint gift shop and so much more! Their coffees, Cheese Panini, and chili are outstanding. Be sure to get the chilli kit, so that you can make your own at home to please your guests. Popcorn is also the best. Be sure to get the Carmel Corn. You’ll wish you bought more. Of course, they have a great selection of gifts and crafts. I think we left a few things for others to purchase. Smelly(Steve) and his wife are fun to talk with. Smelly’s is across from the Rail and Canal in quaint Metamora, Indiana. We drove this time but we’re taking the train down from Connersville in a few weeks.

This is a cute little shop in the heart of Metamora. My fiancé and I met the owners who are very nice! We enjoyed a sloppy joe grilled cheese panini which was excellent and we purchased some of their popcorn to enjoy later. This store is a must see if you are visiting Metamora!

Sometimes you just need to get out of the«rat race» if anything, for your own sanity. Back in July of 2014 I found myself taking such a trip. I grabbed my wife and daughter, and hopped on the nearest express way. At the start of the trip we were not sure where we wanted to go we drove through Down Town Cincinnati, Price Hill, Western Hills and could not find anything that we wanted to see finally I just threw out the idea of Metamora Indiana; and off we went. I was sorry to see so many of the shops closed because it was a weekday and some were just«closed closed» as in out of business. But after a bit of walking around we ended up at a coffee house called /sandwich shop/gift shop/gourmet popcorn store!!! Gee talk about an identity crisis!!! Contrary to it’s name The Smelly Gourmet wasn’t smelly at all, as a matter of fact I could tell by the smells something special was going on here. We all had a seat and ordered some lunch. I had a Philly Steak. Now my travels to the«City of Brotherly Love» has found me at many Philly Steak joints. After taking alight of Smelly’s Philly I thought this might be able to hang with some of the BIGBOYS!!! The meat was tender and flavorful the only we done perfectly and the bread was lightly toasted which really added something special. If you find yourself in Metamora you should check out the Smelly Gourmet!!!

Sometimes random road trips lead you off the beaten path, and in this case, it brought me to the Smelly Gourmet in Metamora, IN. This Coffee/Unique gift shop is a must if you find yourself in this quaint little town. Upon entry, you are greeted by a friendly hello and a sample of some of popcorn. The drink menu lists a nice selection of the usual coffee drinks, as well as a few specialties. If your a peanut butter lover, I highly recommend the peanut butter mocha. This sweet drink is a real treat. They do offer a selection of sandwiches; however, I cannot comment on them. I recommend taking a look around the shop, as they sell numerous unique gifts, including soaps and oils. The«Geek Sculptures» were fun to look at as well. While it maybe an acquired taste, computer geeks will appreciate the effort to turn long outdated parts into functioning clocks and other goodies. Overall, a must visit when you are in Metamora.

Stopped on to check it out. Coffee smelled good but not a coffee drinker. Checked out the prices of their sandwiches, a nice place but not much more to see.

I’m a «sometimes» coffee drinker. I like a good cup of coffee now and then, but I’m not that in the know about all the subtle differences in coffee. That said, Smelly makes a darn fine cup of coffee. If you’ve got an idea of what you might like, he or his staff are quick to make suggestions and are always spot on, at least for me. I’ve never had one of his sandwiches, but they look great, and, as an added bonus, he’s very in the know about the local area. It’s a nice, comfortable place to stop and I’ve always had a great experience there.

By all means, if you are hungry then make it a point to stop by for a bite. I had the Greek Panini. This sandwich is a joy to eat because of the bread, a component is corn which has been ground in the local Grist Mill. Included with the sandwich is a pickle and deep fried flour chips which reminded me of southwest fry bread. To top it all off, I had the peach cobbler w/ice cream and finally a cappuccino. YES, this coffee tastes like that served in Italy.

The Smelly Gourmet is unique, fun and serve some darn good coffee! It’s conveniently located in the heart of Metamora’s shopping! An old town with dirt roads, wooden walkways and plenty of history. The owners are so friendly and funny! They are easy to talk to and it’s obvious they love what they do. They are not only a coffee shop, but a unique gift shop as well! They make and sell gourmet popcorn, jewelry and bath & body products as well as many other hand made unique items! The Smelly Gourmet is a must if you’re in Metamora! I LOVELOVELOVE the peanut butter mocha. Ridiculous… Thank you for the great coffee and the laughs!

My husband and I stopped in Metamora for an afternoon this summer. It was during the week, so not much was going on. We stumbled into this store and had a nice conversation with the owners. They were awesome! We also got to sample some of their popcorns. We liked the hull free best. The kernels are very small, but there really are virtually no hulls. If you find yourself in Metamora, I would suggest a stop here.
