Prices very reasonable. Food very good. Excellent sausage gravy. Excellent chicken soup. Service a little slow but there was only one waitress on duty.

This place is your standard country diner. There are men arguing religion at one table, a bunch of hunters at another, and a mish-mosh of families, and other diners. The coffee is constantly flowing and the service is helpful and friendly. The food is good. The prices are also good. Two adult breakfasts, a kids breakfast, a juice, and three coffees was about $ 22.(No, we don’t give the nugget coffee, my FIL doesn’t normally eat breakfast) Whenever we are visiting family in Metamora we always stop here for breakfast. don’t forget to bring some quarters for the kiddos… they have several candy and toy machines in the foyer.

My family stops in for breakfast when we are in the area. The food has always been very good and the servings plentiful. Our servers and host have always been pleasant and make us feel they are glad to serve us.

The service here was incredible. Very impressed. They checked on our coffee often. Very friendly and hopping staff. I had the Mediterranean omelet. I get this at almost every breakfast place I go to, but this was by far my favorite that I’ve ever had. The combination of veggies, gyro meat and topping of Greek yogurt made this a standout and a real treat. I feel like I might start putting it on all my omelets. The best part is our bill was only 14 bucks for two people with coffee and solid portions. Owner was also visible and attentive. It’s a diner so the environment and food are going to be on that level, but I was impressed for how well they pulled it off. Very satisfied.

Average ma and Pa restaurant. Had the Reuben sandwich. Below average. Omelette looked good. Wifi didn’t work. Would not return.

If you are looking for a great breakfast, this is the right spot. All their breakfast menu items are at a good price. The skillets are amazing. I love the chef skillet! Everything you want for breakfast thrown into a skillet and covered in gravy. You can also substitute your eggs for egg white/beaters, so if you trying to eat healthier this is a good option.

We walked in around 245pm Saturday, dining room was not crowded. Staff walked by and made eye contact 3 times. No greeting, no acknowledgement, never seated. We left and won’t return.

I’m local to Metamora, and eat here often with my kids. For the price, the Flame can’t be beat. For barely more than we’d pay next door at McDonalds, we can have a much more delicious meal. We love their breakfasts. Omelets are delicious!

Excellent food and service! The owner is super nice and gives free desserts to you quite often! Price is right and you get a lot if food… enough to take home for a second meal! They make delicious homemade soups as well and serve excellent coffee! Try the homemade Chicken-n-Dumpling soup… A+++++

Great portions of food. The service is friendly and the prices are more than fair. My only compliant is that sometimes the meat is over cooked and a little dry. I guess that’s why it comes with gravy. I have been here multiple times with my teenage son. The daily specials are usually the way to go.

Service was friendly … really good Reuben Sandwich and burgers … wife wasn’t too impressed with her bland iceberg lettuce wedge salad and her dried out meatloaf special was okay because she applied layers of ketchup … broccoli cheese soup seemed like it was fresh out of the can … sorry …

Very underwhelming food. I’ve tried breakfast and dinner at The Flame and while the staff are always polite and friendly, the food is just not good. I wish it were great since I live here!

The Flame seems to really stand out in Metamora, the owner is Armenian I think, and his food quality really shows his love of what he’s doing. The food is pretty assuredly home made, and not just poured out of a bag from Sysco, We have eaten breakfast here several times, but was happy to learn we could have lunch items during breakfast hours. The Hot Turkey was great. It can get busy on Sunday mornings.

Turkey and mashed potatoes were the real deal(no slimy processed turkey or rehydrated potatoes), and the prices were very reasonable.

I went here with a couple of friends. The gyro was pretty good, but the chocolate mousse cake was quite heavenly. The owner recognized my friends as regulars, knew their names and was very personable.

I went to visit my friend this weekend in the sleepy town of Metamora, IL. After waking up to a bright brisk morning, breakfast was in order. With limited dining options in this town of 3,000 people, looks like The Flame Family Restaurant was basically our only choice. The décor in here is like country traditional, no frills but they do have a nice fish tank. The service here was alright and I thought the food here was just okay. I was not a fan of their pancake though. It was a very dense cake like pancake and I don’t like those. My other friends that went had skillets and french toast. Again, I don’t think the skillet was anything to rave about but everything was okay. I wasn’t expecting much for this place but everything was okay.
