Love this place! Food is great, employees are awesome and the building and décor are beautiful. Take a nice drive out to Metamora, although M24 needs to be resurfaced badly. There is a great selection of salads, vegetarian, sandwiches and entrees. The best by far though are the incredible desserts. I love this is casual and very affordable.

The White Horse Inn in Metamora, MI is one of my newest favorite places. The food is excellent and you cannot beat the warm cozy feeling of the riding stable décor. I would recommend this wonderful place for a luncheon or dinner spot for a fun and romantic dining experience. It gives the feel of going back in time with the wonderful history of the building and location. The tree in the floor is absolutely magnificent. I love the warm and inviting feel you get when you walk through the doors.

The White Horse Inn is a very nice place to eat. The waitress was very, very nice and the food was delicious. On their menu, they labeled vegetarian and non-vegetarian food which was very nice. The building is near to look at, with beautiful horse paintings and drawing along the walls. Overall, this is a very nice place to eat and is good to take a family to. Also, I admired the saddles that were on the walls, and the bridles– a cool horse theme! As for the food, they had a decent amount of vegetarian food but only 2 entrées that were vegetarian. I ended up getting a black bean quesadilla and that tasted amazing, lots of beans! My mom got a turkey Rueben which turned out to be the vey best turkey rueben she had ever had! I recommend both the quesadilla and the rueben.

The most gorgeous setting to enjoy reimagined classics like the Cowboy Mac & Cheese or any of the daily specials. Cannot say enough good things about the oatmeal pie. Don’t ask questions — just get it.

What a gem! Fantastic food and service. Truly a unique restaurant that stays close to the authenticity of the local area throughout the menu and architecture. A must if you are hosting out of towners.

If I could give it 10 stars for atmosphere and service, I would! What a unique find! We started off with two snifter glasses of this amazing dark Stout called Neapolitan milk Stout or something like that. Next, we had a Michigan cherry chicken salad over lettuce as an appetizer and it was the best chicken salad we ever tasted! We also had an awesome black bean soup! we were a little full after that so we decided to split the Buffaloaf, because it sounded unique. Unfortunately, it was a little dry. It seems like it was all meat and no filler and there was no side of vegetables, only a small amount of mashed potatoes and sweet brown gravy. But, it was still very good. We will definitely be back when we are out this way again!

Went with some friends who raved about the food and atmosphere. It totally lived up to the hype! Cowboy mac and cheese was great and the oatmeal pie was phenomenal. Also enjoyed walking through to look at the décor. A beautiful place with great food.

I found this place on Unilocal, and after reading all of the positive reviews I had to try it. This place is worth all of the positive reviews. My husband and I went and I had the buffalo meatloaf and he had a Rueben. My meatloaf was amazing! My husband liked his Rueben, but said it wasn’t the best he had ever had. But hey, it’s not a deli ;) We ended our meal with some oatmeal Carmel cake/pie think that also was amazing. This place is also in one of the coolest, quant places I have ever been to. Very warm and rustic. Loved it

We’ve gone there twice, both for special occasions(my wife’s birthday in May, and our wedding anniversary this past Saturday). The food is great. My wife has had the salmon(off the menu) and a lasgna off of the daily specials menu. I had the Cowboy Mac & Cheese and the Buffalo meat loaf. Very good. The place is incredible. I wish they had some ‘before’ pictures to show the work that I know they did just by reading about the recent restoration. It’s nice that the owners put so much work, love, and money into making this gem come back. The only reason I’m taking away one star is that the service was not very good on our visit last weekend. We observed that the waitress’ family was eating dinner, and they finished up and left about halfway through our meal. I think that she was trying to leave with them or get out of her shift early, as she really pushed us to order, brought the food out almost immediately after our drinks, and brought us our bill mid-way through the meal without even finding out if we wanted dessert, more drinks, or boxes. This was a special occasion for us, and while we’ll go back without question, it would have been nice to have things a bit more relaxed, something we were really looking forward to since we have so few nights where it’s just the two of us.

Underseasoned main dishes. All three of us had to add salt with such disparate dishes as Mac n cheese, walleye and chicken pot pie. Salads were overdressed swimming in dressing House pickles and bread while unexciting in description was the best dish of the night. Bread and butter pickles with beer cheese bread. Skip the meal and have a drink at the bar with the pickles.

Come and try for yourself. Good atmosphere. Today had the spinach salad with maple vinagaret dressing. It was excellent. My wife had Ruben, and the meat was very tender. Commented to waiter and he told us that they cure the meat on site. This was our second visit and will definitely return several more times.

An absolute Michigan gem that’s worth the drive, no matter how far you have to come. The restaurant itself is beautiful, more than restored to its original glory. The new owners spared no expense with the rich wood floors and bar, incredible stonework, chandeliers and unique artwork, much of it the work of local artists. The food is top-notch. Highly recommend the brussels sprouts appetizer: flash-fried and dusted with parmesan cheese. The black and blue filet was perfectly prepared along with the fresh carrots and baked potato that came with it. To top it all off, their oatmeal pie might have been the best dessert I’ve ever eaten. Paired with their homemade ice cream, it was absolutely phenomenal.

Visited the White Horse Inn on Saturday with six friends. Our table(s) were ready and waiting at the appointed time. I forget our server’s name, but she was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable. Waters arrived immediately & drink orders were taken. They have a good selection of Michigan-made craft beers. I ordered the BBQ ribs w/sweet potato fries and a side(Winter) salad. The ribs are dry rub and were done to perfection and served hot — a nice generous portion. The sweet potato fries were barely warm and becoming soft — almost too soft to enjoy. The Winter side salad w/vinaigrette was very good. My dining companions enjoyed their meals. Only one ordered dessert, and he liked his bread pudding. Gripes: — No hand towels or blow dryer in the men’s room.(Minus 1-star) — Lots of hard surfaces = above average noise levels. But there is a very nice looking patio w/tables on the east side of the bldg. Next time — when it is not raining! — WiFi. They’ve got it. Serious security problems. Dunno if their service has been hacked or if their ISP is up-to-something very unsavory. Do not use their WiFi for anything that requires a login. — Speed trap on the west side of Metamora — the limit is 35MPH. Not a gripe; just an observation: There was a carriage horse ride operation, pulled by a team of two black horses. My bride corrected me; apparently, for whatever breed they were … black(their color) is called ‘brown.” Go figure. CCW friendly.

First time there since it was remodeled and under new ownership. In short, everything was fabulous. Could not recommend it more. Food selections were awesome and everything is house-made. Black and blue filet was cooked perfectly as was the prime rib my wife had. House made sangria was great. Big hit with my wife and, therefore, I enjoyed it too. :) As others have said, the menu had choices for everyone. The remodel itself is brilliant. Still maintains that 1850 vibe somehow while still feeling modern and cozy. Absolute must try!

Amazing! Hats off to the owners for«bringing back» the Inn with ingenuity, creativity and loving attention to the Inn’s historical significance . Food was excellent, wait staff friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely return and will recommend it to others. The destination is certainly worth the journey.

Drove out for lunch with a co-worker last week. The décor is absolutely amazing. They have done a great job with the renovation. We ordered the Balarney Stones. They were corned beef with sauerkraut and cheese which is breaded and fried. We both thought they were awesome and will order again next time. We also ordered a cedar plank salmon and open faced portabella sandwich to share. The salmon was the best I have had in years. It wasn’t dry like other places I’ve been and had great flavor to it. The broccoli was perfectly steamed too. The portabella sandwich was very colorful with great complimenting flavors. It was topped with small steamed broccoli florets, peppers, grilled onions and green goddess dressing. The server was courteous, efficient and also thoughtful of my 5 month old son that I brought with me. I am looking forward to our next trip to The White Horse Inn soon!

Was in town visiting family and ate here. I guess they had been wanting to go for some time and needed an excuse, well I was it. The building has a great ambiance and the atmosphere inside is awesome. My kind of place. Everything on the menu looked great. I’m a sucker for mac and cheese so I went with the cowboy mac. It was amazing and comparable to one of my favorite restaurants that I won’t mention! Couple people in our party had the filet and they were impressed. Took about 45 minutes with traffic from Waterford so we weren’t close. Definitely worth the trip.

What a beautiful building with rich history and ambiance. The White Horse Inn has been bought back to its full potential with wonderful décor, art and food to match. I had the cowboy Mac and cheese and it was phenomenal. It was rich with flavor and owey and goey like Mac and cheese should be. This is a destination spot that didn’t disappoint at all. It was about a 30 minute drive from my house and was completely worth the trip. We will be back very soon.

I’m truly a fan of this place. I understand it being a historical place and the ambiance probably has me a little biased but nevertheless it was beyond my expectations. We were a party of 15 and had a great time. We were there on a Wednesday and the place was packed. Mind it, that metamora is a very small town and the place people waiting for lunch until 2.30PM. We were lucky as we were able to make reservation and had a table waiting for us but most groups had to wait some time. Appetizers, we had the Spinach Artichoke dip with corn chips; excellent, toasted bread with parmesan served with pickles; unique but good. I had the black bean burger with pepper jack cheese, it was pretty good. Not sure if they made the patty in house or it was premade. Best part was the house baked warm chocolate chip cookies for dessert, which are made to order. I will be back.
