Rudest delivery driver I have ever encountered! Does not speak English and the English he did speak was swearing about my front steps. Never ordering from here again

In Andover on business, was en route to Mano’s Pizzeria when this gem caught my eye(American Chinese is what I truly was craving). Ambiance is totally lacking so don’t take our date there. I rolled the dice and ordered mushroom egg foo young, veggie fried rice and crab Rangoon. It was the best foo I’ve ever had — nice texture, tasty gravy. Fried rice also solid A. Sweet and sour sauce definitely made in house and was good, not great. Worth a trip into Lawrence. Locks your doors.

I now live in Boston but I have a scale of takeout Chinese. It goes speedy chen(totally inedible) to lucky garden. I haven’t yet found a(Americanized) Chinese food place as good as this one. I still go sometimes when I’m home. Minus a star for the mediocre service.

The food is great I like it a lot. But the attitude I get from the person taking the ORDER is so rude and abnocious, I have a food allergy I asked if a certain dish had nuts or sesame seeds, she is like«are you going to order» I ask her again, about the dish and she keeps sighing on the phone as she is being bothered. This happened to me 3 more times, I called back and I told her I felt and how rude she is, I also told her I am a regular customer twice week for lunch. I will no longer order from there again, she didn’t apologize, I asked for manager or owner she pretended she did not understand English then I asked her name, again she kept saying are you going to order? At this point I had enough and hung up. I then called«Wah Sang» also located in Methuen. The owner owns Lucky Garden and Wah Sang I knew he would be there, I NEVERHAD a problem there but once I moved across town, I decided to order from Lucky Garden. I explained my situation and ow rude this girl is and he apologized and asked me why I don’t order from Wah Sang? I explained since I moved across town I didn’t think they would deliver to me, he checked out my address and said, yes we deliver there. I was glad to hear that, I told him I Will never order from lucky garden again, I will tell my friends and family about my experience. He then apologized again. The following week I called and I ordered for«Wah Sang» and he asked for my address, he then remembered my complaint and thanked me for ordering. When I got my order I noticed an extra item on my order I know I didn’t order it, I called he said this is for my trouble. Hope I can keep ordering from Wah Sang for now on, I agreed and thanked him. I hope this can be helpful to you, I jut don’t agree on keep ordering from a place that don’t give a f$!&@ about you, lol Thanks for reading, please comment. If you have something to say.

The food here is actually pretty good and I recommend trying it for take out preferably because the atmosphere here is a little run down. Their lo mein was really good and so is their crab rangoon. Also the people that work the counters are pretty rude when asked for simple substitutions. Things that most restaurants would change with no issue they would not do for me. I also think it’s a bit weird that they have a bunch of big plants all around the windows it’s really random and not really nice to look at. Maybe it’s time they give their restaurant some TLC and remodel a bit.

I’m nomming on leftover chicken and cashews right now. By far the best I have had. Nicely seared chunks of uncoated chicken and crisp veggies in a light sauce with crunchy cashews. D and I have been trying various Chinese restaurants in the 8+ years since we’ve been living in Methuen. China Tea House, the one that burned down years ago was great but a bit pricey. China Star wad great in some areas but lost us to horrible customer service. Fusion house is amazing but also pricey. Lucky Garden was a nice find when it showed up. The service is great even on the phone and the prices are decent. The food is quite good and like all restaurants, Lucky Garden has some things they do remarkably well such as soups and ALL the appetizers. The beef teriyaki and the scallion pancakes are incredible. D loves the eggrolls more than any other place. The perking ravioli, good as they are have too think a dough for my liking. They are still a high quality product. They also have our name and address in the database when we call so I’m greeted by name. I think we may be getting better treatment as we always have a sizable order and we pay in advance with a credit card. Cash tip to the driver of course. We have crossed out a few things we didn’t care for. Anything with a coating such as General Gau’s Chicken, Orange Beef and all the like we really didn’t like. The coating was far too dense and oily to be enjoyed and the sauce was too sweet. The Ma La Trio, Mongolian Beef, Coconut Shrimp, on the chef specialty sections are a must. The side selections where it says, Beef, Chicken, Seafood and all of them are fairly standard incarnations of each other have failed to disappoint. I have to admit I would love them to start carrying Ma Po Tofu. It’s one of my favorite dishes. In any case Lucky Garden is great for take out. We usually get a 50 dollar order to get the $ 1.00 specials as well as three or four meals. Is it the best Chinese? That’s an opinion one must decide for themselves. Is it quality food? Is it carefully made? Is the service great? Are the prices good? Yes to all of the above. One other point that I think puts this place on the big list of YES is that nothing to me is over salted. Great change from most.

This casual Chinese takeout restaurant(with off-street parking) is conveniently located on Haverhill St(Route 110) near the Methuen/Lawrence line. Lucky Garden is under the same ownership as Wah Sang Restaurant, also in Methuen. The place is order at the counter(kitchen area is visible from behind the counter) with ample self serve«hard» booth seating in the bright dining area surrounded by big glass windows on three sides. They serve up the standard Chinese dishes & items including Szechuan, Mandarin, and Polynesian cuisines and specialties. 15 Luncheon Specials($ 4.75-$ 6.75) served with pork fried rice & choice of appetizer are offered daily before 3PM, except on Sundays & Holidays. 12 Special Combinations($ 7.95-$ 8.95) served with pork fried rice & appetizer(s) and 10 White Rice Specials($ 4.95-$ 6.95) are also offered daily, except New Year’s Eve. Coupon specials(with FREE and $ 1 more items) are offered for purchases over $ 20, $ 30, and $ 45. I stopped in here for lunch recently and ordered the Luncheon Special D($ 5.75 plus tax): Pork Lo Mein with Pork Fried Rice & Chicken Teriyakis(2). The food was ready in under 10 minutes. The Lo Mein dish was cooked just right with soft noodles, pork strips, canned mushrooms, cabbage, onions, sprouts, and carrots, not too oily. The fried rice(light brown color) had tender pork pieces(minimal fat) and mostly firm textured fried rice. However, the chicken teriyaki sticks were fairly charred along the edges including the blackened wooden stick which broke off from the meat. The boneless chicken teriyakis were on the dry side, tender and chewy inside, minimal sweet flavor on the outside. Other than the blackened chicken teriyakis, the food I had was pretty decent with good size portions of food at the right price. DELIVERY: $ 2 charge(over 3 miles $ 3.50)
