I’ve been getting my cakes here for the last 15 years and everyone always loves them. They’re definitely my favorite bakery in the area, and their prices are very reasonable. In addition to the cakes, their cupcakes, cookies, and cannolis are fabulous.

Went there the other day and got some pizza and it was delicious! Not sure why I waited so long to try them out. The sauce is sweet so if you don’t like it that way I wouldn’t recommend it. The girls behind the counter are just a little slow. But other than that I definitely will be back.

Best and yummiest bakery in town. You walk in and I am immediately taken back to the Italian bakeries where I grew up. Love that is family owned and part of the community! Keep up the great work.

As good as any bakery in North End, East Boston, or Revere. The bread is great. Lobster tail is one of the best I’ve ever had. Cannoli’s are filled to order. The signature here is the strawberry shortcake which I bring to functions all the time. It’s that good… I was so happy to find this place when I moved up here. I grew up in an Italian family in Revere and was used to the bakeries in that area. This place seamlessly takes their place.

Wow what a yummy bakery, had this place for the first time last week, I was really impressed by the quality and flavorful desserts they offer. It does not taste like Betty crocker. It’s well worth it and so great. I wish there was a location closer to Peabody Saugus area instead of going way up to Methuen. Anyone who wants really yummy sweets should stop by give it a try don’t rely on people’s comments…

Very good Pastries and Pizza next door. I need to stop coming here before I get to be the size of a house!

To the Guy who posted in 2014, that Piros pizza is not as good as Tripoli, has no clue what he is talking about because that WAS Tripoli’s pizza. I asked once and was told it was Tripoli pizza. Love Piro’s bakery for all breads and pastry, I do not like Tripoli pizza, way too sweet and their pastry has gone down hill big time. Piro’s is the best!!!

I’m not too sure how Piro’s is getting 4 and 5 stars?! Piro’s used to just be a small bakery, but has now expanded with a Pizza Shop. The guy who wrote the review stating they have«tripoli pizza next door» is beyond wrong. You cannot compare Tripoli and Piro’s pizza !! Tripoli’s is sweet and savory, with flaky crust, while Piro’s sauce is not sweet at all, and always has a «I was just pulled from the freezer» taste. Cakes, Cupcakes, Cookies, Pastries I would say are just OK. Truly nothing special, not bad; but ok. I agree the customer service needs to be handled, the girls behind the counter could clearly care less and would rather be elsewhere.

Nothing to write home about. They never have anything ready on time and the pizza is terrible, considering the other, similar options in the area. Calzones are pretty good though.

Strawberry shortcake is the best cake I’ve ever had in my life. I would like to attempt to see how long I could live on nothing else.

The pizza here was tastier than it looked like it would be. Nice and crispy. However, the calzone we ordered – chicken parm – was pretty sucky/gross. Would vey much advice against ordering that. Also there was not enough seating in the restaurant so we had to eat picnic-style out in the car.

Piro’s and their staff need to learn about ServeSafe. Safe food handling is extremely important and after my visit to Piro’s today, I will not be returning. Let me begin by saying that the bakery items and the various breads are very good. My issue is not with the products themselves, but with the manner in which they are handled. Piro’s needs to train their staff on customer service. Customers should not be made to wait while the staff chats and jokes with each other. This is a business and not the hallway at the high school although it did look that way today. Your customers are your lifeline and they are the ONLY reason you are in business. Treat them that way! The young lady who waited on me today had that«I wish I was anywhere but here» look on her face and her attitude and language reflected that sentiment. She handled the Italian cookies I asked for and the two pieces of pastry with her bare hands which is disgusting. I refused both from her. I also watched another clerk remove some sort of cream puff pastry from the case barehanded and them lick(yes… lick!) the cream that had touched her hand as a way of cleaning herself. I told the customer who ordered this pastry and she also refused it. I watched clerks handle cash and then wait on the next customer(and touch their items!) without washing their hands or wearing food safety gloves. When I paid for my items, the clerk removed a pen from her hair for me to sign the credit card receipt. This was a disgusting display and a total lack of understanding and implementation of food safety standards. I can’t believe all of the clerks were ignorant of food safety and I hold the owners/management of Piro’s directly responsible. How have you people stayed in business? I will never visit this place again.

If I am in the area, I must stop here for their ricotta cheese cannoli. They fill them to order. The ricotta cheese filling is perfectly sweetened, not too much so. You can order vanilla or chocolate pudding filled, but I can’t not order the cheese filling with slivered almonds and as light dusting of powdered sugar. Would be nice if they had a larger selection. I love a chocolate mousse filled cannoli. The cases are filled with fresh breads, cookies, cakes, pies, and other awesome looking desserts, many of which are Italian as you would expect. Some day I must get their fresh strawberry cake before my doctor puts me on a more restrictive diet soon. I was salivating looking at another customer purchase one. Three tiers of white cake, with sliced strawberries and whipped cream between each layer and on top. Next time. I’ve read some negative comments about the service. But I have always found the girls behind the counter to be pleasant and extremely helpful. If you’re in the area, stop in.

OK, so just having moved to Methuen from San Diego, I was ready for some real authentic American-Italian desserts. Now, I can’t go into Boston to Mike’s every time I want something yummy, so we went to my wife’s family’s fav Methen place… Piro’s. They’ve got a pizza joint that servers Tripoli pizza and calzones next door to the bakery as well so you can get a meal plus dessert! They have a fanstastic selection of yummy goodies out on display and they make cakes to order. We opted for 18 cannolis(6 vanilla, 6 chocolate and 6 ricotta). The ricotta were the crowd fav and went first. I personally got a lobster tail as well. The lobster tails at Piro’s aren’t the huge ones that you get at Mike’s… they’re the perfect size for someone who loves lobster tails to enjoy all by themselves. There’s even enough to give someone a bite and not miss any if you’re so inclined. All in all, this is an excellent choice for Italian pastries in the Methuen area!

Awesomely delicious doesn’t even begin to describe the treasures in Piro’s display cases. Seriously, if you grew up eating rum cake and amaretto cookies like I did, you have to stop at Piros. The young girls behind the counter are surprisingly knowledgeable and friendly. The baked goods from the cookies to the bread are divine.

Fantastic place for Italian desserts and breads. The bread«sticks» are fresh and amazing. Less than $ 2 for a half stick which is fantastic. I have had their cakes too and they are outstanding.

We stopped in here to have a slice of Sicilian pizza. While waiting for our slices(even though we called ahead), I stopped into the bakery next door and picked up some biscotti and some chocolate pastries(the are round and look like breasts, but sadly can NOT remember the name — damn, I am getting old). I got the biscotti without sesame seeds and I enjoyed the sweetness with my cup of tea at home. The sauce on the pizza is sweet but it worked well and the crispy of the crust snapped just right. NB: Frannie has since informed me that the chocolate pastery in question is called pasticiotti.
