We stopped in Yesterday’s for a late lunch with our kids. Very generous portions, excellent food. It was our servers first day so she didn’t have any«suggestions for us» but we lived everything we ordered. Definitely worth a stop!

When we walked in I got the feeling that everyone knew I was from out of town. Other then that we had a nice time. Food is good and cheap.

Had lunch with my wife. I had BBQ chicken platter. Good smoked chicken and green beans just like Moms. Wife had BBQ chicken sandwich. With an apple pie desert and tip bill came to $ 22.

Passed through on the way from Chicago to Orlando, and had a very good meal! Fed our family of 5 for $ 30…but we didn’t have the fried cherry pie! Next time. Judging from the delicious quality of the pulled pork we had I bet it would have been outstanding. Highly recommend.

We visited Metropolis while traveling southern Illinois and were delighted with a quick lunch here. We pulled in because the parking lot was full. The Wednesday lunch special was buy one get one free pulled pork sandwich. The pork was well-seasoned and not fatty — very good without sauce. Both spicy and sweet sauces we tried were very good, but a little thin. We also had potato casserole and fried corn nuggets. Really liked the potato casserole. And finally, we tried a fried cherry pie. It was good, but did not seem home made. One critique: the kitchen could use a better ventilation system. The restaurant was a little smoky which irritated my eyes a bit. Overall, this was much better than we expected to find in a small town. It’s home cooking and fried food, but well done with care. I appreciate a place that knows what it is and does it well; that’s what we experienced here. And even though every table was full at lunch, we were in and out in an hour. Total bill for 2 at lunch including sharing dessert — $ 9.72 + tip.
