That’s it. I’ve had enough of this place. I’m a fairly regular customer of both bagel places downtown, usually choosing based on which direction I’m headed. My experiences at Bagels 4U are usually pretty much the same. I’m very friendly and patient with the staff, none of whom have a strong grasp on the English language. This wouldn’t bother me one bit if they were better trained, more understanding of my order and FASTER. This morning, I was the only customer there. I ordered an everything bagel, cream cheese, sliced lox, onion and tomato. A very standard product for any bagel place. Simple. I watched as a worker fumbled her way through this sandwich for 20 minutes. It had to have been her first day, perhaps her first time making a bagel sandwich. Through the glass case, I viewed this process in disbelief, knowing I’d eventually be paying over $ 10 for the most horribly-made bagel sandwich ever. Finally, after begrudgingly adding a coffee to my order, I handed the worker my debit card. The machine itself then took another 5 minutes to process the payment, as someone there was apparently on the phone. At this point, I was looking for the hidden cameras. There were none. This was real. It’s gonna be a while before I go back. They don’t deserve my business. 20 – 25 minutes for a coffee, Snapple and a terrible lox/bagel totaling $ 14. Avoid. Amateur hour.

Always excellent food– and friendly, fast service. Only place I go when I’m in the market for a great bagel. Delicious veggie cream cheese. Cream cheese and lox also tasty. My favorite bagel is the Everything bagel(or whole wheat Everything). Scrumptious with butter! Yum! Sesame and plain bagels are also very good. Bagels are always FRESH! Great coffee as well. Check them out!

I love this place. Great convenient spot close to the train station. The service is consistently good and I come here often. The counter staff is very sweet and friendly, always very accommodating. And the bagels are phenomenal. As a NYC transplant, I rank Bagels4U right up there with the best of them. Large, doughy inside, crispy outside, slightly sourdough taste — perfect! Nice selection and great choice of cream cheese flavored as well. Prices are the only thing that remind me this isn’t a New York bagel shop. Very reasonable!

Bagels are ok. Service is pretty unfriendly. They are very doughy. Almost if they aren’t baked for long enough. Been here enough times to say this is a consistent occurrence. I have been here many times, but from this point on, my review will be about my most recent visit. I entered and automatically noticed how dirty the place was. It looked as if somebody THOUGHT of cleaning the place, spaced out, and forgot to clean every corner in the resturaunt. The service was very rude. Not only was she wise when I asked for a pork roll on a everything bagel, she wouldn’t understand that I did not want egg… My sandwich order was simple. Everything bagel, pork roll, cheese… That’s it, but I guess Bagels4u doesn’t comply with people who don’t like egg. My sandwich had egg even after I told them no egg. Not only was the sandwich wrong, it was disgusting. Chewy bagel, overly thick slices of pork roll, barely any cheese, and an egg that i did not ask for… Go down to bagel pantry about 1 – 2 miles down the road. I’ll see you there from now on.

This place is gross!!! Anyone who gives this place a good review should be banned from Unilocal! It’s hot, dirty, and disgusting inside this place! Bagels are hard and cream cheeses are sitting inside a hot display case spoiling! I’m appalled by the positive reviews of this place! Ugh! The Bagel Pantry is the place to get bagels in Metuchen. This is a well known fact. Any other opinions are delusional.

Bagels are great. Can’t say the best in the area because I have only tried a few places. Of the ones I have tried, I like these the most. Crispy outside and nice chewy inside. Some bagels around here seem to be raw inside still. Here’s the problem though: service is NOT good. Can’t take an order and get it right. Also, depending on who you get at the register, it could take a VERY long time. I’m usually here before getting on the train. Don’t have a lot of time to deal with messed up orders or cashiers with no sense of urgency. Please train staff better because your product is really good.

I found Metuchen Bagels 4U a few years ago. They have very good bagels and great coffee. The reason I always go there is to get the black and white cookies and the lemon cookies(the smaller ones w the smiley faces on them). These cookies are the best I’ve ever had and it is worth making a special trip for them. I’ve never had any of the deli items but they have tons to choose from. Parking isn’t always easy, but if you’re just running in and out you can go ahead and park in the train station across the street. I’ve done that quite a few times and never gotten a ticket but it’s up to you if you want to risk it or not. Bagels 4U will always be my first stop for delicious cookies, bagels and fresh coffee.

The owners have a terrible attitude. Maybe they should just convert the business to a bagel factory and deliver to others who know how to treat their customers.

I have been here about 4 or 5 time since i moved to the area and the bagels are great and always fresh . $ 9.20 isnt bad for 13 bagels of your choice!

I am an avid bagel lover and bagel blogger trying to find the best bagel in central New Jersey. State Senator Barbara Buono recommended Bagels 4 U to me when we met at a campaign event. I was unimpressed by the bagels. First of all, the place wasn’t that clean. The people taking orders were not friendly and looked miserable! The bagels were small and weren’t all that spectacular. The cream cheese was very great — recommend the raspberry and raisin walnut. For a more detailed review of the establishment, check out my post on Bagel Café on my blog:

Bagels 4 U When it first opened it was the hottest thing in town. After some time they have changed a bit. Coffee is very hot, too hot if you ask me. To a point to where it is burnt. Bagels were bigger and now they have made them smaller. They have a large verity of bagels but still not worth it if they make them smaller. Bench seating(cafeteria style) which is not very comfy. Street parking and the décor not being very inviting I would ask that you pass on this one. Remember to always drink reasonably Crazy Cubano Out.

When my mom and I are both in town, we make sure to hit up this joint for breakfast. Bagels are made on-premise and on an on-going basis — during the weekend mornings, at least — so you’re more than likely eating a fresh-from-the-oven bagel. Downside is that staff isn’t very communicative so their quietness can be mistaken as them not understanding my order and possibly even snobbery. The other is, and I think this goes for every other bagel place, their price list isn’t clear. But overall, I like this place and, even after trying other bagel joints in NJ and NY, I always return here.

Me and my BF came in here this morning. We were both very pleased with our bagel sandwiches despite the fact that the lady didn’t hear our order well. They need to have more employees that speak and understand english better. The sandwiches are a bit pricey for bagels but well worth it.

Awww, Bagels? –4-me? You shouldn’t have. No, really, you shouldn’t have. I like that the name of the store is easy to text. Whr RU??? Bagels 4U, Metuch. LOL C U soon :)* (That last emoticon is a man with a snaggletooth, which means«I am trash») It’s a 14-location New Jersey bagel chain that sells hand-rolled bagels with no preservatives. I believe they cook all the bagels in the store, which is nice. They taste pretty good, but are rather expensive. An everything bagel with lox spread is about $ 5! It’s good-ass, though. The cranberry bagel looks like a maxi pad. I’m just saying! In all, a decent place to sink your snaggle into a tasty torus.
