Chelsea was amazing and the salon is great! She took my fried hair and made it look healthy again. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the issue that I had finding the salon. There is no real sign out front and it doesn’t look like a salon. I drove by it twice and had to get my daughter on the phone while walking to find it! Owners: TAKE NOTE! YOU NEED A SIGN!

Consistently excellent cuts & blow-​outs. Even more, Chelsea is very knowledgable about cutting & styling curly, thick hair– which is refreshing b/​c I’ve been to at least 25 different salons in my lifetime, and up until discovering Buddha’s Loft, the only place that could actually embrace my curls in a skillful way was a specific curly hair salon in NYC. So glad I don’t have to travel to NYC for a haircut now!

The atmosphere is extremely welcoming. I walked in and was instantly greeted by smiles. I’m not sure who washed my hair (I forgot her name), but she was so sweet.
Chelsea was my hairstylist, and let me tell you that the reviews don’t lie! I feel like she was a little awkward around me (since I’m EXTREMELY awkward), but she answered all of my annoying questions one by one. She also did a fabulous job on my hair! I’m coming back next week for a balayage, so we’ll see how that goes!

I would stay away! Extremely unprofessional and rude. Generally colorists do whatever they can to make their client’s happy and have the utmost satisfaction but not here. Don’t expect full disclosure from your stylist about what your hair will look like after and expect to pay full price regardless of how satisfied you are with the service.
God forbid you call them to complain — you will get yelled at and told it’s not the colorists fault! Hah. Find a better place where they actually value their clients. I know I won’t be going back here and will tell all my friends the same!

Just got a haircut and color from Rebecca. The color and cut was very nice and was exactly what I asked for. The best part is that I have very thick wavy hair and she was able to color, cut and blow dry in under two hours. My last salon would usually take three or more hours to do the same work she just did. Will definitely be back!

The salon is a hidden gem on Main Street in Metuchen. When you enter the salon, it’s magical, zen like atmosphere with trinkets and accessories adorned and the friendly owners greeting you. They offer variety of hair and nail services. I recently got my hair done (balayage and cut) and it came out great! I LOVE my new hair style. Chelsea did an amazing job. I highly recommend this salon.

My wedding was Sept 13. I paid $ 125 just for a hair trial from Jessica Gere who said she would be available on the day of my wedding and seemed really excited to work with me. It was a nice updo which I took down immediately. On September 8^th, she TEXTED me saying she wouldn’t be available for my date due to a previous engagement after I already paid for a trial and my wedding was less then one week away! Did she not check this before I paid her $ 125? I tried calling, texting, and leaving voicemails with no response. This is highly unprofessional and a very big deal to be left with no hair stylist without even a verbal confirmation or apology. I hope and that she received whatever satisfaction she was seeking from taking my money and not delivering on her promised product.

I’ll start with the positives: (1) Very inviting atmosphere — nice décor and comfy waiting area. (2) The owner and/​or manager was very friendly and accommodating. (3) The young woman who washed hair was also very lovely.
Now to the negatives: The woman we were paired with sat on her phone for a solid 5 minutes while my daughter stood near her station with wet hair. I would have said something had I realized she was the stylist — I assumed she couldn’t have been given she let us stand there like that. Once the manager recognized what happened she apologized and tried to make up for it. I can’t say it started off on the right foot but I just shook it off and went on with it given we all zombie out from time to time.
I showed her a picture of the last hair cut my daughter had that was quite good and asked her to replicate it. She not only cut off *way* too much, but it was so choppy and uneven that I was afraid to have her try to fix it. Most of the time I’d let a bad cut go (she’s young and doesn’t care) but it was so bad that we ended up finding an Aveda salon to seek out a master stylist given she had so little hair left to work with. The stylist told me that the woman from Buddha’s loft cut her hair at completely the wrong angle which is why it looked like someone untrained did it.
I had such high hopes given the lovely location but was really unhappy with the end result. Worst cut she ever had by far and cost quite a bit to get it fixed.

I’ve been here a few times already for an eyebrow wax while my spouse would get a men’s cut. I didn’t like the salon I was going to, and decided to give Buddha’s Loft a try for my hair. I went to Chelsea, who talked to me about what I didn’t like about my last hair cut/​highlight and about what I wanted with this cut/​highlight. She did a beautiful job, the highlights (Bialage) look great and blended in beautifully with my natural hair and the cut was superb. I would recommend this salon to anyone! They also do makeup and nails, so this salon could be your one stop shop! (Also, my spouse’s hair always looks great).

Great experience! Awesome way to start my birthday, came to see Chelsea who worked her magic on my difficult dyed jet black hair to create the balyange that I so wanted. She was amazing!!!

Very trendy salon in the heart of Metuchen. I have only come to this salon once, after following our hairdresser from another hair salon, but it was a wonderful experience. Jess Gere, hair stylist, has been doing my daughter’s hair for years. My daughter has gotten everything from ombré years ago to many different cuts and hair styles for events. Raquel who did my daughter’s makeup was phenomenal as well!

Jess G is a hair goddess! I tend to go from brown to red to blonde all in one year and I usually have issues going blonde, I always need to tone it. Jess highlighted my hair recently and I didn’t need a toner for the first time ever and it the best part is there was zero damage! She’s amazing! I will definitely be coming back. It also helps that the salon is super clean and nice looking and the other girls seem really awesome as well.

First off I have to say this place is a little piece of heaven! You walk in and the atmosphere is great, you get greeted with smiles at the door!
I always had issues with hair dressers, not getting my color right, cutting more then I wanted off of my hair but when I found Ms. Jess Gere… My life was changed for the better!!! I have been with her for a few years now and I swear she the the HAIR GODDESS!!! From the moment I sat in her chair, she knew exactly what I wanted, showed her pictures of inspiration, and from that point she talked me though the whole process of what she was going to do, what colors she would use etc. She is seriously the greatest! Got my color exactly like I wanted it, the cut and even the perfect blow out.
I recommend her to all my friends and family and anyone I met! You can always expect only the bets when you come to Buddahs! Can’t wait to see what Jess does next with my hair!!!

Buddha’s Loft was a great experience for my first time at the salon! My stylist Jessica was knowledgeable, caring, and transformed my hair into exactly what I wanted and needed! 4 days later and I am still getting compliments on my color and cut! I don’t exactly know what I want with my hair sometimes, I know I just want a change and she honestly rocked the house with her own ideas and vision! The rest of the staff that day were heartwarming and welcoming. The ambiance of the salon is relaxing and calming, not hectic which was great to just let go and relax while getting pampered! The location was nice and easy for me being I live close by! I would recommend Buddha’s Loft and Jessica to anyone and already have! Absolutely love it!

I’m a bridesmaid in a destination wedding coming up in a few short weeks, and the bridal party and I wanted so badly to get our hair Jamaica-​ready! I brought the party-​of-​five to Buddah’s Loft, since I already go there regularly for my haircuts (this visit would also be my FIRST professional color ever, so I was quite nervous).
Their staff are always so incredibly welcoming! Our party’s hair stylists for the day — Chelsea and Raquel — were diligent, extremely knowledgeable, and professional. ALL of us fell in love with our new hair colors and cuts, and each one of the ladies said how they’d be back for all their future hair needs.
I cannot thank the staff of Buddah’s Loft enough for showing us a fun and enjoyable afternoon… I couldn’t think of a better place to take our business! We’ll ALL definitely be back!

As a recent transplant to New Jersey with head full of curls, I’ve been apprehensive about finding a good stylist who knows how to cut curly hair. My fiancé and I noticed this salon was new and decided to check it out one snowy winter Sunday. The salon was open and the owners immediately greeted us and welcomed us in, despite all the snow we would drag onto their floors with our boots. I took notice of how nice and clean the salon is and the relaxing yet modern décor. The owners were very nice and personally addressed my concern with finding the right stylist for curly hair by recommending Chelsea, a stylist they have there who they felt confident would cut my hair well. Chelsea cut my hair perfectly! She knew exactly what I wanted and was conservative about the length since I was going shorter. Chelsea also has a great personality, very nice, and fun to talk to. I highly recommend Buddhas’s Loft!
