Hole in the wall place behind the Metuchen Train Station. The restaurant is not very big but intimate. The staff was nice(but our waitress forgot about a couple of my special requests). Food was tasty and the quality seems pretty good; they use white meat for their chicken dishes. We had the papaya salad, cashew beef, sweet and sour chicken, green chicken curry, pad thai w shrimp, pad see ew w chicken, pad woo sen w beef. Everything was very good. We’ve been to many Thai restaurants in LA and Orange County and the Thai Garden is pretty good in comparison! The only down side is the parking… There is very limited parking on the street and they just opened the new parking structure across the street and for two hours, it’s $ 3!

My boyfriend really wanted to try this place but my hesitation overcame my desire since the exterior of the place looked rather shady. It is a small building(really small) and inside had a limited number of seats. I can imagine a crowded day would result in a very long wait line. That was like a month ago, and I took a chance a few weeks after to try… and I was pleasantly surprised. We have been back twice so far. While the décor and atmosphere was sub-par(definitely a hole-in-the-wall), the food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Pad Thai and I got the Pad See Ew. It was incredibly delicious. Portion size was great as well(we went for the lunch special one day and it was enough to fill me up). We also got the Thai iced tea and while I am not a big fan, I loved how they made it. It was less bitter, a tad bit milkier and sweeter. I would definitely revisit and the Groupon deals they offer makes it more than affordable.

When we drove up to the restaurant we didn’t know what to expect– it looked like a small shack and not the type of place you’d want to eat at. We were surprised to see the restaurant was almost full. We ordered pad Kee Mao pad Thai and a red curry. The service was a little slow but the waitress was very friendly and the food and portions were good. The only reason for four stars was the lack of parking. Overall a good experience and we’d come back.

I came here on a Friday night with my parents and a groupon and was pleasantly surprised! Thai Garden is tucked all the way into a corner a turn off Main St. The interior is very small but pretty and the flowers on each table are real! The wait staff was friendly and fairly attentive. To start, the spring rolls and golden tofu were yummy, but pretty pricey for the portion. The curries were kind of just watery and not very tasty. The stir fries were very good! Lots of veggies, good sauce, and a big portion. Overall, nothing amazing but better than average! I would return. Update: Came here again and it pains me to do it, but I have to take off 1 star. Service was very slow – 15 mins after we had ordered, they came to tell us one of the appetizers was unavailable. Then they brought us the wrong type of dumplings but we were so hungry we just ate them anyway. I did try the chicken satay and chicken wings which were very good. But the stir fry with beef was not great. Beef was very chewy. I would stick to just veggies or tofu. Feeling less likely to come back here :(.

We got 3 different kinds of Pad Thai; shrimp, tofu and chicken. I liked the tofu; however, the food tasted bland to me. It needed more sauce and spices. The price was good, and the food was plentiful. The statf were courteous, and my family members liked it.

I finally found this place recently on my third try. You have to walk all the way down the block to even see the restaurant as its tucked away in a little corner. The vegetable fried rice I had was way too salty, but the chicken pad thai I took to go was good. Service was great. The waitress was very pleasant, even checking to see if my dish needed anything added to it.

Hole in the wall, but the food is definitely pretty good — but not great. The service is completely lacking though. They are nice and courteous but fall short on timeliness.

It’s a perfect place for great Thai food. Their lunch special were cheap compared to any other thai places good spot for quick lunch. I love noodles and curry dishes and don’t forget to end your course with their dessert dish called Sticky rice and mango together with thai Ice tea or thai ice coffee yum…

My hubby and I went there yesterday after purchasing a Groupon. It was definitely out of the way for us about 25 minutes away. Once you get there it’s tucked away at the end of the block. Since I checked out some reviews on Unilocal before going I knew we had to arrive when it opens. When we first arrived there was only one other couple, within 30 minutes the restaurant was filled to capacity with only one very pleasant waitress bouncing between tables. I order the Pad See Ewe with chicken and hubby order the Drunken noodle with beef. We ended up exchanging plates. I really enjoyed the Drunken noodle. The all glass of Thai Ice tea was so sweet and delicious. I can’t imagine going back there unless I’m in the neighborhood but it was a pleasant surprise.

Turns out this is NOT the same owners we enjoyed years ago when it was called Radhanna’s, we walked in and was greeted by a friendly young man. He turned out to be our waiter also. For starters we order chicken Satay, and our lunch combos came with salad, spring roll or soup. So we got spring rolls & salad, in my opinion the spring roll would have tasted better with its accompaniment of plum sauce had it not been over fried. My salad was as expected some iceberg lettuce, tomatoe, & carrots topped with a lil peanut sauce. Now I tried the peanut sauce from our chk satay and wasn’t impressed it was thin and the chicken was a bit fatty and undercooked for my liking but my husband enjoyed its flavor, more of a seasoned breast of chicken. We both ordered Thai Iced Tea as its called here, and they were huge! And very good that you should be careful not to over indulge in such a large drink. We ordered a special Pumpkin red Curry and added chicken too it & Thai basal or Pad ka Praw, with beef. The curry was excellent good sized chicken portions and onions, carrots, pumpkin pieces all tenderly cooked.

I came here with a coworker for lunch after a work conference in Edison. He had found Thai Garden online and thought that it looked good. Since he is part Thai, I took his recommendation without first Unilocaling(rookie move). This place is the epitome of a hole in the wall. At the end of a dead end, you’d almost think that you missed the place or that the place closed down and the website hadn’t been updated. Inside, once we found the place and figured out it wasn’t closed down, the restaurant was packed, which I took as a good sign. Unfortunately, there was one waitress working and bus-ing who was trying her hardest, but in a busy restaurant, it just was not enough. We were in the restaurant for an hour and a half, most of that time just waiting. The food is delicious — I had veggies, brown rice, and red curry, while my coworker chose green curry with chicken and rice. The food alone would have made this a higher rating, but this does not seem to be a place to go if you’re in any kind of a hurry.

We usually get take out but occasionally eat in. Small little place tucked away from Main Street. The wait staff is very polite and attentive and the food has never disappointed. I cool little local hidden place with solid food and great service. The spice levels are always consistent and overall very tasty food. Compared the pad Thai from the new place on main and it doesn’t measure up.

Heard this place was under new ownership so decided to give this place a second chance one Friday evening since we weren’t big fans of the previous one. Had some issues ordering online as we couldn’t customize or select the spice levels per item but with multiple attempts we placed our order online and followed up by phone as an extra measure to confirm the spice level and request the tofu in our penang curry be fried and not steemed. Gentleman who answered was very nice and sounded authentically Thai with his heavy accent compared to the previous management, so needless to say we had our hopes up that the food would be equally authentic in taste. Upon pick up the cashier(same person as who answered) genuinely mistook the total as he forgot that we ordered online(10% discount) and finally adjusted the receipt after we had pointed it out. The item ordered: Papaya Salad was on point. A little kick with the sweetness and tart that a papaya salad should have. Under the actual papaya salad was a heaping bed of lettuce which I can’t say is common from my experience. Looking beyond that we tasted the Penang Curry with a side of brown rice(included). Spice level was on point. We went with a 7 which was a true 7 and most certainly came with a kick but not over the top where flavors may become masked. The disappoint in this dish is why the 2 star rating. Can’t say I’ve ever seen Penang curry so watery and oily. It looked as if the coconut milk was left out entirely. The portion of the brown rice nor the curry itself was worthy of the $ 12.00 in my opinion and the Tofu was not fried as requested. Strangely the Penang curry is only available in veg OR tofu for vegetarians whereas many other Thai places automatically make their dish with heaping portions of both. In this case we ordered the tofu version and were lucky enough to find a few slivers of carrots and 2 or 3 pieces of broccoli and 2 or 3 slivers of string beans in spite of the gentleman’s description via phone. Between the portion sizes(which are only good for one person) and the quality… unfortunately this place walks away with a 2 star in my book. I’d so wish this place was a true hidden gem in Metuchen and a grandma really ran this kitchen as she apparently did once upon a time. but regretfully not this time.

Little peeved that my beef Pad Ped only had like, 5 pieces of meat in it. Granted it was a lunch special, but I still feel like I should have gotten more beef. Very disappointing. I’ll try it again for sure, especially since I loved this spot when it was called Prik-Prow. The normally very attentive waitress seemed distracted and forgot to bring out my soup that was included with my lunch. I’m thinking it was an off day here?

I came here for lunch and I was satisfied! I made all my orders then I looked up on the wipe board and they had roti as an option and of course I went and ordered that, it was delicious! My favorite thing there. Their thai iced tea is funky though, not my style, very bitter. I enjoyed the coconut curry but not enough chicken in the tom yum soup. It’s pretty cheap for lunch which was nice but there were a good amount of people there. Pad See Ew was average, very oily but my boyfriend seemed to enjoy it.

The food taste was okay and they even mess up the pick order. On specially asking [like 2 – 3 times] that make the order with tofu they gave just gave the veg in the order. Quantity is also less compared to price. Its just good enough for one person. It should have been more.

How you been, peanuts? Situated one street over from the«Main Street», at the end of a narrow road, between a train track and an auto shop, across from a municipal lot, the location would make a hipster quake in excitement. The food isn’t that good, so those into«divey» places can have it. Anyone that gives this over 3 stars works here. The meats aren’t that good, unless you like cardboard chicken and chewy calamari. The sauces and spices and good, as are the vegetables. Water is OK for Jersey water. Our waitress was very nice. Protip: Mama noodles is ramen.

So I’m sitting here at Thai garden now and I’m seriously surprised that it only has 3 stars. This is the quintessential hole-in-the-wall authentic Thai restaurant. The owner is also the only waitress. She is so sweet and kind and attentive. The space is cozy and has great natural lighting. This is a good place to go for business lunches, dates, and order out. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large.
