The Brown Stone

First time visit last night with some friends for dinner and a birthday celebration. The service by Dawn was exceptional, Robert was great as well. They took good care of us. Food was delicious, I highly recommend the Penne ala Vodka, it was one of the best we’ve ever had. The Calamari was delicious. They had a DJ that played great music but for some reason the joint was empty. Will definitely return when they open the outdoor patio in the spring.

I have been going to the Brownstone for several months now. They have had a change in management and staff. I have to say what an improvement. The staff is attentive and friendly. The food has been brought to a better style.
The staff has been so friendly with everyone that walks in it is unbelievable.
Love this place.

The drinks are way expensive. The food is average. The service is terrible. The ambience is fine and the hidden patio is a pleasant surprise. But not enough to save it from a 1 star rating. I’m never headed to this place again. There are a few establishments close by that are better off going to.

I met a few people here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. The weather was nice, so we took advantage of the beautiful patio seating at The Brown Stone.
From 11 AM until 3 PM, Monday through Friday, The Brown Stone has spectacular lunch specials. For just under $ 8 you can select two items from their menu of soup, salad, and sandwiches. The Brown Stone has a lunch punch card, and Mondays are double punch. The portions are hearty and just one of the two could serve as a good sized lunch.
I opted for the Caesar salad and the Italian wrap. The Caesar salad was delicious, finely cut romaine lettuce with croutons and cheese shavings. As for the wrap– well I’m not sure how that was because instead the waitress brought me a Turkey Club. Normally I would ask for the meal to be corrected, but at this point in the meal it was clear that the waitress was unable to correctly do her job and it was just easier to eat the turkey club.
The Turkey Club was good and came with a side of fries, you have the option to exchenge these for fresh veggies– just ask.
In addition to my messed up order, other orders were brought out incorrectly and all plates were served at different times.
The food and atmosphere was great, the service… well that was just bad.

Just a great place, full of wood tables, gigantic booths, TV’s everywhere, huge bar, and the food was fantastic! A lot of outdoor seating with umbrellas and greenery. I will make this my «must stop» when back in this area. Indoor fly brought it down from 5 stars!

I just held a birthday party here and the service was awesome as well as the food. Our waitress Nicole was amazing made sure we had and needed everything.
The food, oh the food… I highly recommend this place. I’ll be back for sure

TERRIBLE SERVICE! No joke, I’m a waitress and I totally understand the struggle but even I have to take the time out of my day to give this place a shittttt review. When I walked in I thought it was gorgeous the way their outdoor seating was set up. Loved it at first sight but of course it didn’t take long before I couldn’t stand it.
When first seated we had no waitress greet us for a full 20 minutes. Finally this woman comes and takes our drink order when she realizes our menus are closed up on the corner of the table. Doesn’t even give us a chance to order our food. Comes back with the drinks we give her an appetizer and entrée order. The appetizer was the «bone in wings» which I will admit were SO good and that’s the only thing that deserves this whole 1 star rating.
Takes literally 15 minutes for our drinks. 20 minutes for our appetizer. Finally 20 minutes later we get our food. food was okay. finally ask for the check and wait ANOTHER 20 minutes. finally I can’t take it anymore and I go to the bar and beg them to let me close the check because I just want to leave!
Total time there and we got there at 6:30 pm
Literally almost 2 hours there! They ignore you. Don’t check on you. Overall gorgeous atmosphere but terrible service makes the experience horrible.

The Brownstone was excellent! Not only was the outdoor patio perfect to have a few drinks on this nice day but the service was wonderful! The bartenders, servers, and manager treated us like family and the New Ownership really shined through this place. Love the Brownstone, coming next week for happy hour 4 – 7!

The back yard is great in the summer, food is always on point and owners and management very accommodating busy at weekends with Dj crowd, valet parking is good, parking is a problem otherwise, try their wings and gyro, you can smoke a cigar outside

Not sure why I see so many BAD reviews but. .. this past Friday night I went here for the first time and i had a GREAT TIME! I reaaalllly enjoyed myself. The wings were great! Environment was great! People were friendly. Staff was attentive. The music and DJ were awesome too! The (NEW) waitress forgot to put our 2^nd order in, however when I reminded her, she apologized profusely and we ended up getting it for FREE, plus a free dessert. There was FREE valet parking. A huge outside patio with an outside bar. .. . I will definitely go again.

Went here a few weeks ago and the food and service was horrible. Ordered what should have been a safe bet, a bacon cheese burger med well. Came out raw, blood oozing threw the bun. Not for me, send it back and they bring me another burger. This one is like a hockey puck. Ate it because I wasn’t going to send back another meal. Waitress kept forgetting orders, they ran out of menus when we got there. Only thing pleasant about the place was the people we were with. I wouldn’t recommend the place at all.

This place really has a problem. The female bartender who was working around 6:30 on 2÷7÷15 really needs to get a new position there or just not work with customers. She was clearly unhappy and didn’t want to be there. Not our problem, we had just left work after an 10 hour day and were ready to relax and have a nice night out. This proved to be imposable at the Brownstone. We ended up going to Novita in downtown Metuchen. Don’t waste your time with unhappy staff and marginal service.

The Cheese burger and chicken parm sliders are good. The outdoor patio is a great feature. The food is basically sports bar level, but still good.

Terrible experience. Obnoxious meathead bartender that was slamming the beer chiller doors every 10 minutes, yelling and blowing a whistle. Ridiculous. There were 10 ppl in the bar. #really. I will never return. The music was good and that was it. I can see why the place was empty.

Currently sitting on the patio listening to the soothing sounds of the waterfall. I ordered the steak quesilidillas, the calamari and the mussels in a white champagne sauce. All of the food was delicious and our waitress Lisa was very friendly and sweet. The ambience is truly relaxing and their Mai Tais are hitting the spot. I tried the flirtinis as well and it was a little bitter for my liking but I am by no means a drinker so take that for a grain of salt. Definetly worth a visit on a nice sunny day. Will return with my little one as there are kids having a blast kicking around a soccer ball on their backyard field while the World Cup is playing by the bar.

This place is good but they have one MAJOR problem. MANDATORY VALET SERVICE. I don’t need some 17 year old kid driving my expensive car in a parking lot that is smaller than the restaurant itself. And I certainly don’t want him driving my car down RT 27 to park it in some sketchy lot that the restaurant doesn’t even own. Valet service is supposed to be an optional convenience service but when I parked my own car in their lot I got accosted by this little, young, angry valet boy telling me I cannot park my own car and he must park it. I refused being as though my car was already parked at this point. I went inside and spoke the manger about this and she was nice. Offered free drinks and apologized and I think she even went out and consulted the valet about how rude and disrespectful he was to me.
Problem is I went back a week later with my GF and we had the same issue. I like the place, good food, nice patio, nice place to dance with my girlfriend. But I just don’t want a kid driving my Audi. I worked as a valet in high school and I know how they treat people’s cars. Valet needs to be optional or I won’t be going back.

3.5 rounded to a 4.0 for an excellent server. I think this is a really good spot for lunch, especially if you work in the area and want to go out with a client or associate. Definitely an upgrade atmosphere-​wise over some of the other places in the area.
Three of us are and we each ordered sliders (chicken, burger, veggie). Food was good and there was plenty of it and the price was reasonable. As mentioned before, our server was excellent.
We also brought back a couple of salads for colleagues and they were happy too.

This place is Meh. I went yesterday to a happy hour thingy provided by work… aka free drinks. Upon arrival we all ordered drinks, when the waitress returned she had bills for some of us. She said some of the drinks were not included in the days package. Ummm thanks for telling that ahead of time?
Cabanas are nice but I doubt at night you could get any where near them.
Food sucks.
