Read the previous reviews but sadly, I cannot agree with them. Had such a craving for bake clams and was really hoping to satisfy my craving. Unfortunately the food was just average, nothing exciting or memorable like a meal should be. Obviously this just my opinion but give it a shot and make a determination of your own. I just know I won’t be a returning customer.

We were out of towners and I guess We didn’t do our prep work, because we didn’t realize this place was all set to serve wine but didn’t actually sell any. Luckily there is a conveniently located liquor store across the way to go buy your own and the restaurant was there to pop the cork and put it on ice for us. The food was average and the service was very slow. I’m all for not being rushed, but this place took it to new extremes.

Gracious professional service and delicious food. Very large portions so we didn’t make it to dessert. The owner was lovely, overseeing every aspect of his business, and the small space is cozy and inviting. They were also very accommodating with my daughter’s order, allowing us to modify her ravioli order. I’m looking forward to coming back when the weather is warm to enjoy the outdoor seating.

Love their food every time I dine there. Their 3 cheese ravioli is to die for. And tiramisu is one of the best I have ever had. I love the staff, they are very nice, explain every dish with a a lot of passion. Over all always a great experience.

I normally hate using a cliché turn of phrase such as «a hidden gem», but I would be remiss if I didn’t refer to Torino’s 2 as a hidden gem in Metuchen, NJ. However, my journey begins even before we arrive at our destination. Being of the male decent I naturally believed I knew exactly where Torino’s was located in Metuchen, sadly I was mistaken. No sooner had my co-pilot asked, «Do you know where you’re going?» that I had passed New Street in Metuchen thus missing the restaurant. Like a true gentleman I admitted I was wrong and was the butt of a joke for several minutes and deservedly so. I knew the only way I was going to be truly forgiven was with a delicious meal and perhaps dessert(especially since the restaurant didn’t offer roast chicken like she initially wanted). So if you’re keeping score I was already 2 in the hole. Within a few minutes of being relocated by her GPS we arrive at Torino’s Bistro. Directly across the street is a rotisserie chicken place that was closed. Once again I was saved because if that place were open I would’ve been in real trouble and never heard the end of it. The first impression I have of Torino’s is that it is quaint and lovely. The service is excellent and friendly. It is BYOB, which I had no idea in the beginning, but there is a liquor store where you may purchase libations just around the corner. It is easy access for all you wine’os and/or connoisseurs. It’s a trendy restaurant(and family friendly) so I wouldn’t exactly bring a six-pack in, but that’s just me. After a few moments we were greeted by our waiter who informed us of the many specials and appetizers which all sounded delectable. We opted out, but they still sounded amazing. I ordered the Veal Sorrentino and my lovely companion ordered the Chicken Francese. Everything on the menu looked delicious so it didn’t seem like anything would really be a bad choice. After enjoying wonderful conversation and joking about finding a hidden gem in Metuchen our food was served. The veal I ordered was nothing short of amazing. The meat was tender and paired well with the prosciutto, which added the perfect level of salt for an extremely well balanced dish. «More cheese?» the waiter queried, «Uh yes!» was our response. The vegetables were crisp and fresh, in a word my meal was divine. My companion enjoyed a Chicken Francese to which she commented needed«a little more salt». After a few dashes she seemed well pleased which I believe got me out of the hole for getting a little lost and not taking her to eat roast chicken. Once again food has saved my life! We followed up our meal with cappuccino and a chocolate mousse dessert over a chocolate espresso soaked cake. We were both extremely full so we decided to share it. This dessert was the perfect ending to an amazing night. I have to say I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious Italian meal. I will be visiting this locale again perhaps when it’s a little warmer so we can dine al fresco. The only thing better than the food was the company.

I was here with my wife and another couple. I had the lobster bisque. The flavor was good but it was very watered down. Wife Had the shrimp scampi which she said was OK. I had a chicken dish prepared in a white wine sauce. There was no wine flavor at all! The Bronzino special was totally underwhelming and the white clam sauce was just so-so. A $ 200 bill with all 4 of us leaving disappointed. We presented the waiter with a 10% off coupon. He came back and said he couldn’t use it because it was expired! That summed up the mediocre experience. Sorry, but there are much better restaurants and this is not a $ 25 entrée worthy restaurant.

My fiancé and I just tried this restaurant tonight as a possible place to host our rehearsal dinner, and I must say… wow! This place is excellent! We are upset we didn’t try it sooner. The ambiance is great very nicely set up and decorated with a romantic setting. The service was phenominal, all of the wait staff was so friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was also perfect. We highly recommend the asparagus special appetizer, the chicken parmesan, and the chocolate cake desert. Everything was so good. We will definitely be back, this is the best Italian place around and definitely competes with some of the best in Little Italy.

My boyfriend and I went for the first time last week and were very pleased with both the food and the service. We didn’t know it was BYOB, but luckily there is a liquor store a block away. We each had pasta dishes(goat cheese gnocchi and linguine with clam sauce) that were great and shared the buffalo mozzarella appetizer. The service was also excellent, which made the dining experience great. The atmosphere is romantic, but still a place you can bring kids to, but wouldn’t recommend due to the people who actually want to be there for the atmosphere. The tiramisu was the only thing that missed the mark — it was more cinnamon-y than coffee-flavored, which I’m not a fan of.

I called to order pickup just now. They’re supposed to be open. Not only did they not pick up the phone, but there’s no voicemail, either.

Wow. My wife and I got around to trying Torino 2 last night, and I can say that we were thoroughly impressed with every aspect of our meal. The service was fantastic. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Neither of us had ever eaten branzini, and we had a few questions — every one was patiently answered. The branzini by the way: amazing(as were the mashed potatoes and the spinach that accompanied it). We also had a mussels appetizer in a delicious sauce that we couldn’t resist sopping up with the fresh bread they served. We did not have room for desert, but they did bring out a complimentary biscotti that convinced us to stay for coffee. We were in no rush to leave the beautiful outdoor seating area on such a great night — and no one rushed us. We didn’t see the check until we asked for it — and that’s something I’m really starting to appreciate. I would definitely recommend having dinner here at any table — but if it’s a nice night, pick up a good bottle of wine and sit outside; Torino 2 will delight!

Visited here twice. This is a great place — excellent cooking with creative, fresh flavors; attentive service, and it’s BYOB. Outdoor seating is nice when the weather is good. I recommend the mozz. salad, lobster bisque & the scallops dish. Even the olive oil with basil dip that comes with the bread is delicious. The specials are usually quite good too.

There are a lot of good things to say about Torino II. I’ll do my best to keep it short. I’ve been to Torino’s probably 10 times over the course of several years, so I think my opinions can represent an average over the course of time. The food and service is always outstanding. Always. Whether it has been a carbonara, penne vodka dish, or a fish plate, the food is consistently fresh and expertly prepared. Not only have I never had a bead meal here, I’ve never had an average meal either. Every meal has been delicious, served hot, and well above average. They usually have a special on that is a nice change of pace, so even if you go here often, there are new things on the menu to try out if you want to diverge from the standards. The service is always first class. Your waiter may well be one of the owners, who will know the specials and his menu like the back of his hand, and be able to not only recite it to you, but make suggestions and be able to answer any questions you may have. Again, service is attentive without being overbearing. Every guest is treated like regular customer, with a handshake and a thank you upon leaving. The prices are also incredibly reasonable given the quality of the food and service. Prices are on par with many pizzeria restaurants, which is a joke because the food and service is so much better here. Other commenters have said that Torino II is comparable to many restaurants in NYC, which I would echo. As I said, this really is the best restaurant in Metuchen and it’s not close.

I went here last night and had a wonderful evening. The wait staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Everything with a smile! I had the mixed greens to start and it was delicious. Bread and pesto was great too. For entrée I had the chicken rollatini special and it was amazing!!! This was my first time here and I can’t wait to go back. My chocolate soufflé was sinfully good. They have decent size portions with enough for leftovers(which I couldn’t wait to eat today). The ambiance of this small place is great. Can’t wait to go back!

Food: excellent Service: excellent Ambience: good I have been here numerous times and always love the food. The beef ravioli is my favorite. The service is really great. This is a gem in NJ that can rival most places in NYC . Usually has an older crowd with families. Their décor could use an upgrade. I recommend this to anyone like poking for a good meal.
