After reading the wonderful reviews here on Unilocal,we decided to check out Daddy’s. I was not impressed. The rice in my red beans and rice was undercooked and crunchy. The fried chicken was overcooked. Overall, everything was lacking in flavor.

Tuesday night, friend recommends this place… Why not! Looks like a lounge, feels like a bar, and it’s got the chicken in the kitchen. BOOM! Fried white chicken with mashed potatoes with gravy and rice with red beans. BOOM again. I’m skinny, I couldn’t finish my plate but the 5 pounds gain were worth it! ! My stomach got BOOMED with fried deliciousness. It was good! Heineken was a good follow up. But the bill surprised me too. Other than the food, I’m looking forward or «Let’s Get Drunk» on Sundays. WOooHooO!

i finally got the guts to walk into daddys miami. look, dont get me wrong. this place looks a little scary from far but do not be fooled my friends, everyone in there was friendly including the other customers. i went straight for whats good. fried chicken, collard greens and mashed potatoes. that platter goes for $ 14 and it was very filling. the fried chicken was awesome. nice and crispy. the collard greens were sweetly delicious. i wish i would have gotten a bit more mashed potatoes cause that was good. bit chunky. nice gravy on top. $ 7 for the presidente. bill automatically includes tip so my grand total was $ 26 dollars. not precisely a cheap dinner but it was good dinner at a funky new place. will i be back? for sure.

It might be the onset of football season or the offset of my calorie restriction that’s recently prompted me to crave chicken wings at odd hours of the night. Since I know it’s not pregnancy tugging at my stomach’s heartstrings, I’m left to assume that a college frat boy has taken over my appetite and made me a full-blown fiend for fowl. So last night I set off into the dark night in search of said chicken wings. Along the desperate and dank strip of Washington Ave I shuffled, but all I came across was the hollows of pizza joints with fuzzy TVs and sweaty foreheaded men. Then, I spotted this halfway decorated, no frills soul bar. Daddy’s Miami. «Putting the ‘South’ in South Beach.» Always one for a clever turn of phrase, I knew I’d arrived at my wing house. Some sweetheart named Terri poured me a goblet of Chardonnay. There was enough wine in my glass to merit a goldfish. Then I asked her about the wings. As luck would have it, the chef/owner JUST prepared some special homemade flavors for Labor Day weekend and should I so desire, I’d be the 2nd person to try them. I’m all about it. A handful of minutes later, the 6 deliciously BBQ-sauce soaked wings descended upon my placemat. Tender, sweet, tangy, saucy, simply sublime. Then I met Jeremy, the chef/owner. I chatted him up about the wings and he admitted the flavors he offers are actually an off-the-menu specialty. «SOYOUMEANANYONECAN’T JUSTORDERTHESEHEAVENSENTBIRDPROPELLERS?!» Apparently, you’ll have to verbally ask for the wings. BBQ, Lemon pepper(MYFAVORITE… I stole one off his plate and fresh lemons were definitely harmed in the making of said delicacies), and 2 other flavors. There’s a lot to be desired from the ambiance, but if you’re looking for some home-cooked soul food, Daddy’s Miami is 100% authentic, fresh, and fly.
