If your in the area, stop in and ask for Wilson. He is their wine consultant and very knowledgeable and can help you find whatever it is your looking for. The time he takes with his clients is fantastic and really makes you feel like a v.i.p. customer. This type of personal one on one treatment is what separates Gulf Liquors from the rest.

Come on … Update your store info — 9:35 pm and it’s close — you guys suppose to be open until 10pm — not nice

What an incredible company! I just had some treats delivered to some friends that are getting married this weekend and Wilson took such great care of me. I HIGHLY recommend them and am very grateful for their incredible customer service!

Customer service is not very friendly. Also the check in and get 15 percent off apparently is not accepted according to clerks and manager. They claim they are no longer in service with Unilocal.Definitely didn’t like the way they went about telling me about it

This is the best liquor store in Miami. William is the man there. He is super friendly and more importantly, very knowledgeable about wine and spirits. Sommelier status knowledge. He can recommend anything at any price point. He will also remember you, what you like, and if you have a favorite, he’ll actually stock it for you knowing that you like it. His opinions are honest and unbiased meaning that he has the knowledge to recommend great wines/spirits at any price point, and if he thinks the $ 15 bottle is better than the $ 40 bottle, he’ll tell you. This kind of customer service is rare anywhere… Especially in Miami Beach. The other great thing about Gulf Liquor is that they have a wide selection of spirits that you can’t usually find in average liquor stores… And they do tastings regularly. Hands down, the best place to buy your booze on the beach, or anywhere.

This is my go-to liquor store in South Beach. They feature unique and hard to find wines and spirits, and their prices are the lowest in the area. They also have a tasting bar at the back of the store where Wilson will let you try new items and entertain you with some interesting stories. The only reason I can’t give them 5 stars is because the parking situation is very difficult… although that doesn’t affect me because I am usually on foot.

If these guys were a publicly traded company, I’d short them. This is literally the worst-managed business on South Beach. There are 3 specific reasons why I have this view: 1. Truly awful customer service. Imagine the worst smell that’s ever hit your nostrils… a festering, rancid, vomit inducing smell. Take that and apply it to the category of customer service and you’ll just be scratching the surface on how badly they treat their customers. My story: I went in last week and purchased a bottle of Conundrum White for a girlfriend’s birthday party. Get to the party; she’s excited; wants to open it up; unscrew the top; get two glasses; do a toast; take a sip. Puke. Literally, we both threw up in our mouths. The wine was spoiled. It tasted like it was filtered through a used baby’s diaper and put back in the bottle. That bad. Instead of releasing the smell on the rest of the guests, I immediately threw it out. The next day I go into Gulf Liquors and explain my situation. The Manager(Wilson) who sold me the wine wasn’t there. I was told there was nothing they could do and to come back the next day. Sigh. So the next day I returned. He remembered me and I told him my problem. I explained that there were two ways he could handle this:(1) fix it by giving me another bottle or alternatively refunding my money or(2) lose a customer for life. His response was a condescending, «there’s nothing we can do.» Really, jerk? Really? Ok, well since Wilson can’t do math, I’ll do it for him: they make $ 2 — $ 25 on a bottle of wine /liquor(the type that I buy). So instead of making it right and selling me a few more bottles down the line(which would have made them«even» from an economic sense and would have righted this serious wrong from a customer sense), they chose to lose a customer for life. Wilson, sir: you clearly can’t do math and you most emphatically don’t give two sheets about your customers. A big condescending«way to go» right back at you — I see your career as being cut short from a series of stupid decisions like the one you made on me. 2. Gulf’s selection — while nice(others have written this) — is marked up significantly higher than others in the area. Expensive real estate = expensive products to cover the overhead. Why pay up when there are 6 other options off Alton /Lincoln and literally within 2 blocks that have nearly the same choices? 3. Parking is a nightmare with only 1 spot for their business. Seriously, 1 spot? It’s almost not believable. If you choose, you can fight with Lincoln Roadies for one of the public spots — just be prepared to roam around for 20 minutes, get frustrated, then park illegally and almost assuredly get a ticket from the always-on-patrol parking police. In summary, Gulf Liquors doesn’t care about you. Service is the worst in the area — probably the worst in the country. This is not an overstatement. Prices equate to legalized robbery. And there are no parking spots available for customers. Why on earth would you want to give these guys your support? I don’t. And I never will. Note: I specifically signed up as a reviewer on Unilocal to warn others. No, I don’t work for a competitor — I work in finance and I care about local businesses that care about my business. Take heed!

I purchased an online deal through a well known service where I was able to get $ 20.00 worth of merchandise and all I paid for the deal was $ 10.00. When I arrived to the place I was approached by an employee who I advised that I was looking to use my deal. He from there stated that I was only able to get bottles that were $ 20.00 and up and not the lesser value that I had chosen. I mentioned to him that there was no reference to that in the package that I had purchased and he replied that«it was a misunderstanding with the online business.» I then stated that I understand how they work as I have used the same service in my line of business. Unfortunately, I was not able to purchase what I truly wanted. So I called the online service and complained about Gulf Liquors on Alton Road. They in return advised that they would have their support team look into it because they should NOT have done that and they were concerned that they could be doing the same thing with other individuals. Good thing I was able to get my refund.

Great selection of hard to find beers. The only place on the beach where I have found St. Bernardus 12 and Three Philosophers. VERY helpful staff who manage to fit a huge selection in a small storefront.

GREAT Selection, went in there to find some somewhat hard to find wine and they had them :) The service was awesome. The guy that helped me find everything was on top of it even when I only had half the name of the wine… and they deliver :)
