Jazz on South Beach Hostel

The Bad: [general] The staff is all rude, arrogant, young, stupid kids who don’t care about the guests and have never been taught manners. In addition they will try to squeeze every dollar out of you. Friendly is a word that doesn’t exist in this hostel. Yes, the location is good but your much better off at SoBe Hostel around the corner. Avoid this horrible place at all costs! Read on to learn why they were so rude…[specifics] (1) I booked on
and got a confirmation through Gomio. which charged me the deposit money. The young person at the desk had no information about my confirmation. I mentioned that the hostel must agree to have their rooms showed on the website and he should speak to the manager if he doesn’t know how to check. He said it’s not his problem and told me to deal with it myself. (2) I got food poisoning and a high fever my first night in Miami. My first two nights I was in a shared hostel room and my third night was a private room. They refused to let me in my private room early even with a high fever and they made me sit out in the lobby or told me to go for a walk instead of letting me in my room early, even though I was already at the hostel. (3) They charge to hold your bags on your last day while you wait for transportation. (It’s customary to hold someones bags free for a couple hrs while they wait to leave the area) to make matters worse after I paid begrudgingly I went to to put my friends additional backpack with her large bag and the desk attendee demanded another $ 4. I wanted to punch him in the face! The good: Rooms are satisfactory for sleeping.

Dirty, sand in clean beds and sheets, too many people in the rooms, bathroom was unclean and dirty. Should have less mixed rooms. Not a very nice atmosphere, didnt feel like a place to hang out or socialise. Staff were rude and not accommodating. Only good things were the location and pancakes in the morning. Wouldn’t stay there again or recommend anyone else.

This hostel is very clean and located a little further from the main part of South Beach. It’s a quiet environment and there are rules to keep it that way. Hostels rooms are pretty spacious compared to other hostels in South Beach. I love how there are activities every night to get people involved. It also saves you money which is great! They have computers you can rent and the breakfast is simple, waffles and coffee. Good bang for your buck!

Good location and value but small and uncomfertable beds. I only hated one thing about this place and that is the staff. I don’t understand why they would get a job at a hostel if they arent people person. Some guy nicely asked if they could put on the basketball game since it was miami playing the finals but the girl at the reception said she wont do it if he is being pushy and that there are many places where he can watch the game. They never smile and this gives the place a jail atmosphere

Beds HORRIBLE they are very tiny (Toddler crib bed size) and they have sharp springs that poke you. I tested other beds in other rooms and heard the same complaint. Their rules are listed all over the place in large bold and it feels like a jail. The staff acts like you are lucky to be there rather than THEY are lucky to have you a a guest.
I will never ever ever stay there again. I checked out early for many many unpleasant reasons. Dirty bathrooms, they got cleaned only once while I was there.
One big issue is to check you bill properly. I noticed three major errors on my bill which they took care of but they were not very nice about it. It was a big problem for me and I felt I could not trust them with my business again.
On the good side they are in a good location and I met some very nice people but we all agreed the service could be much much better.

They give you sheets, a towel, and a blanket, which is awesome. This place has the normal hostel rules, with the kitchen closed after hours and free wifi in the lobby and quiet hours. They even have free breakfast from 9 – 10! I stayed in a 10 or 12 person room for $ 14 a night. They have tiny lockers you can use with your own lock as well. The staff was friendly and the location is nice– a short walk to Miami beach, restaurants, and clubs.

Great location. Room had several problems though: leaking air conditioner, uncomfortable beds, etc.
I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars, since we only stayed one night. Probably won’t return though, as there are other options in the area.

I like to stay at hostels. Maybe you do too. This review is for my fellow «Let’s go» friends. There are a lot of reasons to stay at a hostel. The price, the opportunity to meet and interact with other travelers, the chance to cook your own meals and so on.
Had I stayed at a hotel anywhere near the area of this hostel? The rates were have been hundreds of dollars per night. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather stay here and use the savings to rent a Ferrari or buy lots of pairs of shoes. You get the picture.
The pros: location, location, location. This hostel is steps from the beach and stumbling distance to the bar scene in south beach. The hostel was clean, clean, clean. The staff are great and I made friends easily.
The cons. No towels included? I bought some at Ross instead of «renting them» from here. No parking. Street parking is a nightmare. Loud noises from the party. Bring earplugs.
This hostel offers cheap meals that people seem fond of, I am allergic to them but you can take advantage for only $ 3!
I had a single air ticket that I had to use so I ended up in Miami at the last minute solo. Try as I may, I could not find anyone to go with me. I felt safe here and I met some amazing European girls who were willing to let me hang out with them and take me dancing. Thanks! It was meant to be. I get the feeling that this hostel gets a lot of business from Paris and the UK.
I had a blast here. I’d come back. Highly recommended for those that want to party. Not so much for those that want to sleep. You can sleep when you are dead!

Location was great, price was great, but I have a few gripes about the place.
First thing was that there were always a group of really old drunkards hanging around in the lobby and courtyard drinking from morning till night. At first it was easy to dismiss, but I suppose staying here for a week and seeing it day after day can get to you.
Second, the beds were incredibly small, and again, having random really old (45 y/​o +) drunkards in your hostel and potentially your room can get to you. I was on the top bunk and there were many times when I was about to fall off the bunk.
Then again, there isn’t very much you can expect out of a hostel that is so cheap and in such a decent area of South Beach.
But then, it would be at least 4 stars+ if they got rid of these old alcoholics. Maybe like some other youth hostels, place an age limit of 35 or something moderate?
Oh yeah, breakfast is included, but it is a very tiny breakfast. Think toast and coffee. I heard other hostels in the area offer 2 – 3 meals per day that are much more filling. This can be a big advantage point since most food in the area is at least $ 10/​meal.
