The Rock ‘n Roll series of races is always a good time, and I am so happy we have one here in Miami now! Everything about the race was top-notch, from the fitness expo right on the beach, to the course support and the music! The course layout itself was similar to pretty much every other half marathon run on Mimai beach. I did like going over I-I95 instead of the venetian like you do on the ING. Pit Bull was the performer for the end of race concert. How can a race not be good if it ends with Pitt Bull?

This race was fun and definitely not boring. The course is tough. It’s not impossible but I don’t see it as a PR sort of course. You cross I beliee 4 – 5 bridges with one or two being pretty long. The volunteers we good. The medal is nice. And obviously the location is awesome. This year, 2011, it rained at like mile 9 and stopped by mile 10 so it was kind of refreshing but definitely slowed you down.

This race was SOFUN! If you’re a beginner runner and your goal is to run a ½, run this! If you live out of state and want a beautiful destination race, run this! If you’re a race veteran and want to be impressed with incredible event management and live music, run this! Really happy that this Rock ‘n Roll series race came to South Florida. I’ve done a few others around the country and this race was def up to snuff with Competitor Sports’ high event production standards. What a treat to have a handful of Olympians race this. And… um, Pitbull LIVE at the free finish line concert? These race organizers executed to perfection. Course starts/finishes at Lummus Park taking you north then west over the Julia Tuttle Causeway, south down 2nd Ave through downtown, east across the 195, and through South of Fifth neighborhood. There’s no chance you’ll get bored with this gorgeous scenery: Biscayne Bay dotted with islands at sunrise, skyline of downtown, and of course Lummus Park beach at the finish! Strengths that make this an incredible 5 star race: Organization and pre race info via emails, updated website Tons of race support staff upon packet pickup and along the course LIVEMUSIC just about every mile! Stocked water stations with Accelerade and GU at mile 8(when you need it!) Fitted gender specific technical finisher T-shirts. I’ll actually wear this one. Pacer groups Clout and $$ to pull in a huge headliner like as PITBULL Beautiful course and perfect weather JUSTDOIT!
