Went to Miami Beach SoundScape for the WALLCAST Concert series for the New World Symphony on a beautiful Saturday evening. Quality Soundscape Park is a quaint park located right off Lincoln Road and next to the New World Symphony building. On certain nights the wall of the building is used to display the concert occurring within the building or on other occasions popular movie. There are some trees and sculptures in the way if you don’t get to the park early, but the sound system is of good quality to enjoy the music even if you don’t get their early. Quantity Plenty of space is available for you to grab a blanket and set up seats for the show. The seats directly in front of the wall go fastest, but there will be seats even if you arrive late. Value The magic of the WALLCAST series is that it is absolutely free. I would recommend bringing along some food and drink to enjoy during the show, but the entertainment and access to the park are both free. Ambiance The park is a very modern art design, focusing on sculpture and pathways more than nature itself. Because of this there is plenty of space to lie down a blanket. When events occur the park fills up with lots of people all over with blankets and chairs to watch the shows. Lots of children will be running around and dogs as well. It is a very laid back and family friendly environment. We went for a symphony show so I found it a bit dull, I think I would have preferred to come for a movie night. However, it is hard to complain too much about a free show under the stars. Definitely check the weather ahead of time though because there is not much coverage if it rains. Crowd Lots of families and lots of Miami Beach locals who know this is a hidden gem. It definitely felt like most people had come before as they were much more prepared with lawn chairs and other picnic supplies that would have improved the experience. Service The park was extremely clean despite the large group of people and there were police circulating often, so no worries about people causing problems. Parking There is a large parking deck on 17th and Pennsylvania, right next to Lincoln Road and the New World Symphony that is very affordable. However, you could also try and hunt for street parking and other lots and decks exist too, but they tend to be a bit pricier. Extra Although not without its faults, such as kids and animals running wild, it is a nice park that provides quality entertainment for free. It really is up to you to maximize the experience by packing the best picnic possible. Just make sure to check the event calendar, the weather, and make sure to arrive early.

One of the many reasons I love living in the beach is the free events that take place around town. The soundscape has some really amazing sound despite it being outdoors. It plays movies on Wednesday nights at 8pm in fall winter and spring months. Past Saturday I went to see the live Orchestra performance on the screen and it was delightful. Make sure to arrive 30 – 40 mins prior at least to get a center large space. I did notice that when viewing the Orchestra a lot of people brought chairs as opposed to blankets than when seeing the movies play in Wednesday’s because it more of an older crowd. You can Pinic on the grass and even bring your pets! Past time I went I luckily brought a chair because the grass was wet despite that it didn’t rain for two days so not sure if that was a sprinkle system that went off or not but keep that in mind!

Get there early, even though starts on Miami Standard Time(MST), which is 5 – 10 minutes behind Eastern time. It is always crowded.

I’m so happy I’ve found this place! I plan to come regularly on Wed nights :) I love being able to have a picnic, snack, wine and watch a movie in the outdoors with the beautiful Miami weather. I highly recommend!

I love everything about these events. I’ve been going for two years now & I look forward to every new season. Best spot for a date night where you don’t need to spend much money. Bring a blacker and some food and/or drinks and enjoy the movie of the night. Every Wednesday(and some Thursday’s) they play a different movies. They show both new & old movies alike & you can find the schedule online to see if you want to see the movie they’re playing that week. I definitely recommend seeing an older movie or one that you’ve never seen before. It’ll make your experience that much better. Best way to spend fall/winter nights in Miami.

I first heard about these events last year, but could never go because of work. So when I found out I had Wednesday off the first day of the series I was ecstatic! I live in broward and driving to south beach is usually a nightmare, but because it’s in the evening the traffic is significantly less and it was actually a pleasant drive. I brought two sheets, some snacks, wine, water and two of my besties. The movie showing was Batman, The Dark Knight Rises. The sound quality was excellent, as was the visual quality. It was a perfect 77 degree night and I really enjoyed laying back and relaxing. It was so communal and serene! It did end up raining before the movie ended, so He crowd scattered. For anyone thinking of attending, here are some things I would have done different: I would advise bringing a thicker sheet/sleeping bag/towel or folding chair(just in case the ground is wet), an umbrella, a pillow, and lots of yummy snacks. It’s a perfect date night, girls night, or family event!

It is such a blast to come here and watch the movies on Wednesday night! Great use of the space and so amazing that this is provided to the community by a sponsor. I think it creates a great venue for people to enjoy the arts. The sound is great no matter your location and the projection is done very well.

We have been attending the Wallcast for years now, and it’s always an amazing experience. We always bring a blanket, drinks, food, and make it a whole family experience. The sound is really good, and you can’t beat to have a cinema experience, for free, in South Beach. I agree with other revieweres, please be mindful and bring blankets, or low seating chairs. Director chairs or the tall folding chairs make it so the person behind you can’t see anything, specially on days that are kids movies. Also, if you don’t like noises, and people getting up to pee, rent from red box. There is some cranky people out there, but it’s still a wonderful experience. We’ve been meaning to do a date night there, maybe next time! If you didn’t brought food and drinks, you can always call Pizza Fiore across the street, and go pick up a pizza and some drinks, we have done that in a Jiffy too!

The experience is a good as you make it. However, there are some things to consider. The sound system is great but it does have to compete with the liveliness of SoBe that surrounds it. I’ve had to adjust at the beginning of each movie I’ve seen there but I was fine in no time. Some tips to make the most of your viewing entertainment. Bring blankets, beach mats, anything to sit on. I suggest a beach chair. The low ones so that people behind you aren’t struggling the watch the movie. The grass has been kinda moist the couple times I’ve been so my mat didn’t keep my butt from being a little moist after the show. Bring food and drinks. Make a picnic out of it. Acelyn B and I learned after our first encounter that it would be a good move. It paid off the second time. It’s pet friendly if you want to bring your pooch along. I’m sure they’d have a grand ol’ time there as well. The CinemaSeries really makes for a great outing.

My two movie nights here have made me wishing I could make this a weekly routine. I’ve been to other movies on the lawn type events and enjoyed, but I also attended those with low expectations. C’mon, you’re outside on the grass with a hundred other people all trying to get comfy watching a make-shift screen and hoping everyone(& everything around) keeps quiet so you can catch the dialogue. For me, it’s always been more about the experience than the movie. SoundScape ups the ante by having amazing speakers, which is much needed considering there is city traffic around you. I was very surprised that I didn’t have to strain my ears or shush people around me. The wall makes for a very good and large projected picture, beating out any projector screen pop-up. Bring some dinner, drinks, great company, blankets, and if must be, lawn chairs. But PLEASE, make sure it’s the LOW lawn chairs. Remember this isn’t your house or a stadium seating theater. People behind you would like to see the movie too.

Love the soundscape! I’ve been here a few times since moving to MB… first time, I saw the famous film noir, Sunset Blvd… nostalgic for me since I grew up watching the oldies with my mom. My second time around was JAWS… totally different experience seeing it outdoors on a WallCast so close to the ocean! What a great time; relaxing outside on crisp Miami winter evenings with so many other locals, enjoying the classics(and sometimes newer releases)! ***Relaxing, exciting, FREE, great date night, great pre-gaming spot, BYOBlanket & booze. No glass allowed. Pet friendly. Good times!

I first thought the earth was threatening to rupture based on all the noise coming from the NWS, then I realized it was only Hogwarts facing doomsday. Whew. I went from a state of terror to euphoria. Harry Potter playing on the huge walls of NWS?! This is AWESOME. And hey, there are movies here every Wednesday night in the Winter time. Bring some picnic blankets and food, and you’ll have a good time. You can find the list of movies here:

What do you mean I’ve never reviewed SoundScape Park at the New World Symphony?! You bad Unilocaler you! Amazing generosity on the part of the City by way of a special agreement with New World means tons of free events at this lovely, modern park. Movies, concerts, performances, oh my! Beautiful architecture and creative design. Floral vines and mind blowing stereo seamlessly infused into the natural surroundings. Bottom Line: must-do in Miami Beach!

In a town with so little to do that’s totally free, this is a refreshing change that makes Miami a little more livable and a lot more like a «real city» as I sometimes put it. Not long ago I was in San Francisco visiting a friend, she told me about the movie nights they do out in nearby Delores Park, and it reminded me of how little we have back home… And then this happens and my hope that Miami will one day suck a little less comes one step closer. Thank you.

what a great thing to have in our beautiful, magical city! ive known about it for a while but it wasnt until recently that i got to check it out. lady b whom i had not seen in a while suggested the idea to go watch young frankenstein on halloween night, take some to-go sushi from moshi moshi with us and of course a couple of bottles of sake too. doesnt that sound like a good plan? plus, we were blessed with gorgeous weather that evening so what could go wrong? absolutely nothing! even though we got there a bit after the movie started(cause we were really looking for good sake at every liquor store in south beach) we were still able to find a cozy spot to make our own. the screen is large and the sound is crisp. it is safe to say that everyone who was at the soundscape had a good view. i will for sure go back as they have a few classics lined up, for example: indiana jones, edward scissorhands, the goonies, etc. admission is completely free. youre encouraged to bring blankets, pillows, something to munch on and your beverage of choice. this is a great date destination and dont worry much about restrooms as theres a few portables very near by and they were very well kept and clean. we in miami beach are blessed. we truly are and the soundscape wallcast is certainly an extra perquisite that we must not take for granted.

Free Movies!!! This place is so Kewl. Located in South Beach on Washington Ave. I went there last night to watch Spaceballs! Great Movie by the way! If you come early you can pick your spot to watch the movie. Just bring a blanket or chairs to sit down on. You can bring food and drinks if you like. Great for families, groups, and kids. Plenty of security and police walking around to discourage panhandling. You can hear the movie perfectly. Great place to come and relax and watch a Free Movie!

WallCast was a great surprise I was told about movies being shown on the outside wall of the New World Symphony building but thought it wouldn’t be that good. I thought the picture would be bad and I thought it would be hard to hear. Turns out the the picture is great. The sound is plenty loud. I think the speakers were hidden inside all the fake metal trees and columns. I didn’t even notice the noise from the traffic or the light from the street lights. I arrived an hour early and brought a couple of folding chairs. The area really starts to get very busy 30 minutes before the film starts. A lot of people brought blankets and enjoyed a picnic during the movie. There was even a male couple that had a whole wine cheese and fruit spread out on a wooden cutting board(it was so cute). Next time I’m bringing my own picnic too. Wish I lived closer because I know where I would be every Wednesday nights.
