Miami-Dade Public Library System – North Shore Branch

No rules in here in terms of being quiet. Plenty of tables to read or study but no rules or respect to people doing it. Phone rings on and loud. People talk on their phones and talk loud as well as talk non stop with each other in group studies. No room with strict silence policy like in other libraries. Also the glass ceiling seems like haven’t been cleaned in ages, pretty embarrassing.

Check the hours before going — the library system is being underfunded and many libraries are being slated to be closed. Hours for regionals may be reduced down to three days a week and branches to two days a week. Check
to see if they can survived this…

This is my local library branch.
It is a super small space, but there are plenty of tables and study areas both upstairs and down. I am more often just there to pick up books I order through the inter library loan system. They also have a pretty decent selection of materials and of course wi-​fi as well.
I am a huge supporter of libraries and I think they provide an important service to the community. They even have laptops available for people to use (and possibly check out but I am not positive).
The service is there is what really makes this a great library. The employees are always super friendly even when the place is crowded and busy. Just a warning however that if you don’t have proof of residency in Miami Dade county you will have to pay I believe $ 100 for a library membership. But if you live in this neighborhood, this library is a great spot.
