We just happened upon the Purdy Lounge on Monday(Reggae). We had the best time yet since we’ve been here. The bartenders were nice and the band was so amazing. The people were so friendly. I haven’t danced like that in a long while. Well, we have to go back home to the Nations Capitol tomorrow but we will definitely be back for more! Thank you for making my daughters 21st birthday the best time ever!!! CHEERS!!!

Music, and drinks and dancing to a Scarface-themed room in Mid-beach? I’m all in! Purdy Lounge has been around awhile. A lot longer than I had been coming to Miami Beach as an adult, but I quickly took fondness to it as we had first went a couple years ago on the eve of my birthday. We rang in by way of the aforementioned«Scarface room», which is really just another sectioned off bar-room area in the back, but with a giant mural of a sun-setting Miami Beach, exactly as depicted in the film. The lounge all in all is nice, it is dark but enough light to see all. The remodeled DJ booth to look like a giant amplifier, and the bar area wraps around a long stretch, so you are sure to get good service. Admittedly, the action does not pick up until late, I mean, after midnight, and of course with all the competition on Miami Beach, the SoBe crowd may not even know of this great spot. We particularly like it for that fact, not just because it is close to a lot of the area we like to hang out at when on the beach, but there really is something to be said for getting away from that congestion and hustle and bustle of SoBe. Prices for drinks are modest, even for an area that is not as happening as SoBe, but the quality is great and the servers and staff are very friendly; again, something that is sometimes hard to find in SoBe. So I can easily give Purdy Lounge a big plus or thumbs up!

This spot was cool but it was very crowded when we got there. It was hard to move around and there wasn’t a lot of space for dancing although the place is large. The drinks are pretty cheap though and they were strong. The crowd is really random, not as attractive as some other places but it was a good vibe. Not much to say, it’s a pretty standard bar/club, but there’s no cover and there wasn’t a line either so it’s a great spot to go to last minute or at the beginning of your night.

I found this place to be quite underwhelming. Given that it is one of the most well known and loved dive bars on the island, we had to stop by and see if Purdy Lounge had anything to make our slow Saturday evening anymore upbeat. There were literally 3 patrons when we walked in and as we went to order, they were leaving. It was explained to us that this place is more of a late night joint, and we were there at 10pm, so basically I guess we were way early. Beers were like 6 or 7 bucks. I like dives but I just didn’t really feel it here. 2.5 stars. I would have to go back when they are busy to see if I really like it.

This place plays good music but the security staff is small and really doesn’t do a great job of taking care of customers. It’s a little know fact that girls epically white girls can not go to the back room by them selves because they will be touch and caressed by drunk and aggressive males. The staff seems over worked and stressed out. There music is good but once again there security staff has to step up there ability to see trouble makers and deal with them before the drunk males chance off every woman customer.

I came with one other girl friend late on a Friday night. We were disappointed to discover we had to wait in a long, slow moving line, even though we were two good looking young girls. We were even more confused how larger groups of people got to go right in. Once we were finally inside, the bouncer informed us that our other 2 friends could only skip the line if they paid a $ 10 cover. Needless to say they left. So, we quickly ordered a drink & enjoyed the wide range of hip-hop music. I did really enjoy the music and the atmosphere but only stayed for one drink before moving on to something else.

Great, great music. Purdy always delivers on fantastic music. I actually went on a random night during the week and it was extremely empty. It was also early. I was able to play pool and have a couple of drinks. It was a very different purdy. I kindly requested the bartender for a music change and he was not to eager to satisfy my ears. Aside from this somewhat neutral experience I have always enjoyed my time at purdy. It’s a solid place to have a good time. Non pretentious.

Went here after dinner at pubbelly. Got there around 10/10:30 on a Saturday night and we were one of three groups there. By 11:30 it had filled up some. Good music and drinks. Only problem was we were a group Of five and their sitting isn’t really set up for that. But I’m too old to stand ;)

Too many blondes this Isnt 2003! Time to upgrade in the brunettes. But, they did a good job with the Christmas tree lights on the ceiling. Pink! I love pink. Breast cancer awareness, you know!

I have been going to Purdy Lounge for nearly 10 years, almost every visit I have made to Miami I make sure I go back for Monday Reggae nights. I planned my most recent trip to leave on Tuesday just so I could go to Monday Reggae night. Red Stripes for 4 dollars, live reggae music, and dancehall music DJ playing in the back room definitely call for a great experience. You will always find a good dance partner and get ready to sweat your ass off dancing. LOVEPURDY! But can we get it to be a non-smoking bar please??? It’s really a turn off when you can barely breathe from the cigarette smoke!

They have the main dance floor and a small room with reggae, Caribbean music. This is my second time coming here and I honestly thought the music could have been better. While the music was a lot of throwback, some of it was not good for dancing. It was extremely crowded so if you’re not into that I would not recommend coming here. I came with friends and we ended leaving earlier than expected.

This is my all-time-favorite. I am been a patron of Purdy, for years and years. I love the music(early 2000’s, current), I also love that drinks are way more affordable here, than most places on the beach. They one thing I do not like is the smoking, but, it is a bar, after all. I have some great memories at this bar. I don’t go out much, now a days, but when I do, I always end up… at Purdy!

In my early 20’s I spent a lot of weekends in SoBe getting into the hottest clubs, which despite being scantily clad, in a group with the right ratio of men: women, knowing the right promoters and buying bottles, always resulted in some sort of annoyance. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll happily do this again once or twice a year for the right birthday party lol, but for the most part those days are past me(maybe not the scantily clad lol) and I’m happy to have a much more chill night with some friends, and when the need for going out arises, I know Purdy has my back, and I won’t be annoyed with the getting-in process! Best part for me about Purdy — the music. Mostly Top 40’s, you’ll also find your favorite throw back 90’s or 00’s jam(who doesn’t love Ja Rule?), combined with the fact that the back room often becomes reggae/soca, which for myself and my friends from home, well this is perfect. Just like being home, minus the cheap drinks lol. Speaking of drinks, this is still SoBe and the drinks aren’t cheap, but they aren’t as bad and they could be. 18% automatic gratuity and the bartenders are great at reminding you of this fact, which is nice. Smoke. A lot of people mention the smoke in here, which is definitely an issue, made worse by the fact that they sell cigarettes, so anyone in their drunken stupor can become a smoker too. By the end of the night the place does get packed, REALLYPACKED, and you’ll probably end up quite close to someone smoking.

I was Miami beach for my birthday and I heard good things about Purdy’s hip hop night on Sunday. The venue is a decent size with sofas/chairs when you walk in. There is a dance floor as well as another room in the back. The music was a lot of old school hip hop in the front room and reggae in the back room. It got pretty packed around 1. I’ll admit even though the hip hop was OLD the vibe was right. The reggae dj was also really on point. This seems like a great place to step out and dance. The crowd seems cool and young but they didn’t seem to be much of the dancing crowd which was a disappointment but I can’t blame the venue for that. Overall it was good experience but I wish it was more of a dancing crowd. I’d go back the next I’m in town.

Purdy Lounge is IT, hunni. My girlfriend and I wanted to go somewhere low key but fun on our last night of vacation. Purdy Lounge was recommended as a dope reggae spot where Miami locals hang out. No cover, chill vibe and good music? We were sold. No issues with the bouncer at the door. The bartender was extra generous with his pours and even gave us our second round of drinks on the house. There was a live band in the front area of the bar, but the real party was in the back room. The DJ was spinning the best reggae and dancehall. Luckily we got there early because it gets packed. By about 12:30, the small room was completely full, but we were all there to dance and have a good time, so the crowd was very cool. A few creeps trying to cop a feel, but I guess it comes with the dutty whining territory. I would’ve liked a little more variety in music, like maybe some hip hop or something, but even still, I will definitely come back to Purdy Lounge during my next trip to South Beach. It’s a nice change from the big clubs on Ocean/Washington.

I came here two weekends ago with my girlfriends for my bachlorette. We’re in our 30’s and didn’t want to rage with the ultra crowd but still wanted to break it down. This place has no cover, reasonably priced drinks and the crowd is chill and cool and not super creepy. If you shake your booty, they may still try to smack dat but nothing different than any other club. Overall, I loved this place and had a great time and still managed to party until some ungodly hour… and yes… they did try to smack dat.

This place is crazy… and although it probably has little to do with the establishment itself, the crowd here is spooky. Yikes. There was crap spread all over the toilets. Drunkenness everywhere. It’s filthy. You need a spray washer after walking into this joint.

Well… You gotta love this place for what it is. I been there before on Mondays when they’re having Reggae night, it was fun, chilled atmosphere but either this place has changed or maybe I’m getting too old but felt a little out of place this time around. There were more college kids than anything else. So I think I won’t be going back in the future. Plus, the bartenders don’t know how to make a decent drink, they only use the artificial stuff so I recommend that if you go, you stick to something simple like a beer :). Just saying. My highlight of the night was that I got carded ;) hahaha…

I’m tailoring this review for readers visiting Miami. Often, Lincoln Rd, Washington, Collins and Ocean(outside of Miami International Airport) are the sole experiences/areas visitors mistakenly peruse. Miami is more than Barbie doll dresses and orange tans you’ll find when patronizing the big name venues. Off the beaten path, a hidden gem awaits: Purdy Lounge. No rediculous cover and no insane lines to create a buzz on the Sunset Harbor strip; if there is a line, it’s certainly only because it’s packed and the reason being: it’s just that good. Hot crowd(both men and women), real people, a bit of a meat market considering there’s no real dance floor but kudos for getting people actually wanting to dance. This is a beer and shot kinda crowd, not the VIP bottle service and«refill my bottled water because I popped too many Molly’s» set. Music stems from dirty reggae and throwback hip-hop to rock bands. Always a dope vibe and always real Miami people out for a legit good time without compromising their future children’s college educations.

Fun spot. Came here at beginning of 2014. Not pretentious at all. They play old school hip hop, R&B, & top 40 hits. A fun time had by all. Dress however you like. And the patrons act like human beings.
