A lot of people are sleep when it comes to Winn Dixie they still have a few good deals. They still do the 10 for $ 10 and buy one get one free. I mean saving is saving regardless of where it is. I honestly don’t prefer to shop here but from time to time do especially when the crabs are on sale… Unilocal lol

After a very active«Who doesn’t like Publix» talk thread, I’d been thinking about the difference between Winn-Dixie and Publix a little more. I’m a fan of Publix(where shopping is a pleasure), myself. Maybe I just wasn’t giving Winn-Dixie a chance? Imagine my surprise when my mom asked me to take her to Winn-Dixie last night. «Great, I can give the place another go.», I thought. To be fair, we were there to get a handful of stuff. I didn’t have the opportunity to compare a lot of the items I regularly shop for, nor did I get to walk around the whole store. What I did see was clean and neatly stocked aisles, bright lighting, some good sales(a gallon of Blue Bell for $ 4.50 vs reg. price of $ 6.99!) and tasty-looking bakery items. In terms of service, it was QUITE the mixed bag. For example my experience at the deli, circa 6:30pm. Keep in mind, there’s a huge hanging sign behind the counter that says something like«Subs Made Fresh». I approached said counter and after receiving no acknowledgment after standing there for about 35 seconds… Me: «Hi, you make subs fresh, right?» Deli Rep: «NOPE, I’m done!» *much emphasis on the«NOPE”* Me: «Oh, really? Well what time does your section here close?» DR: «It’s not so much as when the section closes, it’s more about when I run out of bread.» Me: «Oh, I see. Thanks.» *sigh* I wanted to like Winn-Dixie. I really did. But that whole exchange was unacceptable. It was 6:30 in the early evening. Why are you out of bread already? And why not just say that from the beginning? On the other hand, the service at the customer service counter in the front was a different story. Although it took going through 3 people and about 12 minutes to finally get the issue solved, everybody was extremely friendly and professional. Will I go back to Winn-Dixie? Probably not. Winn-Dixie had its chance to change my mind — didn’t happen. Publix doesn’t rub me the wrong way and when the prices start to bother me, Walmart is there to pick up the pieces. If it ain’t broke, I ain’t trying to fix it.
