I hired George and his crew of guys to restore old terrazzo flooring in my home. After contacting a few companies, i chose to go with Acropolis because they could start ASAP. George explained to me the process he does and how the floor was going to shine real bright, with these diamond grinds and crystal polish. He said he was going to fill any deep holes with a color similar to the original floor. He said he was going to try to grind any stains away. BUT, he was going to be able to get around the edges because his machine won’t get that close. I had thinset on top of the terrazzo and his crew removed it by grinding it down to the terrazzo before starting the restoration process. George told me that his restoration will last about 2 – 3 years before he would have to come back to touch up the areas more frequently used. And this seemed to be the average of a few other companies. He told me it was going to take about 3 – 4 days. I figured these days would be 8a-4p or 9a-5p. Apparently not. His guys were working past sundown. i thought this was a bit inconsiderate as a customer.(Most people tend to have engagements in the evening, whether its work, family, etc.) So as the days passed, i notice the holes are a darker color than the floor and his worker is coloring the hole repairs with sharpie markers(at this point i learned that its better to spend a little more and get someone that knows this trade, and does it correctly.) I ask him if there were going to be any chips added. he said no, he colors them in. After he finished polishing in the«crystal,» the floors looked great. they really SHINED. i thought this was the correct way, but i didn’t do my full research on restoring terrazzo floors. This is where it all goes downhill. The floors didn’t last a year and a half. the shine dulled, some discoloration started forming, and the hole repairs looked HORRENDOUS(the color is nowhere near the original floor background. it stands out from the rest of the floor and is a huge eye sore). I will never recommend this company and this has been a learning experience for me when choosing contractors. He also did some tile polishing for a neighbor. She also had a negative experience with him, as the polish faded quickly. She said that she did a better job herself with items from Home Depot. DONOTHIRETHISCOMPANY or GEORGETZELEPIS
