I have been doing Crossfit for about two years. I have been a member of the no-frills, grungy«box“which can be loads of fun once fall rolls in, but miserable in the summer. You do not want to be using someone’s sweaty medicine ball or barbell. Take my advice on this one. Not to mention be next to a guy with less than great hygiene. Lastly, and one of the important aspects when considering a Crossfit gym is the ratio between coach and members. If the gym exceeds a ratio of 12 to 14 members to 1 coach, do not join. It is impossible for a coach to give each member the attention he or she deserves. I recently dropped by Aim Higher because I know Thiago from his days at Equinox and decided to give it a spin. I have taken two classes there and let me just say this place is great. Coach Ryan is fantastic and so is the gym. The classes aren’t so full that a coach cannot give a member some attention. They work on form, which if you know anything about olympic weightlifting, is the single most important factor to an injury-free Crossfit experience. The mobility class with Coach Rinaldi is fantastic. For those of you that do Crossfit, you know mobility is extremely important. Thanks to Aim Higher, I am really enjoying Crossfit because I think by working on my form, having smaller classes and excellent coaches, I will be able to work on those things which I am not very good at(which are quite a few). If you are looking for a great Crossfit box which takes coaching seriously, check out Aim Higher. I can assure you will not be disappointed.
