Canvas

We have been to several events at Canvas. The Miami Flea, bonfire, movies, brunch and recently the A&E District anniversary party. A good time was had at each and every event. But I’m not here to review the events but rather the venue itself. The place is great. I love the huge courtyard and how it is lit up at night. There are always plenty of Adirondacks to sit and enjoy some great music. There is usually plenty of police and security in the area and at the event. As always, be aware of your surroundings.
Parking around the area is free but who knows how long that will last. Same goes for this great event venue. Once they break ground and start building, where will all these cool community events be held?

Came with some friends for the Locos Por Juana event. A good time was had. It was a cute space, sound system was good. Parking was readily available and free! (Will I be able to say the same in 6 months??) Nice venue.

Been here a couple times already for their bbq brunch and last time I came for smores under the stars with the Spam Allstars performing. They handing out free smores ingredients and had little Bön fired a two food trucks and two bars. This place is a great local hang out for meeting up with friends. The vibe is pretty chill and you can strike up conversations with people as most are friendly hence why I have came alone sometimes.
The only downfall is that the bar has super long slow lines bc they have special cocktails you can order. I wish they would have the smaller bar just for beer and wine as a cash bar to speed up process.
They also usually have a coffee bar great for during day events. They have a couple of bench chairs and other chairs to relax in.
Great way to spend a low key evening vining on good local bands or watching movies under the stars. Check out their social media for upcoming events great way to have a different kind of night!

This event is for Secret Walls which was an event hosted by Cassie last Saturday at Canvas. Two groups of artists were each given their own blank canvas and 2 hours to make a creation on it. The audience enjoyed Becks beer and other libations coffee and food while watching the artists create. My favorite part was the wonderful DJ’s. They played everything from 70’s to the present. Happy songs that everybody knew. Great event! Thanks for inviting me.

Came here for the Secret Wall event. Parking was quick so that’s always a plus in my book. Check in was easy. Loved how the event was outside even though it was a hot and humid day in Miami. First thing we did was get a nice drink. Now these girls rocked, the set up for the lemonade we got was an old school metal camper had a cool vintage look and the bartenders had straight up pin up girl style. Loved that! They were quick with getting our drinks and friendly. There was a food truck to feed our hunger and cool gelato to keep us cool. The DJ’s kept the crowd busy on our feet with a mix of old school and funky electronic beats under the light bulb lit sky. When the event finally started they broke up 8 artists into 2 groups and had an hour and a half to complete the white canvases. What they did was amazing as the white canvases came to completion. What an awesome night! They were all winners in my book (I can’t even draw a straight line)
My only complaint is, in my opinion it should’ve been an all night event. Then they would’ve had the problem of trying to make me leave… LOL
Will definitely look forward to an event like this again!

Had the bestttttt time ever with my favorite Unilocaler Ericka G we danced the night away with the most amazing lemonade with vodka drinks as the dj spined old skool music and the secret walls were there doing there thing i will be posting my pics of the night… a must go place. also u can bring ur kids and pets.

Canvas, from what I can tell is a condominium project. They haven’t broken ground yet, but they will be there on NE 1^st Ave and NE 17^th Street. At this location you can find offices with a large courtyard in the back. Canvas often teams up with an organization called The Arts + Entertainment District to put on various events in the outdoor space.
You can often find bands and daytime bbq’s, outdoor movie screenings, even a vaudevillian type circus. It’s all done in an effort to bring folks from the surrounding area to grow this new and emerging parcel of Miami. Check out their event listings online and see for yourself.

I found out about Canvas Miami from friends. We came here for the Soul Train event which was so much fun! We came early to get the headphones, got escorted along with others to the metromover station, jammed to amazing music, rode the mover around, stopped at a few stations to dance and check out local musicians playing instruments, and having fun. We felt safe because there were security guards with us. That was a great night! We had so much fun.
We decided to come back again for more events. We were here for the Lazy Brunch BQ event and had fun. This place is outdoors, pet friendly, and full of locals. The food from Coyo was overpriced but good. I had the chicken burrito bowl $ 10. The music is great, the energy is hype, and good vibe. We brought our own blankets to lay down on the floor and sit on.
They are starting to do more events now that involves the community and locals, for example, an upcoming event is movie night this Thursday. Check it out! :-)

Though it’s a harbinger of a new — and very aesthetically pleasing high end condo — Canvas Miami is currently an empty lot with trees and string lights which comes alive various times throughout the week with events like Yoga, artistic movies and a Sunday Funday BBQ catered by Coyo Taco and Airstream Apothecary. This is where I spent Sunday afternoon, for their monthly «Lazy Brunch BQ». With the vibe of the summer block parties popularized in «Summertime» and «Who Do Ya Love», I was around fellow young creatives playing Jenga, Cornhole and jamming out to a mix of dirty blues and funky soul with a dab of 80s party classics. Other than a certain «beer» for which I have no love for whose name begins with an O, drinks were on point. My libation was the «Shake And Bake», a freshly prepared mix of pineapple mix and Sailor Jerry spiced run. smooth enough for a light, Sunday Funday buzz. Continuing the pineapple theme, I munched on two chicken tacos al pastor from Coyo Taco (food rehab after last night’s late night chain «Mexican») and their awesome black refried beans.
Speaking of Jenga, I was able to put my degree to good use with a lot of transfer girders to make a fairly tall would building, all the while collaborating with someone who called herself a Jenga mistress!
Back to the food, I also enjoyed the spicy elote (corn on the cob) from Coyo. Their dry rub BBQ ribs were pretty meaty, but next time I’ll just add more sauce.
Can we keep this sweet open courtyard and just have them build the condo around it?

Came here for a movie under the stars to see a screening of Only Lovers Left Alive. Seriously, this is an incredibly cool spot located in downtown Miami. If you know the area, then you will know there have been many changes and developement as well as community building. If you had come to this spot 5 years ago, you would know you’re in a very bad part of town, and these days the condos have replaced the crackheads. While I don’t think it is Canvas that puts on the events, maybe they just host. either way, it’s a very chill spot.

Canvas Miami has a nifty little outdoor space, where they host a variety of events. My first visit here tonight was to check out Movies Under the Stars in partner with AE District & The Miami International Film Festival. They wall-​cast some super hip artsy films in an outdoor area with bites and drinks available for purchase from local vendors.
I’ve driven by this spot a few times on the home from work and have also seen people walking in and out with yoga mats, so I had thought this was a yoga studio. However, currently AE District is hosting quite a few upcoming events in this space and they all seem to be well put together. The events I’ve seen range from the Lazy Sunday BBQ Brunch to Yoga meditation classes to photo exhibits.
They also appear to have a hand in real estate development in this part of Miami. It’s a super cool concept to work to expand the arts district and I plan to fully support their events. Way to go Canvas!
