Beats any fried chicken within a wide range. Chicken and waffles, fried mac n cheese, corn, nuggets, yumyum. No pics ’cause I was too busy consuming. Highly recommend.

The service was good, the chicken was great they deliver open late and have variety. The fried mac and cheese was great. The previous reviewer judged them on one employee who left her waiting and had the music too loud typical Unilocal nit picker. Try them out.

This place is a hole in the wall. Indoor seating for 10 and a take-out kind of place. The snack boxes are loaded with fries and crispy fried chicken. All food is made to order and fresh. The corn nuggets are creamy and crunchy, so yummy. The grilled chicken was moist a grilled to perfection with a side salad and brown rice. Fried chicken is their thing but they do have healthy options for a good price. I need to come back a tried the fried mac & cheese. All food comes in to-go boxes and the background music is the good old Cuban tunes. Owner is very nice and the staff is friendly. I will definitely return to try other items.

Super Great Service! Being from the Heights NYC I thought I’d check this place out. No disappointment whatsoever. Miss the hole in the wall cheap good food that’s so hard to find in Miami. Will be back for more! Btw we need one closer to downtown metro area.

It’s made to order so it will take a while. The chicken was very good. I don’t expect to be able to eat off the floor in a restaurant but this place could have used a clean up. All in all, the food was good and I would go back again.

I wanted to love this place so much, after stalking their IG page for months. I trekked from Broward for a taste of dominican fried chicken. Only to be disappointed! I ordered a six pieces wing only and the hubby got a three piece meal. While I waited for my meal, I stopped by the restroom. I came face to face with sewer gas and pissy floors. Turned off but determined to love this place. Let’s just say the Coke was the best thing on the menu. I got cold chicken that had been sitting under the heat lamp for hours. Hubby’s food was just as cold, heated only by the fresh mound of fries that came with his food. What a let down, next time I’ll save my time and gas for something worthy.

After going to Washington Heights for years, and growing up in Brooklyn… hearing this spot coming to South Florida. I could barely hold my excitement. I finally made the trip here. As it has a modern flair to the classic restaurant, the roots are the same. Unfortunately, that’s where it stops. My chicken was room temp at best, and has so much potential! The fresh fries were good, but let’s face it… we are here for the pollo. My wife was also disappointed, as she got cold chicken as well. On to finding another fried chicken spot, closer to home and cooked to order. Stick to the one uptown in the city.

It is just so good! I love that it is at the early stages of growth because it feels special, like my secret mouthwatering chicken for Extremely Cheap spot. The owners are very nice. You can tell he values customer service, guess that’s what it takes to be in business for 40 years in New York.

I hate how badly I had to take care of this hankering for deep-fried yucca fries that I had, here, at the beginning of this year. This sinful version of the fry with that oh so delicious garlic mojo, oy! The fry and dip is probably of the frozen/pre-packaged variety, but it must’ve been the first-time-to-ever-try-yucca-fries-and-fall-in-love-phenomenon that brought me back, and evoke nostalgia. Compared to the last time I lunched in with a work crowd, the atmosphere has changed. It’s evolved from something like a humble beginnings of a business owner promoting his business and handing out fliers to being a far possibility down the list of «good drunk food joint.» Caporal’s alter ego stepped out tonight with ear-busting, static-y hip hop music. Pros The food hits the spot. Cons There was no one to greet me for a couple minutes, and the music was so loud there was no point in yelling. It didn’t bother me that the girl taking my order wasn’t enthusiastic, because, well, she was unapologetically herself or the fact that it takes about fifteen minutes to prepare the grilled chicken. I’m just glad she had the courtesy to let me know. There was also no hand soap in the bathroom. Now I’m being nit-picky. These are not harsh negatives; it’s just an expectation and the charm of a place that is low key and doesn’t care. TIP Do yourself a favor and type in «Laroc Plaza» on your gps! It was impossible to locate for me.

Went on Sunday and had the chicken wings and waffles! Super delicious. The waffle comes with syrup and chocolate and strawberry crème butters. The place is really cute and clean and updated since most of the pics of here. The menu is now on TV monitors. The owner greeted us and even gave us the remote for the Apple TV. Great service, delicious food and good price. Most definitely recommend

Decided to stop in after a trip to the everglades and boy was I surprised. We found this place on a whim and I’m glad we did. I got chicken and waffles with a side of yucca fries. It was A+ and I can’t wait to come back! It’s a mama and papa place; I support local businesses 100%.

Caporal Chicken… I had heard about it through the Weekly Unilocal and decided to check it out since I was in the area. Walked in through the door and was already at the menu board. I was surprised to see how small the dining area was but quickly realized their focus was on express/takeout services. Luckily the restaurant wasn’t too busy, so seating was not an issue for my group. I would have liked to have seen a larger variety in the menu. I knew to expect fried chicken & waffles(as that combo was highly rated on the Weekly Unilocal blog), but if that’s not what you’re looking for, there really isn’t much else. Fried fish & shrimp, french fries, and a generic grilled chicken sandwich seemed to be the only alternatives. I am SURE the chicken & waffles here are delicious, but unfortunately the folks in my party weren’t interested in that(so wrong choice of venue on my part). The fried chicken was okay but ferociously greasy. Serving these things on waffles is like serving a heart attack on a plate. The food seemed to take FOREVER to come out, considering we were the only customers in the restaurant at that time, but the cashier graciously alerted us that the grilled chicken had to be made-to-order. My family seemed to really enjoy that sandwich: so kudos to Caporal! The fries were pretty stellar as well. Will edit my review after coming back here sometime to get a taste o’ those chicken & waffles.

After driving by this place many times, i finally decided to give it a try. its a fast casual fried chicken place tucked in a shopping center on 147th and 8st. As soon as I walk in, the owner greeted me and offered me a free sample of their fried chicken, I was really blown away with the great service and very welcoming feeling. It really shows the confidence they have in their product, that they don’t mind letting you try it before you order. I was really blown away with it, the owner explained to me that its all fresh, nothing is ever frozen, made with a secret recipe, and i completely believe it! Yes it is a bit greasy, but your eating fried chicken! Thats like going to five guys and complaining about their greasy fries. Its absolutely delicious, I definitely recommend this spot!

Caporal serves the best fried chicken in the world. This place was a staple in the Washington heights community for 40 years and is now available in South Florida. This fried chicken is as addictive as good sex! The flavor goes straight to your brain. No wonder people in the know call them Crack Boxes. Their«Snack Box» is a great introduction to their offerings. Try it once and you will find yourself making excuses to go and get more. If you’ve never had Caporals Fried Chicken you’ve never had good fried chicken.(No exaggerations where made in the previous sentence.). If you say Omar sent you they will add 5% to your bill, worst coupon ever.

Back in the day(and I mean, many mango seasons ago), there was a little chicken place in Washington Heights(…if you don’t know where that is, you need to get out more!) They would sell you a snack box with three pieces of fried chicken and a roll for $ 1.50 — the snack box became so popular that the lines would go out the door and around the corner. One day it was close to closing and the lines were still very long. Vincent, the owner, decided to stay open so he wouldn’t disappoint all of those people still waiting. From that day on, they were open 24 hours a day… and the lines kept getting longer. Caporal Chicken was an institution in Washington Heights(New York City) for over forty years. After a successful run, Vincent and family decided to make a go of it here in South Florida. Lucky for me, they picked West-Tami Kendall to open up shop and start serving that famous snack box(deliciously priced at $ 5.00). As a fried chicken aficionado, I can honestly tell you, you haven’t had fried chicken until you’ve tasted Caporal Chicken. Nestled into a shopping plaza on 147th avenue and SW8th Street, this small shop is serving out fried chicken 24 hours a day. You read right… Twenty-Four Hours every day. The chicken is perfectly marinated, battered, and fried in a way that leaves you wanting more. The menu is simply priced and the best part is ALLPRICESINCLUDETAXES! Take it from the guy that ordered a Chicken and Waffles at 3:00 am on a Saturday then came back an hour later with friends to order more fried chicken to go. It was absolutely heavenly. The waffles are made to order from a old style waffle maker, the batter is one hundred percent homemade. Nothing frozen here. The shop is small, a few inside tables and outside seating is available as well. It is clean, and reminds me of those small diners that had character back in the day. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and ready to help you walk away full and satisfied. Most patrons order the food to go which is packed in simple white boxes and paper bags. No frills here, but plenty of delicious flavor! Whether you’re looking to feed your family something simple and quick or coming off that late party or club, you’ll find the doors open and the chicken frying. Caporal Chicken is already creating buzz in the neighborhood and have been visited by local celebrity foodies and bloggers and in this short time, I have become a raving fan. So next time you’re hankering for that late night snack, take a drive a little further west on Tamiami Trail and come to my neighborhood. Caporal Chicken will be waiting for you… Remember, this chicken is: «SABROSITOHASTAELHUESITO» Tip: They fry the chicken in small batches to maintain freshness. So sit down, watch some TV, check-in on Unilocal,Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Tell all your friends about it while you wait for your order. But, don’t be surprised when they show up!
