These dogs were amazing! So long, Doggi Style, you’ll be missed.

I’ve been hearing about this place a lot so I was really excited to finally get to try it out. The place is small and being a first timer, I’ll admit a little difficult to find but totally worth the search. People who are not directionally impaired shouldn’t have any trouble finding it. Once you’re inside, the atmosphere is fun and inviting. There are really funny quotes and jokes on the counter to entertain you while you wait for your order and pass off to your friends as your own clever quips. Now let’s get down to business. Even having only been here once, I can tell the food is great. I had a parrillita with chicken and guasacaca sauce which was excellent. It’s layers of yuca and chicken with your choice of sauce. The portion was enough to fill me up but I couldn’t leave without trying one of the hot dogs. I tried the sabrett dog, chingon style. I did have to fight the urge to giggle reading off the menu but it was worth the effort. The food was prepared and served quickly which I really appreciated and the service was friendly. My only qualm was that the hot dogs are not the giant dogs I’ve come to expect at hot dog places so if you’re going to have a dog, order two different ones for variety or order a side. Also, bring cash. They have square to accept cards but not everybody working there uses it.

Pretty cool place to grab a good tasting dog. I hadn’t previously tried a Venezuelan hot dog and was amused by the menu item names and by the sex themed quotes on the counter top. I wanted to try the Frankfurter but they ran out that day. I’m not upset about it because what I tried instead was great! I had the Chingon! A Sabrett 100% beef frank, bacon wrapped and served mexican style with almost every sauce available. Had it with a side of sweet potato fries and it was quite a daunting task to find the sauce that paired with them. They’re cut fresh so they don’t taste the same as other places. The winner was the Schlöter mustard. Come to think of it, everything here is made to order. My chingon dog came with pico de gallo on top and I remember that they put the ingredients in a food processor to make it on the spot. I can’t say these are the best dogs in Miami but definitely enjoyable with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. My wife’s meal was much better than mine. She had a Parillata and I was jealous the whole time. I’ll try that next time. Note: cash is king. You can pay with a card but only with one of the employees. She does it via her mobile phone so if she steps out, you have to wait for her return to pay. Almost happened to me but luckily(and uncharacteristically) I had cash in my wallet. Hooray for hot dogs!

You do not find too many hot dog restaurants for a reason I’m afraid. Go out and support this place, it is awesome! The owner started out with a hotdog cart and has taken over a former Latin Café in West Miami to add this gem of a place. The only downfall is she does not have an alcohol license. I think beer would help her stay profitable and in business. BYOB only. The sauce selection alone is reason to go. But the Chignon and asquerocito are the must tries. I will go back to try her non-hotdog offerings, Parrillita is next. Hoping to make this place a regular local stop! The owner is very sweet and welcoming and will readily help you make a decision on your selection.

My best friend and I were totally blown away by the deliciousness served by this little gem. We were bored and wanted something different for lunch, so we Unilocaled the location due to its proximity to my house. Upon walking in, we were a little taken aback by the various options listed and disappointed that we were not able to consume larger quantities of food because it all sounded amazing. The staff is extremely warm and welcoming, the patrons were even fun and inviting, and as suspected, the food — which was cooked to order — was delicious. The staff is so great that they even knew we were sharing our meals and automatically cut them for us! The sauces they have are magnificent and worthy of being used on ANYTHING. Definitely will be going again until we’ve exhausted all menu options! and even then, we’ll start all over again! :)

After reading about this place in the new times about their sauces, definitely became a bookmark to check out. Cozy little place, Laura is very welcoming and great to talk to about the menu and just anything. Had the Parrillita(yuca, steak, salad, tomato, potato sticks, and sauces… very good. If it was a bit bigger portion, but that’s because I’m a big eater. Will definitely frequent more often.

I’m more than proud to give this establishment it’s first double-digit review! And even more proud to give it the honorable 5-stars! Because frankly, there was nothing to not love: + Friendly service(as always, from the lovely Laura who runs the place and hails from Valencia, Venezuela) + Fresh beef(none of the frozen patties stuff going on the grill) makes for amazing burgers + Fresh-cut, house-cut french fries + Sauces-galore for your own picking(at least 9 different sauces) Yes, this place is already known for being award-worthy for their hot dog(asquerocito«messed-up» dog) and chicken sandwich(full load version includes bacon, avocado, and fried egg on top of what comes with the standard — cheese, ham, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, sauces, and of course, the hamburger itself). But really, you can’t go wrong with anything in the menu. The large fast-food menu to also include parrillas, pepitos(french-bread-based fast food), salads, choripan, and hot dogs of various types(vegetarian, bratswurst, Sabrett, regular) and various styles(Venezuelan, Mexican, Chicago, Chili, and Frankfurter). There’s also offer desserts and batidos — ask what they have. Also, congratulations are in order as it has become a brick-and-mortar establishment — it’s looking good! Regrettably, I am not the kind of person who goes out of the way for fast food, but if I was, then I’d be here every single day(wallet-permitting)! Regardless, I will be returning soon.

Doggi Style is a little luncheonette located just north of Coral Way on Ludlam Road literally across the street from the city of West Miami. The owners Andres and Laura are from Venezuela and the business specializes in Venezuelan-style street food such as hot dogs, burgers, chorizo sausage on rolls(choripan), chicken breast or steak sandwiches(«Pepitos») and Parrillitas(«bowls»). The«Doggi Style» name was originally on their hot dog cart, and the variety and complexity of the hot dog menu shows their long history of making them. Your«hot dog» can be a Mutt(a beef, pork and turkey mongrel), a pure-bred Sabrett all-beef NY-style, a veggie dog or a German-style bratwurst sausage. Then there are five suggested styles of preparation: Asquericito — The house Venezuelan-style specialty — ketchup, mayo, mustard, onions, «salad,» corn and potato sticks. Salad in this case means finely minced cabbage, celery, carrots and parsley. Sort of like a cole slaw, but with no vinegar or mayo. Chingon! — Mexican style, wrapped in bacon and covered with pico de gallo(chopped peppers, tomatos, onions and cilantro) and grilled onions and peppers. The other three are fairly typical American regional styles — Chili Dog(Cincinnati), Chicago, and«Frankfurter» with sauerkraut, onions and relish. I had the Asquericito(which the owners told me translates roughly as «mixed up») with a Sabrett. When it was served, Laura put a basket with about NINE sauces in front of me. I asked how a Venezuelan would have it, and she pulled out more sauces and put them on top! I think she added garlic, cheese and pink sauce. It was great! The competing textures and sauces made for a messy, fun explosion of flavor. The Choripan and the Pepitos are served on a crusty, Italian-style roll. I had a Choripan, which is a big grilled chorizo sausage served with guasacaca and garlic sauces topped with potato sticks. I’m not sure whose idea it was, but I also had cheese sauce, pink sauce, mustard and ketchup.(hey, when in Caracas…) It was a winner, too. The Pepitos are either grilled chicken breast, or grilled steak. They come with lettuce, tomato, «salad» and garlic and guasacaca sauces. I had the chicken version one day when the owners were not there. I think the cook was telling me that they were out of canned potato sticks, and she fried up some miniature french-fries made from fresh potatos. This was an excellent sandwich too, but I’d like to try varying the sauces next time. Also offered is a sort of «bowl» which is more or less the Pepito served on top of layers of yuca, instead of a roll. I can’t emphasize enough how nice the owners are. All the food is made to order, so if it needs cooking from raw, you’re going to have to wait. You can always occupy your time reading dozens and dozens of witticisms laminated into the countertop, some of which are pretty funny. I’ve been five times, and plan to return. I’d be there today, except they’re closed on Sunday. :-( On another visit, I had the Chingon! I put the chipotle sauce on it, and it was pretty good. When I got a burger, I got it «Fully Loaded» which means with bacon, egg and avacado added to the already crowded bun that comes with ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatos, onions, corn and potato sticks. It was great, but I don’t remember which sauces we went with. They also offer a Veggie burger patty for this sandwich, as well as a grilled chicken breast version. I had the«chicken sandwich» version fully loaded. I told Chef Andres to go town with it, and he put a multitude of sauces on it. It ended up very wet! Another hit. I think this is the sandwich that New Times awarded«Best Chicken Sandwich» to.

Doggi Style «Party in your mouth» Not as inappropriate as you’d think. They serve veggie dogs courtesy of SmartDogs for $ 3.50. Dogs are topped with a chopped salad and shoestring fries. An assortment of flavored sauces to finish off with. Try the pink special sauce. Like your ordinary hotdog cart but with a twist.

After a long day of running around town in search of fancy pants beers for my first UYE, I decided to stop by Doggi Style. A friend had bookmarked it on his Unilocal and since I am a hot dog fan I wanted to make the special trip to 57th and Coral way. Doggi Style is located on the premises of the Weststar Gas Station which was fine, except for the parking. It was a crowded afternoon and I was lucky to find parking near the Car Wash on the opposite side of the Hot Dog Umbrella. It is a cart located around the bend from the door of the Weststar. The hot dog lady, Laura had just arrived. Apparently she’s open for business from 4−11pm Monday through Friday. On Saturdays she stays until the last customer leaves. She mentioned that this past weekend she was there until 2 am hanging out with some friends. She is very sweet and talkative. She asked me my name and like many others in this world mispronounced it even after I gave her two options of how to say it: 1: The anglophone version Easlynn 2: the Spanish version Geesleen. I informed her of my love affair with hot dogs and how excited I was to be trying hers. She told me that she tops her dogs with a Venezuelan salad. I immediately expressed my disdain for salads as I explained that to me, lettuce tastes like chlorophyll. I don’t know why but I can taste the greenness. It kinda makes me gag :( She stated that it was different than any salad I’ve ever had. I was on the phone with a friend who stated that I should have it the way she makes it and stop being such a baby. I agreed to have my hot dog«her way» which included the Venezuelan salad, onions and potato sticks. I did add garlic and chili mayo and pineapple sauce. If fireworks were made up of flavours and exploded in your mouth(minus burn) this is what the hot dog would taste like. It was so good I immediately started texting people to brag about how delicious it was. It was sweet, spicy, crunchy, meaty, yummy. I was so enamoured by the amalgam of flavours that I decided to order a chicken sandwich as well. This chick-sand also had bacon, ham and cheese. Work it up Laura! Laura was very attentive and offered me an authentic Venezuelan soda called Fress Kolita. It is a strawberry flavoured drink and it not to my liking. I heard every country has a red soda of sorts, I guess ours(in America) is Kool Aid. From what I gather everything at this cart is frozen and purchased from what I can ascertain is a GFS or a Costco or whatevs but the real gem is the homemade sauces and the Venezuelan salad. The salad contains cabbage, onions, cilantro and fairy dust(well, as far as I’m concerned). The chicken sandwich was a detonation of the same caliber. I also added a traditional Venezuelan sauce called Guasacaca which is an avocado salsa. It was very tasty and since I have an utter dislike for avocados(once again the chlorophyll argument) it was quite a big ordeal for me. I didn’t try the parillas, or pepitos or whatever else she has going on at that cart. What Laura has going on is fast, tasty, inexpensive street food bursting with flavours that even a persnickety eater like me can appreciate. Laura, I’ll bring the cash, you bring the Doggi Style. A big shout out to the guy at the adjacent car wash who«watched’ my car. He, apparently(according to his own account) saved my car from being towed. Gracias Señor.

I know someone who humps the air whenever he eats something he thinks is utterly delicious. Sure, it’s kind of crass but when you’re talking about a hot dog stand called Doggi Style, I’d think an act like that is pretty complimentary. So, I should’ve brought him(and my camera for that precise moment of hilarious taste bud bliss) last Saturday when I hit up this brand new discovery. Located in the corner of Westar Gas Station on Coral Way and Red Rd. this clean, little hot dog stand is ran by Laura — a spunky Venezuelan with a good sense of humor(Me: «So, why’d you decide to leave Venezuela?» Laura: «Uh, ever heard of Huge Chavez?») and a talent for making some damn tasty street food like hot dogs, choripanes, pepitos, and parrillas all done up Venezuelan style. My boyfriend and I however, were totally sold on her burgers that can be made with either a beef patty or a chicken breast topped with ham, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, corn, and potato sticks. AND if you want it fully loaded(which we both did, really badly) she adds a fried egg, bacon, and avocado. OHMY… it was spectacular. I had and chicken and *would’ve* tried the regular beef burger if my boyfriend hadn’t inhaled it in under 3 seconds. She also has a bunch of homemade sauces — garlic, spicy mayo, and my personal fave, pineapple — to smother all over those suckers. Best part is that you don’t feel like grease is seeping out of your pours afterwards. We came on a really nice, cool, windy night and besides a very friendly family of Venezuelan regulars, we had the whole area to ourselves — which is basically two little mosaic tables… and a tree. So, our experience was really pleasant. I could see it being less magical if it were a hot, humid day and there was some kind of rush. Everything’s made to order, and she uses somewhat of a hot plate, so it takes a little while for your food to be cooked(hey, it’s fresh!). If it were crowded I can see waiting quite a while for food. But, it’s kind of worth it. Definitely planning to come back soon and sampling some other treats. Definitely a fan!
