FRESHFRESHFRESH!!! Did I mention fresh! Not only is it a seafood market but also Restaurant/Bar. All shrimp dishes are on point big plump shrimp excellently cooked, the conch fritters are big and flavorful and the fried Mahi Mahi is awesome very delicate breading lets the fish shine through. Also great assortment of beers that pair well with the fresh seafood. Great for lunch or dinner and to grab the catches of the day to take home.

It one of my best local seafood market. They have about anything you want to cook. Also they opened a small lunch place inside.

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch and we thought it was a cool place. Our server, Brittany(spelling?) was very nice. We started with ½ dozen oyster appetizers($ 12.49), which we enjoyed. I ordered the fried conch basket($ 10.99) and it was good. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta($ 11.49), which I thought was bland and tasteless, but he enjoyed it. I think we will go back and try this place again.

When I first walked in, I almost did a 180 turn and ran for the door. I was slapped in the face by an intense fish smell. See, the store front is a fresh seafood market where you can pick up THEFRESHEST seafood. We were taken to the back(the restaurant), where oddly enough, the smell ceased to exist. I loved everything. The ambiance was so laid back. You could go then in jean shorts, it felt very casual. The wait staff was friendly and pleasant(probably one of the best I’ve experienced). I went with a party of four –all newbies. Between us we tried mahi pasta, a fish sandwich, oysters, beer, even desert. Everything was above expectation. We will definitely be coming back here.

This is best place In cutler bay. Best restaurant I have been to in soooooo long… Years. Their fish is so fresh and delicious! You have to go! Won’t be disappointed. I really recommend the blackened salmon, it’s full of flavor, and no fishy taste! Don’t miss out

We decided to try the kitchen here on Friday evening. There were empty tables but we had to wait about 10 minutes then we were seated by the door. Our waitress was initially pretty efficient. The fish spread appetizer was a very good plate at a good price. The blackened salmon dish was disappointing. 2 thin fillets had a good rub but were very thin and well done. The mashed potatoes are not made in house and our waitress did not know of the ingredients so we opted for the sweet potato fries for an up charge of $ 2.00 which were black. The steamed broccoli and cauliflower had no seasoning and were topped with sauteed red onions. After waiting a few minutes for our stone crab dinner, we started eating the salmon while trying to flag our waitress for the other meal. Halfway through the hot meal we caught our waitress to deliver the stone crabs. We did not see our waitress again until we flagged her for the check.

We had the lobster quesadilla as an appetizer, it was delicious. She had the lemon butter snapper with crisp green vegetables and a purée of sweet potato. I enjoyed the shrimp and scallops on fettuccine. It was very tasty and the right portions. We will come back and try the other delicious items we saw on the menu.

Visiting Pam and Walter for the«Deering Estate Seafood Festival». We stopped by the«Golden Rule Seafood Market» and now RESTAURANT to taste some real seafood! Born and raised in Miami we always purchased our Seafood from the«Golden Rule». Our family moved to Port Orange Fl. In 08′. We miss our friends and especially our Saturday ritual of stopping by the Golden Rule Seafood Market! We move and now they have expanded into a RESTAURANT! The FOOD was AMAZING! The SERVICE was AMAZING! The AMBIENCE was AMAZING! If you like GREATSEAFOOD give the GOLDENRULE seafood market a try! It’s FANTASTIC!

Let me start this review by saying that we have never dined at the restaurant. This review is exclusively for the market. Golden rule has figured out a recipe for success in the fishmarket. It is clean and well organized stocked with an amazing selection of fish and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. We typically make the drive down for sushi grade salmon which isn’t much more expensive than what you buy at the local grocery store. There’s an assortment of condiments and spices and seasonings consistent with preparing fish. They even have a small section of wine and beer. And for those choosing to make their own sushi they stock sushi supplies as well. The place doesn’t smell fishy. I’m not sure how they figured that out but it’s definitely a pleasure to shop there. If you need some fresh fish or stone crabs make the drive down, they’ve got plenty.

This family run business has been here for years and once checking out all the freshness inside it’s not hard to figure out why. The variety of seafood is abundant. They always have what’s in season for great prices and even give tips for recipes and sell a variety of seasonings. They also have a little restaurant for dining in as an option. When you sign up for emails they also send you the specials for every Tuesday. We’ve bought oysters and conch from here and have always left satisfied. When ordering the conch I suggest you get it tenderized and they’ll ask you what your making to get it at the right texture for your dish. Feel free to look around for some cool things to buy to. Not only is there seasonings and pots and pans and cool recipe ideas but they also have vintage sign and things and even an old boat that usually has live blue crabs. It’s just a very reliable place to get fresh good seafood and friendly smiles.

My husband and I went for lunch and thought that the food was very good and the overall experience was ok. The décor reminded me of an old Flanigans. The waitresses were friendly but I was surprised to see that they were wearing super tiny shorts because this is a family type restaurant(I guess). This was our first time here so I am not sure of this is the normal«waitress» attire. I would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant, and we will return.

First time visiting; overall a good experience, but I think they could do better based on recent reviews. The good: Plenty of parking and location. We ordered the whole fried snapper($ 24.99) with garlic mashed potato and the shrimp & scallops pasta($ 11.49). The snapper was well cooked & had a great presentation. The pasta was outstanding and the garlic mashed potato was simply the best I had ever tried in my life. The service was really good, great job Brittany! The bad: The overwhelming smell of fish/seafood when first enter the restaurant could be a bit of a turn off. It is so overwhelming that I thought about living and not ordering anything to eat there. I realize the place is a fish market besides a restaurant, but they could do better at eliminating the odor because at times it truly smell like rotten fish. My whole fried red snapper could have been better; I was hopping for a bit more flavor, especially if they are charging $ 25 for it. Again, It wasn’t bad, but adding perhaps more seasoning to it could do wonders to this dish. Highlights: Overall a good experience, superb service, add a bit more flavor-kick to the food and this place could turn into a jewel. I’ll be back, there is potential here.

Golden Rule Seafood was just a-ok. Three stars. I read many reviews before visiting and I anticipated buying at least a week’s worth of seafood, mainly fish as well as some shrimp if possible. When I arrived the glass display case was not impressive. There wasn’t much variety, which was okay had the fish been properly labeled. Instead, There was a huge haphazard stack of fish to the right side of the case. There were no tags indicating what the fish were or how much they cost. I love shrimp, but I could not bring myself to buying them here because they were in a goopy looking pile. Overall, there was not much care in presenting the seafood for customers. The glass was cloudy and the general look gave an impression that the case might not be cleaned as often as it should. I hope they look to Whole Foods and even Winn Dixie or Publix seafood sections for inspiration in the future. To be fair, the vegetable section was nicely displayed. The onions are peeled more than normal. The citrus fruits, lemons and limes, were plump and shiny. Again, there were no signs or price tags. We purchased the famed smoked fish dip $ 7.99 for an 8 oz tub. It was alright. It wasn’t any more tasty or special than other dips I’ve gotten in those big cheese and sausage gift baskets. After perusing all of the seafood, dry goods, vegetables, and cold cases we resigned to trying the restaurant because we had driven all the way down south for Golden Rule. The fried mahi mahi basket $ 10.29 was okay. Some pieces of the mahi mahi were smaller than others and were super overcooked and dried out. The fried conch basket $ 10.69 as alright. We enjoyed trying the different hot sauces on the table. The fries were pale and basic. The server was very friendly. I was hoping to find a new seafood market to frequent, but I will continue my search.

Great seafood market to buy fresh seafood to go and also has a cozy restaurant serving dinner/lunch. I disagree with the reviewer describing it as a greasy dumpy joint. Oysters, mahi, snapper, shrimp, etc,. are amazingly fresh. The stone crabs are delicious and make sure to buy some for takeout. Service is good. Be aware that they start serving lunch at 11am as the market section opens 10am.

Just wanted to update my review as I recently returned to dine in for lunch. My other review still stands – go here and buy your seafood creatures from a real live fishmonger for a decent price and a great experience. However, now we’re diving into the restaurant… Appetizers, Sandwiches and Entrees galore. The kitchen will sub out and switch fish types for your sandwich or basket, no problem, and they usually have a catch of the day. Wine and beer menus(see pictures) are remarkably not bad, though nothing illuminating. Overall, the food is delicious, portions generous, and the price and service are right. Probably not date night material, but Golden Rule’s café has a delightful divey(get it?) vibe that’s just right for a casual lunch or a serious stone crab-beer extravaganza. Take note: You are eating fish inside a fish shop. This place is spectacularly clean, but there are aromas associated with dead marine creatures that are inescapable. If that sort of thing isn’t for you, well, don’t let me catch you 2-starring this lovely little joint because of your sensitive schnoz and lack of common sense. These people don’t deserve that – and you probably don’t deserve these people, or their fish!

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn’t the greasy, dumpy joint that the menu/location may imply. It’s been around since 1943 as a market so I expected the restaurant to be a bit rough around the edges boasting a shabby, eclectic atmosphere. While it definitely did have that kind of feel in there, the décor had just the right amount of quirkiness to grab my attention but not overwhelm and take away from the awesome food! Now: the food! We had calamari, the tuna wontons, shrimp/oyster poboy and stone crab. Everything was very fresh and thoughtfully crafted. The calamari had a Thai sweet chili style dipping sauce which was different from the usual spicy marinara that I’m used to. the tuna wontons were asian inspired as well with heaps of fresh raw tuna, spicy mayo, and garnished with seaweed. The poboy and stone crab legs were served more traditionally, though I did find the sweet potato fries on the poboy to be an interesting touch! Personal preference here: I was not a huge fan of the sweet Thai chili sauce for the calamari, nor did I particularly like the tuna wontons but that’s mostly because I was not digging the Asian flavors(and I have a feeling it’s because I wasn’t expecting it to be that way in such a restaurant and simply not in the mood for Asian food) with that being said, it was all super fresh, perfectly cooked, and we were given overly generous portions of each! Finally, dessert — banana cheesecake wrapped in fried wonton wrappers — the perfect finish and super unique! Not super sweet but a good balance of texture between the rich and creamy banana cheesecake with the crispy dough it was wrapped in! Overall, great meal, not overpriced, and despite not LOVING some of the flavors of our appetizers, the fish and seafood were insanely fresh and the menu was original and authentic! We will be back… I must try their lobster Mac and cheese!

The Golden Rule Seafood store has been in business since 1943. The restaurant is fairly new and they have applied the same great service and quality as the fish market. The décor is old Florida; crab traps, old nets etc,. the food is astounding. I had the pasta with scallops and shrimp. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the pasta sauce did not over power the seafood. I have never cared for fish tacos but I tried my wife’s on her recommendation. Incredible! I ordered them on our next trip there. You can get everything you need for seafood prep in the market from Cajun to deep frying. But you can’t miss dining there either.

The moment I opened the door I knew this spot was different from any sea food place I’ve been to. I continued to walk straight ahead and I couldn’t believe a spot like this exist in Miami unlike Seattle. The seafood looks very fresh and very affordable. If you think is to expensive I will pay the difference. The restaurant would be on your immediate left once you open the door. The food was superb. The customer service was excellent. Will definitely come back for more. This is truly a 5 star place. I can see how they’ve been in business since 1943.
