Audrey Hepburn brought the LBD or little black dress to iconic levels in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And I knew that for my birthday party at The Florida Room only a Holly Golightly frock would do. A full week of work left no time for shopping and so on my birthday just a few short hours before my party I set out to find my dress. I first tried my stand-by Unika but to no avail. While I ran through the options in my mind, the always sweet sales girl mentioned Isabel Riera. I’d never been before but when faced with a dilemma I’m open to suggestion. Who has time for a case of the Mean Reds anyways? I walked in thinking I’d probably walk out just as soon but I made a beeline for the black. The shop girl pulled out one dress: no, a second dress: no, and third time was the charm. Voila le noir knockout: one shouldered, A-line meets full skirt, black rose beauty. I tried it on and then noticed a simple pair of black and gold earrings. I was sold. Dress: check Accesories: check I’m going back to Isabel Riera soon to look for more dresses. This might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship, a Huckleberry friend.
