Great food with great atmosphere. I ordered the grilled churassco steak cooked medium well. It came with rice and beans and plantains. The plantains weren’t how I expected, but they were still good. I’m very happy with my experience.

I loved the mofongo! Was invited by a local friend and I decided to give it a try. It was great! Loved the mofongo, the environment. The chimichurri was a bit tart for me but the churrasco was good. Definitely would recommend.

I use to luv getting delivery from here; but then they decided to outsource their take-out order taking, & delivery to some crap on-line only company, that wants $ 16 to deliver food 2-miles plus an additional 9% service charge. Congrat’s Jimmy you’ve lost another customer. Can’t wait to see you fold for your lack of customer service, & piss poor decision making.

I had Jimmy’z Kitchen on my bookmarks list for quite some time now. Even though it’s located less than 2 miles from my home, I always seemed to find one reason or another to pass on it. I should have trusted my instincts because i was pretty disappointed with my visit. After going through some of the reviews it seems as though your Jimmy’z experience can be pretty hit or miss. The Good: 1. Service was quick and the gentleman behind the counter happily helped us through the menu. 2. The Blackened Chicken Panini was our favorite part of the experience. The panini bread was nice and crusty and the chicken was well seasoned though a bit cool. It was the favorite part of the meal. 3. UM Students get 20% off. 4. The portion of Mofongo can easily serve 4 people as an appetizer. The Bad: 1. The Steak Sandwich which came with filet mignon, was a huge disappointment. The meat was cool and underseasoned and I enjoyed the potato chips that came on the side more. In fact I wish the dish came with more potato chips. This may sound harsh, but it had the appearance of something you might find in a gas station. 2. We ordered three items and the bill was $ 43, in my opinion the menu prices are a little over inflated considering the quality of the meal. 3. The mofongo was on the salty side and came with too much mojo sauce which made the lower layers of mofongo soggy. I still ate it, but I think it’s because I wasn’t really satisfied with my sandwich. 4. Though our food was served in a reasonable time, everything felt like it hadn’t been heated long enough or just left out too long before serving. 5. Not a big deal but the parking can be a little worrisome, the spaces are setup diagonally just off of US-1 and the cars come in to the lot pretty quickly, I ended up moving my car after parking because I was afraid of getting hit in the rear.

We stopped by last night for dinner. If you’re coming from the south, you have to turn in at the median otherwise you’ll miss it and have to drive on US1 to turn around(like we did). There are about 15 parking spots for this restaurant but I think there is gated access from the perimeter road underneath the metrorail. It was empty inside but they had a constant flow of pick up and delivery orders. The tables are fairly clean with over sized plastic chairs. We had the chicken mofongo; seared tuna with tomato and avocado salad and jasmine rice. The chicken was a good portion of white meat chunks with onions and a few red peppers in a mild creole sauce. The monfongo was a huge mound and very flavorful. The tuna was a large portion with a nice sear. The jasmine rice was cooked well with the fresh tomato and avocado salad. The soy ginger sauce tasted more like a vinaigrette but was good with the tuna. They had a few shelves of beers and soda but only a Moscato wine. Overall, it was well cooked, flavorful, fresh and reasonable priced for very casual dining. Would definitely go back.

This is a casual take-out place that definitely warrants dropping by if you’re in the area, with meals in the $ 13-$ 16 dollar range for a hearty serving that’s bursting with flavor. Various types of mofongo available, as well as other dishes served over rice if you’re not into that. I tried some portabella chicken with a achiote red sauce, and have also had their mojo roast pork. The main component here is that they don’t skimp on the flavor. To pick up lunch or dinner, this is a winner. The staff is friendly, and I was happy to see that none of what I ordered was swimming in grease.

This was an awesome place to stumble across. If you’re looking for authentic tasting fresh food come here. I travel all too much and find myself usually just ok with places. I felt as though I was in another country when I took my first few bites. I will be back this week to try their menu out again! **** Unilocal won’t allow me to post another review. Which I can understand so I will just Addendum here. Tonight I went back and tried their Mofongo(Pork) this meal made me feel like a child again. I was not only pleased with the food«as expected» but Jenny and Marcel made me feel like I’ve known them for years. I felt so comfortable being there. Jenny recognized me from the other day and said ohh! Your back to try that Monfongo! Awesome to feel so welcomed again. They both invited me back to try their Ahi Special. Sold! I will be back to once again please save my seat!

One of my favorite spots for casual dining. We typically get take out, but sometimes we’ll eat in, as well. The mojo pork is our absolute favorite. I’ve tried many things on the menu, but my heart always asks for the mojo pork. And the sautéed veggies are next level delicious. I highly recommend this truly Miami spot.

This review is long overdue! I used to frequent Jimmy’z Wynwood and as a South Miami resident I excited when the Pinecrest location opened, thank you Jimmy! Whether your trying to eat health or want to fill up, Jimmy’z has what you need. First the service. Service plays a huge factor on places that I frequent. At Jimmy’z the staff is super courteous. You know your a regular when the staff knows not only what you like but how you like it. Nicholas always makes sure we come in happy and we leave happy. Jimmy’z menu has something for everyone. Some of my healthy favorites are, The Hummus appetizer, The Fajita salad, The Jerk Chicken salad and the Nicoise salad. If you really hungry and a salad wont cut it, start with the bollitas de queso… delicious. My entrée favorites include the Bone-in Rib-eye the Churrasco and any of the Mofongos, depending on what you in the mood for. They also have a good sandwich selection, the tripleta is my favorite. For dessert Jimmy’z also has a great flan selection and these brownies and cookies that are to die for. My favorites are the blondies, the chocolate sea salt cookie and the chocolate chip coconut cookie.

I’m a big fan of mofongo, so I enjoy the convenience of Jimmy’z Kitchen being close by. I’ve been here a few times now so I can definitely say this is a solid place to check out. It’s a small place where you walk up to the counter to order, and your food is brought out to you. The place itself is not the cleanest or nicest. It’s ok. The service is friendly, but can be slow. I’ve had the mofongo with chicken and churrasco. The food is good, but not the most authentic or mind-blowing. The best way to check this place out is with a groupon, this way you save yourself a few dollars as you get your fix for Caribbean food.

Looking for a quick bite to eat after a long day at work I don’t want to encounter any crowds so we stumbled across this place which happened to be empty, just how I like it. I was hoping that the emptiness of the restaurant wasn’t an indication of how bad the food was, but rather just perhaps a «hidden gem». The service and friendliness was through the roof! I mean literally it was very uncharacteristic of South Florida hospitality. Tony was very professional and extremely accommodating. I went with the Beef Stew Mofongo which was pretty much missing the beef! A few pieces of beef here and there but if I told you I found 4 pieces of beef I’d be exaggerating. She ordered the Churrasco Mofongo which was good, but nothing special. Their prices are pretty high for«puerto rican» food and it’s not table service. We also ordered the Bread Pudding which was horrible! However I must admit Tony noticed that we did not finish it and immediately offered us something else and reminded us that if we ever didn’t like something he would gladly replace it with something we did like. Due to Tony’s service this place gets 5 stars on customer service, but the food, along with the prices bring it down to a 3. Btw the Root Beer was really good!

I’m a big fan of their wynwood location and i expressed that on a previous Unilocal review! On my way to the Falls I saw this one and i decided to get my mofongo fix. I was Quite disappointed. we got there and there is no one there to help(see my picture) I literally had to walk into the kitchen to look for help. I ordered Bolitas de queso(a winner) & mofongo churrasco(after 20 minutes I got my food and it was wrong, i sent it back and after 10 more minutes I finally got my correct order, but it seems that they put the churrasco aside while they were Fixing the order so I have to eat a cold churrasco. Lastly there were no one cleaning the tables so we sat there chatting after our lunch in front of dirty plates for another 20 to 30 minutes(see picture) also the server disappear again and we couldn’t have coffee, we left and have a coffe at Starbucks across the street. I would give it a pass at this location and I will continue to support the wynwood one where I never been disappointed.

After reading the good reviews on Unilocal,we decided to give a try. It was nothing to brag about. We came here on a Saturday night and sat outside after we ordered our food. It wasn’t busy but it seemed to take very long for our food to come out. The cheese balls were good but took a while to come out. When we finally received our mofongos, we were not impressed. The mofongo with pork tasted as if someone poured a bottle of cheap mojo to the plate. The shrimp mofongo was a little better but nothing like a genuine mofongo criollo. I really don’t think that we’ll be coming back here.

With all the good reviews out there I figured I would give this a try even though my Puerto Rican friend had told me that it was not good. Note to self… when a Puerto Rican friend tells you a Puerto Rican restaurant is not good… stay away! Went on a Friday night. Walked up to the counter to place our order but the guy behind the counter was taking a phone order so we waited. He hung up and I thought to myself. yay we finally get to order. Nope I was wrong. He took another phone order. We waited some more. Eventually we managed to get our order in. We ordered bolitas, which are fried balls stuffed with cheese that they say is cheddar… not sure about that one, with a guava dipping sauce. We also ordered aranitas which is shredded green plantains fried up in clusters. My BF ordered a veggie paninni and I the pork mofongo… he a beer and me a glass of wine. I had a $ 30 groupon and still had to come out of pocket another $ 27.00. We sat down and waited for our food to arrive. The bolitas and aranitas arrived. The bolitas were eh ok. Nothing I would order again. The aranitas were horrible! Cold and hard. They tasted like they had cooked them hours before and had them sitting there. I told them about it but what to do? You have already paid for your food. It’s not like they can remove it from your check so I asked for another glass of wine… thinking more wine might help make the food taste better. It didn’t. My mofongo arrived. The pork was tasty… but the mofongo… horrible. I think they had made it the same time they made the aranitas. The plantains they used was fried too much I think because it was hard… I have had mofongo many times before and I have to say this was the worst I have ever had… and I paid $ 17.00 for the experience. Never again!

The good is great. When first walking in I was a bit confused. The order style of the restaurant is fast food like but the dining is more restaurant style. To order you go up to the counter and tell the cashier what you want, pay, and then get a number and the food is brought to you. The food is brought on nice plates and silver wear and is a full big meal! I got the churassco with black beans rice and tostones. All were great and the meal was very filling! This is one of my favorite meals and they made it well. My dad got a chicken and prosciutto panini. The size of the sandwich was generous as well and he said it was very good! The food was good and the service was fast. The only thing that threw me off was the fast food style ordering without the cheap price.

Really like this place. The Mofongo is so damn good! I had the shrimp mofongo last time and the portion was satisfying enough. Even had a little left over. We also tried the mussels which were pretty good and the presentation very tasteful. Lots of flavors! Tried a little bit of the beef stew which was super tasty too. My only 2 complaints are that it smells a bit funny when you first walk in. Might be the cleaning products they use… and the second is that it is a bit pricey for the type of food they serve! I think if they lowered their prices I would be there more regularly but it’s a pretty penny every time I’ve gone there. The chef was really nice and came out to ask if everything was ok which was a really nice touch! :) There’s plenty of parking but could be tricky getting out of there so be careful when pulling out.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The menu never disappoints. I have had their sandwhiches, fresh soups and salads, and everything always tastes fresh and delicious. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. My coworkers and I stop in at least twice a week and Nicholas is always there to greet us with a smile and exceptional service. Our meals always come out complete and prompt. A must try for anyone in the area.

When the bestie says shes in the mood for a panini, what do you do? You go on the hunt for a delicious panini! Duh! Upon entering this little place on the side of US-1… you’re greeted by a lot of lime green and orange décor and 3 large flat screen TVs hanging over the counter where you would place your order. The gentleman at the register was extremely helpful in assisting us as we placed our order. While standing at the counter, I observed they did carry in their cooler of beverages some yummy craft beer along with your typical assortment of beverages.(For those wondering, they had Chimay Red, White and Blue… and also quite a few Brooklyn Brewery beers) On to the food! First of all… Holy«Bolitas de Queso»!! I cant say enough good things about them! I gotta say… cooked to perfection! The appetizer brings 6 deliciously creamy, melts in your mouth, cheese balls drizzled with the most amazing guava sauce that left me nearly ready to lick the plate. They weren’t overly fried or overly battered which made them even more delightful. Before we were even done with our yummy little app, our panini’s arrived. I ordered the steak sandwich and she ordered the chicken pomodoro. These sandwiches are definitely big enough to share… so we did just that. I had half of hers and she had half of mine! The steak sandwich was absolutely out of this world! I dare say, the best I have had in years! All it was missing was those papitas that a traditional cuban place would throw on your typical«pan con bistec» to make it perfect. But honestly, the thinly sliced filet minon sandwich didnt need a damn thing added to it. Again, perfection! After eating my half of the steak sandwich, It was no surprise the chicken pomodoro panini was just as delish! The only issue we both encountered was that we felt it did have a tad too much pesto for our liking, and i’m a big pesto lover. For dessert…(because an outing with the bestie is never complete without some dessert) we shared a slice of almond cheesecake. The only way I could explain how heavenly each bite was, would be by renaming the cheesecake to «Amaretto Heaven». Never in a million years would I typically order a slice of almond cheesecake… but it was absolutely worth every calorie ingested. We did have a groupon for this amazing and filling meal. $ 18 for $ 30 worth of food. Great value! The slice of cheesecake did put us a little over the $ 30 so we dished out $ 6 at the register… Again… worth every penny and EVERY bite!!!

I’m not going to lie, I was pretty pumped when I saw a GroupOn for Jimmy’z Kitchen because I had always wanted to try it and I had been craving Mofongo since my last trip to Puerto Rico a few years ago! My hubby and I went today for lunch and although it was good and fast, I honestly don’t know what all the raving is about this place. The cashier and the runner were extremely pleasant and surprisingly, this place was packed inside for a Thursday 1PM lunch hour. We started off with the Bolitas de Queso w Guava Sauce and they were awesome! I loved it! Basically it is fried chese balls with guava sauce on top, but its AMAZING! The cheese was melted to perfection, the seasoning used was great and the guava sauce was the perfect touch to top it all off. I would have liked to have a bit more guava sauce on it, so maybe next time I’ll ask for more on the side. For lunch I ordered the churrasco mofongo and my hubby the shrimp creole plate. There was nothing special about my chrrasco monfongo. The churrasco was okay an the chimichuri would have been better if it was made from scratch with chunks of onion in it rather than a chimichuri«paste». The creole sauce was tasty and so was the mofongo, although I prefer my mofongo to be less dry and juicier with the churrasco juices and more garlic. The mofongo is nothing like the one in PR and I understand its a fusion, but it was okay. My husband said his shrimp creole was good although he said the rice was pretty bland. Also, we live in the USA, so by default everywhere should offer soda refills and not in cans. Canned soda and drinks are for«to-go» not for dinning in! Especially when you are eating salty foods, there should always be complimentary refills. I would come back here again to try something else on their menu. It looked like they had a ton of yummy sandwiches and other entrees. I know Jimmy’z is an upper scale fast food café, but it’s way too expensive. My hubby and I had two canned cokes, an app and two entrees for $ 50. Yowzzza!!!
