Although my experience with Dr. Felipe and Dr. Ballen was great, the staff completely deters me wanting to continue to come here. First of all, each time I have gone they have not had my benefits available, although the appointments are made well in advance. Last week I tried to order contacts using a recent prescription they gave me and they were completely uncooperative. They first faxed me the WRONG prescription. Then said they were unable to send me my actual prescription due to their privacy policy, which at this point they were clearly just being rude and difficult. The girl I spoke with was snappy and just wanted to get me off the phone. I asked to speak with someone else, which she rudely announced while I was on the line, and put someone claiming to be the Assistant Office Manager which was worse than the first girl. She said the Dr. gave me the prescription when she shouldn’t have because I didn’t pay my balance in the office(which how could I have paid my co-pay if they weren’t prepared to give the balance to me). She told me «I’m the highest person you can talk with and I’m not faxing you the prescription» I asked to leave a message to sort it out with the doctor and I never received a call back. I wouldn’t be surprised if she never gave the doctors the message. She was incredibly unprofessional. Throughout the day the I received a few calls from the contact company stating that they were unable to have my prescription confirmed because the staff was extremely rude and uncooperative with them… this is coming from a complete different company not knowing my experience with them. I think that says a lot. All in all I was able to resolve my situation directly with the contact company and get what I needed however the unwillingness to help a patient with a prescription that was given from their office just a few weeks before was ridiculous. I highly doubt I will be returning to this practice.

I first went to Dr. Felipe for my eye exam in January 2015. Everything went well and I left with enough contacts to last me a year. I returned today for an eye exam and to renew my contact order. Upon arrival I was asked if I had insurance, I said yes and that it should be on file. The receptionist looks up my account and tells me that unfortunately the insurance I had they no longer accept. I said okay but I know that I am still covered under insurance so I gave them the name of my new insurance company. She does not offer to call them but instead tells me that I need to call and give her the policy number. I have no problem doing that and I get in touch with the company, I then ask the receptionist to please speak with my insurance company so that she can get the exact info from them. She hastily takes my phone and asks another co worker to speak with my insurance company. That co worker lets out a long sigh as if it’s a huge inconvenience for them and speaks to my insurance for about a minute. They then tell me that they do not accept my new insurance but that there are other doctors that will. I have already set my appointment with another eye doctor. It’s a shame because I really liked the doctor there but the staff is horrendous! There was only one other patient in the waiting room and they acted like what I needed was going to take up so much of their time. I’m very disappointed with this office and I asked them to please remove my information from their files. The receptionist just nodded but I doubt she’ll get anything done.

Paid my copay. Doctor says: I don’t think I’m the best fit for you please call my colleague in davie, fl. 2 weeks later $ 700.00 bill some procedures listed twice and 3 times under different names. Eg opthalmoscopy then fundus picture. Is the same thing. The machine needs a pic for the doctor to read it.

Dr. Anne Ballen and her(I believe new associate Dr. Hamburger, yes Hamburger — the kids got a big kick out of that one) are both lovely, gracious, and thorough MD’s. Dr. Ballen came highly recommended by my pediatrician, and we’ve not only had great success with our son’s progress, but she actually remembers him. 5 stars. Her new location was a bit of a trek for us, but I really like the new offices, and obviously — she’s worth it.
