Lock and Key Events

Last night I attended a Lock and Key event held at Blue Martini in Brickell, and was very disappointed. I thought the event was poorly organized. It started a half hour late (but ended on time), they claimed they would have 100 people attend when the actual number was nowhere near that, and while the age range suggested was 27 – 53 (although they say that if you’re a little younger than that it’s «no biggie,» I’m 26 and the people I date tend to be between 27 and 32, so it was within the age range), the average age definitely skewed towards the older end of that range. If you’re under 35, there really wasn’t much there for you. The best conversation I had the whole night was with the bartender, who was the cutest as well as the most age-​appropriate person there (for me, anyway). They promised appetizers, but this ended up being a plate of pizza squares passed around a couple of times throughout the whole event. (Seriously, pizza squares! In an event held in a venue as nice as Blue Martini.) I had high hopes but by the end of the event I couldn’t wait to get out of there and wished I hadn’t spent my money. I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.
I wrote the above review on the website where I found out about the event, explaining why I was dissatisfied. (Note that I did not use offensive language nor disparaged anyone personally.) The review was quickly removed and I promptly received an email from Darren, the president, calling me childish, nasty, and a whole host of other things, and threatening to sue me for slander. (Psst… it’s not slander if it’s true!) So, of course, I’m now writing this on Unilocal.It’s very possible that there have been other people with similar experiences to mine who have been bullied into silence, but I won’t be.
