We came here last night on a double date and it was down right, delicious!!! My boyfriend loved his ‘Lokal burger’ and I truly enjoyed the homestead guacamole with chips appetizer and the alligator bites(were good, not amazing). BUT, the dessert is something I’d return for over and over again. The Puertorican tres leche was so perfectly milky with a side of bananas and strawberries. Truly delicious!!! I’d definitely recommend! In regards to the service, it was OK. Our server was average. But I will return again all with my pup, did I mention they have a doggy menu???

Very good… they can turn any burger into a turkey burger which is nice and accommodating. Service was great, hostess great, food great. But very small, tight inside but cool place.

Having been to Kush and loving it I felt the menu wasn’t that great and had too many similar items to its sister restaurant. Ordered the smoked fish dip to start but it was over salted and then it was served with salty pita chips which made it worse. My BF got a burger and sweet potato fries and the fries were probably the best thing I had. Didn’t think the meal was worth the money.

Love this place, but there’s one thing that would make it better: Let the staff pet the dogs! For the love of dog, ignore the crank’s previous review complaining about this.

We came on Saturday night. The wait was 30+ min which was fine… We all know if there is a line outside the door it must be Amazing!!!(Miami rule of thumb). I chose this place becuase one of my foodie friends loves Kush Burger.(I have yet to try, but def will). so we go to Greenstreet grab a cocktail until our table was ready. «Three Ginger Gateways» and a «Summertime» later, Lokal has our table is ready. We get a cute corner outside. It’s late May so obviously humid . But puppy friendly! We start with the local craft Wynwood La Rubia Beer and Long Meadow Ranch Wine, they Both were delicious!!! We ordered alligator bites as an app. Alligator bites were a B+. They were good, great presentation, but not the best we’ve had. We definitely finished the plate. Service is slow, but as to be expected On a busy Friday night.((We are always patient in a busy place, because we expect the food to be worth the wait…-slowly salivating in anticipation –and looking at everyone’s food, knowing it must be amazing!)) We order out burgers. Miami Blues(no onion((allergic)), and Lokal Burger(no avocado) + bacon(because why not) with half and half fries(sweet potato and regular). We order them medium well(expecting slight pink in center), obviously we know it’s easy to make medium well, well done. However we expect at the price, for it to be medium well, comparable to a gourmet burger … So our burgers were slightly dryer than expected. Flavor great, toppings even better! Had the burger been medium well, it would have been perfect! As I dive into my fries, a cockroach appears… I don’t know if it’s bc I am outside or if it came with the meal. Luckily more than half the burger was gone. Long story short, def worth trying in the Grove. Would I go back, prob not. but who knows. We’re all about giving second chances. Eating Inside might be a different experience.

Based on the reviews, I don’t know what happened to me! Maybe I went on an off day, but I got the feeling that LoKal is more hype than anything. Don’t get me wrong… I went on a beautiful day and got to sit on a high top outside with a great people-watching view. I loved the dog treats and water they set outside for your furry friends and the variety of beers is spectacular. My waitress was as friendly and attentive as she could’ve been. However, one bite of my frita burger and I was far from impressed. Although I ordered mine medium, the meat was dry and the mixture of the jam with whatever other ingredients were in there didn’t surprise my taste buds. I barely tasted the ingredients leaving me to feel like there was a lot of room for potential. It is a place I would visit again but I wouldn’t come running back. Definitely more of kick it with some friends, beer and appetizers kind of spot for me.

My favorite burger in Miami! You can’t go wrong with anything on their menu. My favorite– The Lokal burger with the sweet potato fries and the honey mustard sauce. The real winner is the honey mustard sauce– they should seriously consider selling this in their little shop! The vibes are great and I love that they are dog friendly, they even have a special dog menu! Highly recommend for anyone looking for great burger and tasty beers!

This place is very laid back with a feel right at home atmosphere. I went with my cousin who was in town and we felt like beers and burgers. I remembered the reviews about this place and the other location kush in wynwood. We ordered the lokal and Frita burger. At first I was skeptical about the Frita burger, but our wonderful waitress Stephanie Perez was so kind and patient and helpful. She is just the best! She took her time to describe the beers which they have an amazing selection of. Then described the burgers and boy was I glad she convinced me about that Frita burger. The beer I picked(I don’t remember) was nice and smooth and my cousin had a coconut beer that was soooo good. The sweet potato fries were yummy too. The portions are pretty big, so we couldn’t finish and had no room for dessert. This place gets a 5 star because the service, the food and the place itself are a must go back to! They even have organic food and water for your pet while you enjoy your food.

If you are sweaty from your 5 – 6 mile run, happened to finish in Coconut Grove like we did after meeting up with the local kennel, Miami Hash House Harriers(MH3), aka The Running club with a drinking problem, aka The Drinking Club with a Running problem, and in the mood for a great burger seated outside? Look no further than Lokal. They have a burger and a beer from some great local taps too, such as Wynwood Brewery. We started out with an order of their Guac and chips. The chips were nicely seasoned and the Guac was delicious. I was feeling in the mood for something spicy and went for their Miami Heat Burger which came with a choice of a side. I chose sweet potato fries. Wow did this burger pack a punch: it was served with spicy mayo, sliced Jack cheese, grilled onion, sliced jalapeño, siracha sauce, lettuce and tomatoes. After biting into this one I felt a great slow burn and the burger was juicy with just the right amount of cheesy goodness. All the spices mixed well together to make this one melt in your mouth. Sweet potato fries also and a good seasoning on it. This house knows how to make a great burger! Feasting next to me, Nicole ordered their Lokal Salad with grilled chicken which looked great and included mixed greens tossed with carrots, avocados, bacon, tomatoe, crunchy croutons, greens pees, cucumber, Gruyère cheese, and a choice of their home made dressing! Bahm! It didn’t take long and that salad disappeared into thin air. Situated on a corner where you have full view of Coconut Grove people watching, you can also turn your attention to the TVs inside. What’s unique about Lokal is that it’s also pet friendly. There are menu items for your Best Friend too, so if you are on your date, Fido can come too! We both enjoyed the atmosphere and our server was attentive. Paying special attention to details, when you get your check, your bill is folded into an L shape and tucked into a small slit of half a cork from a wine bottle. That’s pretty cool too. This is our forth time here and we definitely will keep coming!

Best lunch I’ve had in a while. Heirloom tomatoes were excellent along with Pinks tacos, Tuna Ruben ad a 50⁄50 burger. My kid foodies are already begging to come back and bring our English bull because there is a dog menu with Bowzer beer. Phenomenal

This is a good place to eat two things: a. Chicken and waffles: They are famous here. I don’t have a lot of experience with this dish in other places, but I can say it was really good in here. The waffles were so fluffy and huge, with a very mild touch of sweetness and vainilla, and the chicken was tender and crispy in the outside without being too greasy. b. Key lime pie: one of best I have tried in Miami. It was very mild, compared to more«limey» versions which can be too sour sometimes. It was HUGE and very dense, with tons of whipped cream on the top and a super thick graham crust that was heavenly, it’s a complete dinner by itself! I also tried the alligator bites, which were really good but a bit too much spicy spices around for me(they serve the alligator pieces literally surrounded by spices). The hamburger(the lokal one) was meh… I asked medium cooked and it was too rare and smelled not so fresh, the consistence of the patty was sticky and overall it was just greasy and very low quality hamburger. Fries were very salty but okay. The place is small and dark, but the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is lively, there is always tons of people eating there so it might be difficult to find a table. The prices are not cheap, but depending on how much you order it will be fair(we ordered too much, considering how big the portions were). Might come back to try some of the other dishes!

If looking for a killer burger in the Grove, then look no further then Lokal! My wife and I came here after happy hour with our dog at Taurus because we heard they had killer burgers and a menu with dog food! When we arrived to the restaurant around 8:00PM the place was jam packed. Since we were restricted to an outside table we had to wait almost 30 minutes for a table. After studying the menu while we waited we knew exactly what we wanted when our table was finally ready. We started with the chips and guacamole which came with a mango-like delicious salsa. For dinner, I chose the Royale With Cheese and my wife splurged on the Frita by Kush. The burgers come with french fries which you could chose from regular, sweet potato fries, or go half and half. For buddy(our dog), we ordered him the Yeyo’s chicken and rice. The burgers were incredible! Served with a heaping pile of fries and a side of what I can only describe as the best honey-mustard sauce I have ever tasted. Buddy’s food was served on an adorable blue tray with a side of ice-water. Buddy is a very picky eater and he literally ate every single last bite of the chicken and rice and then proceeded to lick the bowl clean. What a brilliant idea to offer doggie meals for $ 5! Lokal also offers an assortment of local beers on tap. I think Lokal has officially become our go-to burger spot when ever the craving arises. I’m pretty sure Buddy will be hoping his parents get the craving more often.

If you’ve been to kush you’ll love this place. We went on a very cold night and funny enough chose to sit outside. It’s such a chill place, and you’re greeted without even blinking first. The night was crisp, but the banana bread beer suggested by the waiter was great. I’m a burger fanatic, when I saw the«my childhood dream» burger I’ve had to taste it. It came with none other then a bun which was a doughnut, a sunny side up egg, fresh ground beef and of course fries. It was def a dream come true! My wife ordered a sirachi style burger with home made sweet potato fries, hers was just as delicious as mine but with a spicy kick. The only reason they get 4 stars is because getting the check took forever! But do visit this place.

LoKal is a true local’s favorite in Coconut Grove. I’ve been here a bunch of times, and only at the most odd time of day has there not been a crowd in the place. LoKal is much more than just burgers and beer(though they have plenty of delicious options for both), and is definitely worth checking out, whether you’re a local or not. LoKal’s beer selection has a big emphasis on local brews, so be sure to ask what’s on tap. On a recent visit, the board with the current offerings hadn’t been updated, and they were out of the wheat beer I was going for. Luckily they had another yummy option that satisfied just as well! Their burger selections are on point, but when you’re just not feeling it, they have plenty of salad and other veggie-friendly options to choose from! I recently tried their BLT, made with Miami Smokers’ thick-cut bacon, with the addition of avocado, and it was damn tasty. On the same visit, my friend opted for the vegetarian jambalaya, which was spicy and really, really good. Even this meat-eater would be convinced to order it on a return visit. Outdoor seating at LoKal is limited, so if that’s your intention, either come at an odd hour, or be prepared to wait. Don’t shy away from dining at the bar though, as there’s usually a couple seats available when the place is otherwise packed. For a casual and tasty meal that’s easy on the wallet, LoKal is on point in the Grove.

LoKal is an American gastropub that offers various burgers(listed as the best burgers in Miami according to Thrillist & Zagat), chicken & waffles(voted as the best chicken & waffles by the Miami New Times), and other dishes such as alligator strips. LoKal also has a sister restaurant called Kush and it is located near the Wynwood Walls. So why did I choose LoKal over Kush? Simple, I had a slightly easier time to find an available parking spot at LoKal. Overall service was pretty good and after I gave my waiter my order, he immediately replied that it was a great choice. Somewhere deep inside of my head, I just thought his response was a bit unnecessary. *** Mama Bear’s Chicken & Waffles(Fried Florida chicken with Belgian waffles served with chopped bacon, powdered sugar and homemade maple syrup, $ 15): Ooooo shredded bacon? Ooooo Sriracha maple? Maple syrup was somewhat diluted and tasted slightly sweet with just a hint of spiciness. Chicken was pretty good — absolutely no bones with nice crunchy fried skin. Unfortunately, Belgian waffle was pretty bland(Belgian waffle from Bruxie is my personal gold standard — ).(4⁄5) LoKal Key Lime Pie(Graham cracker crust and pecans w/a lime zest and Florida key limes topped w/nuts and fresh whipped cream, $ 8): The whipped cream balanced the overall sourness from key limes and I thought it was a pretty good dessert.(4⁄5) *** LoKal had a pretty good chicken & waffles(at least it was a lot better than the chicken & waffles from LA’s Roscoe’s House of Chicken and Waffles — the one Obama visited when he was in Los Angeles) and it was definitely a pretty solid dinner experience.

Yum! This is one of my fav places to go to. I always begin with an Arrogant Bastard Ale which is hard to come by at restaurants. I’ve tried their chips and guac, the salmon dip, and the fried alligator strips. They are all very tasty. They make a Frita burger which is also tasty. I always ask for extra guava in it :) You can choose if you’d like regular French Fries or Sweet Potato Fries or if you can’t decide, you can ask for 50⁄50! If you aren’t in a burger kinda mood, they have fish sandwiches and salads too. They also offer lettuce«buns» for their burgers for those of us who don’t want bread buns. I usually order Spider’s Tuna salad(ask for their home made honey mustard dressing on the side, trust me on this). It’s a pretty big portion. My favorite thing about Lokal is that they offer a doggy menu for my little Skippy. He likes Chichi’s meatloaf which even comes with a greenies breath mint! I can’t forget the Bowser Beer for my furry little companion(don’t worry it’s non-alcoholic). Dessert time– I’ve tried the Tres Leches and it’s usually very tasty. One time I ordered it it was a bit dry. I’ve heard they make a good Key Lime Pie too.

I am a fan of this family of restaurants. I am a huge supporter of their other location Kush, and whenever I am in the area, I visit Lokal. I really like these people and their food. The have trained their staff well and you always feel like you belong there. Anything on their menu is good. All the burgers are fantastic. I love the traditional ones and the Frita ;) Regardless of what you order, please try their Sweet Potato Fries. yumm, yumm, yumm… I’ve heard that they make their own ketchup and Honey Mustard sauces… which they come included. This is my favorite part of my meal. What sets the Lokal apart is their doggy friendly menu, tables, and they have treats and plenty of water bowls for our four legged friends. Super extra points for this. A great place to meet friends, bring your family and have some fun with good food

My friends call and say, let’s have a «very last minute» girls night out. Hard for me to say no so off we went. There was a small debate on where to go but«trendy place in the grove» won. It was an absolutely fabulous choice! We lucked out with an available table and when I say luck, I mean it. That place seemed like a non-stop revolving door of people. I can’t tell you what the average wait time was but I never saw an empty table. They do have a selection of wine but it seemed wrong not to order beer since the variety is daunting. Although it primarily a burger place, lucky for me there are other choices. I ended up ordering the fish tacos, made with a lightly breaded grouper. I am so picky and dislike fried foods, especially the overly breaded dripping kind. This one was absolutely cooked to perfection. Fish tacos were a serving of two soft taco shells, but filling. They are accompanied with chips and a homemade salsa which I passed on. They don’t have the traditional pico or red salsa which I prefer. It also came with a sweet soy sauce which surprisingly, was beautifully paired with the tacos. As a side note, the server was pleasant and enthusiastic about the food, drinks and restaurant. It made their commitment to using locally sources products a welcomed dining experience! I shall definitely return.

5 star for food, –0.5 for service = 4.5 stars We thought arriving«early» at 6pm would guarantee us a quick table as no one in Miami eats dinner this early. Boy were we wrong! Waited for about 30 minutes outside whilst being a meal for mosquitos. The dogs outside were an added bonus though! Super cute :) Inside is similar to Kush where it is small and crowded. They don’t have enough servers for the amount of customers they have– thus trying to flag your server down is near to impossible. Once flagged though, they are more than happy to address anything! Sweet potato fries are great! I like fries that are crispier and this is it! Although I just wish they were hotter. Got the Frita burger and just devoured it. Didn’t really taste the grave jelly– but you definitely taste the potato fritters, bacon, cheese, and patty. Love the lokal branding atop the burger!
