Widely recognized as one of the craft beer coves west of the 836, this small liquor store has craft beers that are widely loved and very limited. You can find some local FL beers as well as other small batch bombers in the back, and they also have the garden variety big name beers in the left most glass door. Haven’t bothered to see what kind of spirits they have, but I’m sure they got it. More than your corner liquor store, for sure.

As the most overlooked liquor store in the area, Lucky Liquors has become one of the premier locations to find craft beer and imported spirits. If you are looking for any of these, Lucky Liquors should be your next stop. Before the craft beer movement started, this liquor store was part of the Crowne Liquors franchise. Apparently the sales weren’t there and Crowne Liquors moved out. This establishment reopened with the name Lucky Liquors. At the time it provided a great selection of imported beer, although the most mainstream breweries from Europe. Then, Samuel Adams Boston Lager started to invade the country, quickly followed by the small breweries on the West Coast. Lucky Liquors started to bring all these breweries to their shelves, and started to organize beer tasting for patrons. Shortly after Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head started to use premium ingredients and to mix fruits in their beers, creating the microbrewery craze. Today, as most know, beers made with coffee, oats, pumpkin, apple, even banana bread invade select shelves. There are innumerable types of beers, thanks to all the microbreweries and places like Lucky Liquors that promote the movement. The beer selection at Lucky Liquors is not only very large, but it is all refrigerated and well organized. There are about 6 refrigerators full of six packs of craft beer, as well as individual bottles, and 2 more with mainstream imported and domestic beer. There is a full collection of Belgian beer including Trappist beers. Additionally, there is a table set up with discounted beers, that is always a place to look for something rare at a cheaper price. In Lucky Liquors large space you also find many spirits. They have a great variety, and I have seen full lines of whiskeys, tequilas, gins, super premium brandies like Calvados and others. Since I am particularly fond of rums, I am always finding new imported rums from Latin America and the Caribbean. I must say that when it comes to rum, Lucky Liquors carries a very large selection of rare and unknown brands. All in all, with a very large selection of beer and rum, Lucky Liquors should enter the map and become a favorite when it comes to those items. I know it’s my favorite. And, did I mention they have 3 aisles of wines?

I’ve had a horrible time trying to visit(and subsequently review) this liquor store. I’m only around this area on Sundays, and this is the only day of the week they are closed! Lowe and behold, they were open this past Sunday; I’m guessing for the holidays /December. The layout is very spacious and well lit. No strange smells(as some other liquor stores have). Right by the door, you’ll find a humidifier(or at least a glass case) for cigars. There is a large beer selection in the back, wines in the middle, and all your liquors organized along the walls. There are some great gems hidden all about, such as Crystal Skull vodka and quite a of the«Glens» in the scotch section. You won’t find anything too rare, or at least I didn’t see them. Prices are reasonable, a few top shelf items have a slightly higher markup. Bottom Line: Worth a visit if they are open. Not a «last stop» solution.

One of the few places in town where you can find the oddball liqueur, just the right thing for your party’s «signature» drink. This time it was Lichee Liqueur(and the Silver Agave Tequila it’s mixed with) that we weren’t able to find anywhere else. Lots of international imports and mixers, and a nice selection of wines. They are well stocked, and the service excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. Gotta look to find ‘em though — they’re in the back corner…
