I was shocked to find out that this wonderful piano lounge/restaurant has been shuttered and nobody seems to know why. The scuttlebutt however is that it is to re — open in February of 2016 as «The Anderson .» We will believe it though, when we see it.

I love this place. The service is incredible. The hostess, Elizabeth, is lo maximo. I celebrated my birthday last night and really, it was a celebration. The music, singing, atmosphere, drinks, food, and of course that amazing fried chicken were second to none. All my people ate and drank and did not leave at the Cinderella hour. Way after. So if you want to go and hang at this wonderful miami hidden gem, or have a fantastic any kind of celebration. …this is it.

Stopped by here on the way home for some live music one night and was not disappointed! The pianist was incredibly talented! He knew majority of the requested songs and was very lively, very entertaining. The woman singing with him… Just wow. Beautiful. She was great to listen to, and I would go back just for another session of that duo! I didn’t have any food so I can’t comment on that, and the alcohol is just as overpriced as the rest of the alcohol in Miami, so can’t really complain. The outside was a little odd. They were playing loud electronic music, even though there was beautiful live music inside. But, just by pass that and go inside for the good stuff!

Seedy is the best word I could use to describe this place. Even though it closed, was revamped, and brought back– the awful memories at this place still linger in my mind. About a year ago, my current partner DJed at «the shack» which is the outside bar. We had a lot of fun here, but drinks were way overpriced and remain that way even after being taken over by new owners. For being a gritty old place, its incredible that it is about $ 8 for a glass of wine that costs less than the bottle. Technically, they’re making about 500% profit off a $ 8 glass of Pinot from a Cavit wine bottle that costs about $ 12 and serves about 5 glasses. Not a good business decision. Shady dealings went on back then, and from my understanding, they implemented cameras to stop this but it hasn’t changed. When I last visited, there was a man openly snorting substances in the patio area. The piano bar is where I imagine older gay men go to die. Seriously– its sad. The crowd is mostly comprised of 50& older, hags, and a few couples who just want to visit a piano bar. There was usually an older man who regularly played the piano in this room and would have a few drinks, barely able to walk to his large van due to old age and drinking, then drive off… scary! I hope I never end up on the road at the same time as this man. I’ve heard their food is good, but one of my friends did claim to get food poisoning here. I would personally never eat here. I would also, personally, never return. Shady as hell.

The chicken quesadilla with bacon is one of the best I’ve ever had! The burgers are great especially because they are grass fed. Anything that is fried is the best including the chicken wings, fried chicken dinner, calamari and the crab cakes!

DON’T COMEHERETOEAT! FOODISOVERPRICEDANDABSOLUTELYAWFUL. Everything else is fun. Show is fun, bartenders are nice. Waitress was ok. I ate here 5 years ago and the food was bad then too. However the piano bar, red bordello atmosphere is a very different feel than anywhere else in Miami. Just don’t eat here.

Haven’t been in a long time. Over 5 years. Last night was just great. Dinner at 9. Food and service was good and consistent. The manager accommodated us and after dinner a seat for my elderly mom next to piano. This place is just plain fun and great dining experience. Thank you again!!:)

Ok it seems to be an acquired taste the 1st few times we came it was not so great But it’s the only piano joint around and the ratings keep bringing us back so it must be us … LOL We came in last week for dinner and drinks we got menus after studying it and deciding Ebay we wanted, we were told the kitchen is closed there no food … Omg wtf? Ok so no biggie we order drinks and listen to the piano guy, for an hour or 2 but he’ll they didn’t even have snacks and we didn’t eat but we had fun, this week we came in early about 8:30 the music was better drinks were great and the food was ok. Had a med quality NY strip tiny for the price the calamari was good but only rings, crab dip above average We ordered some shrimp dumpling thing that nobody could eat, the bread and French onion soup was great and the service was great, I think they could do better with the quality of the food((steak)) But entertainment made up for a lot great mojito’s too

Magnum is a fanciful piano bar and restaurant located in the upper east side near the 79th Street Causeway. I love this little neighborhood hang. It is the perfect blend of sophistication and chill. I usually hit up this place towards the weekend(Thursday-Saturday nights) and I’ll slip in around 7 to catch the tail-end of happy hour and the first hour or two of the musician’s set. I really love coming when Rick and Jonathan perform! Rick can really do a good«that’s amore» on the piano and he even acts the part out. We’ve even hired these two to play at our house-warming party a couple years back. The music varies and some nights we don’t dig it. But overall, the quality and range of songs that each musician performs makes for a good, live music set. Think oldies, Broadway hits, and epic love songs. It’s a essentially a locals bar and restaurant. Even with the new ownership, the locals still come here to hang. I always bump into someone I’ve seen or know and it always makes for a nice, little reunion. The bartender, Ray, pours solid and stiff cocktails. Bar snacks are yummy if you aren’t looking for a meal, but just want good happy hour prices. Drinks are half-priced everyday from 5 – 8PM? ranging between(average drink is $ 5 depending on your pick). The food is good and selections include: soups, appetizers, steaks, pasta, and seafood items. Prices range from $ 7 – 35 per item.

The most fun you will ever have in Miami. This place oozes happiness. I’m writing this review based on after hours only not meals but if you are looking to forget your worries, be around happy people, enjoy a nice drink and sing amazing show tunes and 80s and 90s classics, this is the place. It’s owned by avra jain of vagabond fame and perhaps that’s why it’s just a fun, classy good time. This is a gay piano bar joint but everyone is welcome and will have an amazing time. The pianist and singers are seriously talented and don’t be surprised that many in the audience singing along to the piano are professional level singers. Leave your cares behind, come with some great old skool tunes in mind and just let go and enjoy yourself.

Pretty cool spot. I didn’t eat so I can’t review the food. The service was ok, but the place was packed so I am showing leniency. Its a neat set-up with inside and outside having totally differing vibes. The people are legit and unique. Its a «gotta try» hidden spot.

A staple near the 79th street causeway entrance. The lighting is dark and sultry, great for dates. The bar is the place to be but if you are hungry, go ahead and be seated at a booth for great food and a chance to dine with the owner who walks around, sits with clients and shares some booze with you. Or sit at the piano for an up close sing along session with the piano man. This place has got such a great basement bar in NYC feel. Plus, the bartenders are great.

I wrote a review of The Magnum on 2÷20÷13 So this is an update. I’m sad to say that Jeffrey who had been the owner for 15 years has sold the place. Jeffrey was a host that few could find elsewhere. He cast his magic spell over the entire establishment and created an ambiance that was so warm one felt like one was entering the home of a beloved friend. Now there is no one to greet you at the door. a few familiar faces of the waiters remain but all I could do is imagine Jeffrey still standing there by the little podium. Yes one person can create an atmosphere that will disappear when they’re gone I went there last Friday to hear the always wonderful Rick and Carla and as usual they did not disappoint. Where and who s this new owner who obviously has no clue of how to run this place. I had asked to be on their E Mail address so that I would know who was playing at the piano bar, but alas, no E Mails have arrived. Come on new owner get with it, it’s not just about making money it’s so much more than that. Stand at the entrance and say” welcome to my place” and when you do mean it. You see that’s the magic!

After hearing such great things on here about the«cheers like neighborhood place» I knew I had to check it out. While I didn’t quite get the«everybody knows your name» vibe, I did have a good time. The best part of this place has to be the piano bar, I can’t imagine why anyone would choose to sit outside away from the fun. I didn’t eat while there so I can’t comment on the food, but the drinks were good, not too strong, but definitely not watered down. The main problem, is their elderly waitress. The only reason I didn’t give more stars was because our waitress was SO rude. I came in with my boyfriend and parents for a little fun after my mom’s birthday dinner. Upon sitting down, the waitress came over to take our drink orders. My dad asked if they carried a certain brand of vodka, and you would think– with her response and facial reactions, that he had just thrown a bunch of insults at her. She was so nasty about it, to the point that she had embarrassed my father. And that REALLY bothered me. Make me feel like crap, fine. But my parents?! I tried to make the best of the night, and just enjoy the music, but I couldn’t get the waitresses’ behavior out of my mind. My boyfriend and I looked around and we weren’t the only table having to awkwardly deal with this nasty woman. It was really a shame. I still would like to come back and give this place another chance, however my boyfriend disagrees. After the waitress treated my family and other patrons, he wants nothing to do with the place.

I found this write up and thought it was perfect for a description of the bar and restaurant we all love. You remember the cliché about queens singing show tunes around the piano? The cliché is alive and well at Magnum. Every night, a group of gentlemen gather at this cozy lounge to show off their pipes and musical knowledge. My Funny Valentine, The Man That Got Away and Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered – all the chestnuts get an airing here, and with great gusto. Far away from the muscles and techno of South Beach, this bar is a time warp – in the best possible way. It’s warm and elegant: under dim lights, the crimson walls, red velvet drapes, oil paintings, gilt mirrors and wooden shutters create a womb-like vibe. Lanterns, flickering candles and snug booths add a romantic mood. Cocktails are gorgeous, as are the staff. Meals are served, too, and they’re good enough to attract a straight crowd. An outdoor bar – the Shack – is open seven days a week(unlike the main club, which is closed on Mondays).

Place closed for a few months, but it’s open again! Different owners, but same old timey look and a better sound system for live music. Can’t go wrong with it! :-)

I love this place! I have only been to the back where the tiki hut is. Cute outdoor area with super comfortable sofas! Bartenders are very nice and social. Drinks are more than reasonable price for what you get. The ambiance is very subtle and chill, I meet someone new there every time I have been there! Went with a party of 10 friends had the entire patio and it was a blast! Ever since then I’m becoming a regular!

The Magnum holds a special place in my heart, mainly because of it’s name, but also for being one of the first places I went out to when I moved here. What’s great about the Magnum Lounge is the patrons there was ego-free, which sometimes can be difficult to find in Miami. It’s really a mix crowd of people which is also nice. The Magnum Lounge for all intents and purposes is a restaurant which features a bar and piano bar, which then turns the Magnum Lounge into a Gay bar. Trust. Go on a Friday night and you’ll see. The piano bar is great. Good music, accompanied by strong drinks and friendly faces who sometimes touch you when you don’t want to be touched, but hey, that’s ok. The bar staff makes great drinks. As mentioned before, they’re really strong so bring a DD. Parking is not my favorite thing, but park somewhere on the street and you’ll be fine(if your car isn’t broken into that is). Every time I come here I have a blast. It really is a place where you can let you hair down and just enjoy yourself and more than likely sing a few show tunes.
